User ImageThe sun seemed to be shining particularly bright on this day. Finally, she was heading toward her new home with her family. The sight of Segurue and her children around her completely chased away any anxiety that she might have felt heading straight toward a new life in the Kuroi'Nera. Even though she really knew nothing about them, Bashira knew that this was where she needed to be. Upon arriving, she instantly felt better about her children's safety. Living in the rogue lands had been hard for her, and she had constantly been afraid for them.

Bashira had been told that this was a safe place, not only by their escort Katapatan, but by the friend that had told of this day so long ago. She didn't know what she would have done if he had not seen and prophesized the her future. It was the only thing that had driven her for a long time. Now that she was here, she felt overwhelmed by the relief that flooded inside of her.

User ImageMama had made them walk for an exceptionally long time one this day. Sahira had figured that it was because they were close to wherever they were going. The little girl didn't really think too much of it but it did make her curious. The lady that they were walking with, Katapatan, made her a little nervous though. She was supposed to be taking us to the place that mama and Segurue want to go. Although, in the cub's mind this place was no different from all of the other places that they had been to. She just assumed that they would wander through this new place for a while and them move on. It hadn't entirely registered to her that they would be staying at the new place for a much longer time than just a few days.

All his life he had walked, and now...they didn't? The change was a little startling to Haiba. He had figured they would walk forever and ever to some unobtainable goal but...apparently they had reached the end. He could smell lots of other animals around and, while he was slightly anxious, he was also very excited. More lions and leopards and creatures meant more friends! More friends to play with and tease and laugh with. He loved to laugh!

For once, though, that desire to play and tease was being held under control. They were in a new place, and new places were always a bit nerve-wracking. He was thankful for his mother and Segurue, as well as his sisters and brothers. If they weren't here he probably would have been shaking in fear. As it was, he kept close to his mother's hind feet, poking his head this way and that from time to time.

User ImageHis feet still hurt! But they weren't walking anymore, so why did his feet still hurt? Frowning, Nhlakanipho stuck close to mom because something unnerved him about his place. It was the smell of so many other things here. They weren't family. They didn't smell like anyone he knew and he wasn't even sure he wanted to know who the scents belonged to. Frowning to himself, Nhlak looked around again and then to his brother and sisters.

It seemed they were all unsettled with this place. Peeking to look at his mom, he spoke slowly, hesitantly.

"Where are we?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. No one had said anything for a while so he figured it was time to ask the question that everyone was thinking. At least, the smaller everyone.

Overhead their were scavenger birds painting the sky black.. At least is provided shade, she was used to these kinds of things. It reminded her of home. Ever since she had to transport new blood in to the nera, it was only a hassle when cubs were involved. The vultures were tactical when killing off 'talkers' but not with cubs, and she could feel the unsettlement coming from the adults.

She stopped unbruptly and turned to them. Looking each one in the eye, even the children. "Beyond this point, I need your eyes covered. The cubs will need to be picked up upon our backs.. and to follow suit by our scent. Understood. Stay." After saying so, she went a few further- disappeared in to the ground then came up with pieces of fur scrap. These were acted as blindfolds.

"Its the rule."

User ImageSegurue was the type too loyal to let anything happen to Bashira's cubs. His ties with her were immense and now that a pride was being introduced to them, he didn't quite know if that would be for the best but he did not question her. Not the least. But his loyalties will soon be put to the test as he swore himself to Emi and her ideals. Now Kata was taking them here, and with some of the conditions, he neither was for or against it unless Bashira showed any signs.

They were an odd duo that was for sure. Even more odd with cubs involved. He stepped up to Kata, and if Bashira was fine with this, he would make sure to help aid the blindfolds on each cub. "Settle down cubs." He announced bluntly to the smaller ones. Making sure he was direct with them to show the importance of this arrangement. Even passed the entry- he would still be alert and wary of every pair of eyes in the pride. He was afterall, too protective to let anything happen to the ones he called family.

Haiba stopped as the rest of their group did, his golden eyes darting around. The new cheetah was slightly scary, but adventure and learning new things always helped suppress his fears. They'd be starting a new life here and this female might play a pretty significant part in that new life, so he'd better stay sharp and pay attention to what she had to say.

The shock on his face was evident when she said something about blindfolds. What? But then he wouldn't be able to see! ...which was kind of the point, granted. But he liked seeing! "Hang on, blindfolds? Mom, I don't wanna wear one," he said, hoping they could wriggle out of it. "I promise I'll just squeeze my eyes shut real tight, like this!"

He demonstrated, scrunching up his nose as he pressed his eyelids together tightly. He turned to the adults in turn, showing off how good he could keep his eyes closed. Of course, he knew that if he squinted hard enough he could peek just a bit without anyone noticing. He didn't display this sneaky trick, though, keeping it to himself. He didn't want to give away his ploy, after all.

After he determined he had his eyes closed long enough, Haiba opened his eyes and grinned at his mother. "See? I don't need one."

Bashira was admittedly skeptical with the alleged rules of this place, but she felt no danger nor malintent, so she simply nