☁◆☁~Introduction~☁◆☁ ~◆☁◆☁◆☁◆☁◆~ ◆The Winchester Mystery House is a well-known mansion in Northern California. It once was the personal residence of Sarah Winchester, the widow of gun magnate William Wirt Winchester. It was continuously under construction for 38 years and is reported to be haunted. It now serves as a tourist attraction.
Under Winchester's day-to-day guidance, its "from-the-ground-up" construction proceeded around the clock, without interruption from 1884 until her death on September 5, 1922, at which time work immediately ceased. The cost for such constant building has been estimated at about US $5.5 million (if paid in 1922; this would be equivalent to over $71 million in 2010).
The Queen Anne Style Victorian mansion is renowned for its size and utter lack of any master building plan. According to popular belief, Sarah Winchester thought the house was haunted by the ghosts of the people who fell victim to Winchester rifles, and that only continuous construction would appease them. ☁◆☁~Legend Has it..~☁◆☁ ~◆☁◆☁◆☁◆☁◆~ ◆The house serves as a portal from the Spirit world to the Human World, otherwise know as Earth to the other spirits. They say the house has thousands of stair-cases and millions of doors leading to many rooms. Some doors lead to only blank walls, some even lead towards a window where you may randomly fall out. In other words; This house is a portal as said above.
Although this is disputed, popular belief holds that the Boston Medium told Winchester that she had to leave her home in New Haven and travel West, where she must "build a home for yourself and for the spirits who have fallen from this terrible weapon too. You must never stop building the house. If you continue building, you will live forever. But if you stop, you will die."
Winchester left her New Haven home and headed for California. In 1884 she purchased an unfinished farmhouse in Santa Clara Valley and began building her mansion. Carpenters were hired and worked on the house day and night until it became a seven story mansion.
The June 1937 issue of Modern Mechanics relates the story from then-current accounts as follows: "Winchester and the baby girl died suddenly and Mrs. Winchester, stunned by the tragedy, fell into a coma so serious that physicians despaired of her life.
Finally she recovered and at a friend’s suggestion, visited a medium." During a seance according to those familiar with her story, she received a communication from her dead husband in which he said: 'Sarah dear, if our house had not been finished, I would still be with you. I urge you now to build a home, but never let it be finished for then..you will live.'
Another version of the story says that after the deaths of her daughter and later her husband, she consulted a medium who told her that she must build a house and never cease building it, otherwise the spirits that killed her family members would come after her too. After that, she began construction on the maze-like house full of twists, turns and dead ends so that the spirits would get lost and never be able to find her.
One version states that "She believed her only chance of a normal life was to build a house and keep building it. If the house was never finished, no ghost could settle into it. The house contains many features that were utilized to trap or confuse spirits. There are doors that are small or lead nowhere and windows that look into other parts of the house. The mansion may be huge but there are only two mirrors in the whole place. This is because Sarah believed that ghosts were afraid of their own reflection."
Winchester inherited more than $20.5 million upon her husband's death. She also received nearly 50 percent ownership of the Winchester Repeating Arms Company, giving her an income of roughly $1,000 per day, and none of which was taxable until 1913. This amount is roughly equivalent to about $300,000 a day in 2012. All of this gave her a tremendous amount of wealth to fund the ongoing construction.◆ ~◆☁◆☁◆☁◆☁◆~

☁◆☁~The Household Rules~☁◆☁ ~◆☁◆☁◆☁◆☁◆~ ◆God-modding: This is absolutely out of the role-play. But god-modding may only be committed if the user agrees with it. This is a role-play on ghosts so you can possess other users, But only with their permission. You can ask for permission in O.O.C during the role-play or through a PM.
It is strictly banned in this role-play to possess a character out of turn without their consent. Also, learn to take a hit. Don't be godly and avoid multiple attacks then deal massive blow on the character; that is god-modding. Also, realism is slightly required in this role-play.
No using destructive elements like fire, lava, lightning or whatsoever as healing magic. They were not meant for healing, they were created to kill, to burn, to cause damage and destruction. It just kills the realism when you give them healing abilities. Auto-hitting is banned in this role-play. I understand you like to cause fights, but don't go around whacking people in the head.
◆Cyburing: I'm pretty sure you know this rule. If you are going to have it, take it off the site completely. Nobody likes to read about sex and whatnot..But that's why we have time-skips. Time-skips can be used by anybody. Your character has been hurt to long and you want him or her to be healed? TIME SKIP! You're going to make your character have sex with another? TIME-SKIP! For seriously, that's why they're there...
◆Possession: Like above in the god-modding rule, This is a role-play on ghosts so you can possess other users, But only with their permission. You can ask for permission in O.O.C during the role-play or through a PM. Getting permission to possess another's character must be taken by the user him/herself. Don't get your panties in a twist if he/she says no.
If the user agrees with your character possessing their character, then the user who agreed to it must make their character show signs of being possessed. Make your character shake violently, hop or jump around, clutching the head, screams of terror or do whatever the heck you want to do that shows the tell-tale signs of the character being possessed. But warning to all, Once the user has given you permission to possess the other user's character, it's permanent. Meaning once the user's ghost character possesses another character, that user must take it upon him/herself to take control of that character whom he/she possessed completely.
You have an option to undo this by my or the user's consent; Exorcism. Though be warned that once the user has control of their character again, once exorcism is done on your ghost character, they die. Sorry for the unfairness, but this role-play is based on realism. Extreme realism.
◆Pictures: Both Anime and Realistic Pictures are encouraged in this role-play. Though you may not use realistic pictures for human characters, you can use them for your ghost characters. So to sum it up: Anime pictures for human characters and both anime and realistic pictures for ghost characters.
◆Literacy: This is a semi-literate to literate role-play. That means No one-liners, no using *'s or -'s for your actions. Type them out for crying out loud, that's why computers have key-boards! No chat-speak, It's very annoying.
No speaking in first-person; you must speak in third person. Please have correct spelling, punctuation and grammar please. I am a Spelling Nazi. Though it's okay if you don't know how to spell something, nobody knows everything. I also expect at least two to five paragraphs per post with well though sentences.
And during your posts, you must "Talk like this", 'Think like this', and type like this. Though you don't have to type using italic, but some people do it. And if you can't follow these rules and guidelines to literacy, just leave the role-play and come back once you think you've improved.
◆Time, Day. Weather and Year: This role-play is featured this year in 2012. Meaning if the month, day and year changes, then so does the role-play. Although the weather can be picked out by you in the role-play. If you want to make it sunny, cloudy, rainy, stormy, etc., PM Me which type of weather you want featured in this role-play. Remember, climate changes too so I will change it to something else later unless another user asks me for it to be changed again.
If you want a natural disaster to happen like a tornado, a hurricane, an earth-quake or avalanche to happen, then PM Me. You can even ask me for a volcano to erupt. Volcanoes are destructively powerful so you must ask me and the rest of the users consent to active a volcano. Boring yes, but you can't kill off a character...unless you have the user's consent that is.
◆Respect: Please be nice and respect others in this role-play. I will not tolerate rude behavior in this role-play. If rude behavior is represented, you will be reported for your actions. No one likes bullies, and bullies never win So if you're thinking about snapping at someone, don't. Because bullying is not cool, nor is it nice. You will be reported for bullying another citizen on Gaia.
◆Cursing: Cursing is encouraged in this role-play and so is romance and violence. But please, for the sake of all others, don't take the cursing too far. You could hurt someone's feelings that way. And about the romance and violence, don't take both too far as well. No killing off a character, and Take your extreme romance to the PM's.
◆Profiles: Send me all of your profiles by PM. Do not post them in this thread. Not only will I force you to delete it, but it will also ruin your chances of role-playing. So unless you want to role-play here, don't post it in this thread.
◆Goddess: I may not be the captain of this guild, but I was the one made the role-play so I am, therefore free to add more rules any time I want. And what I say you must follow. Also, to make sure that you read the rules, add a idea somewhere in your PM so I know you read them. ~◆☁◆☁◆☁◆☁◆~
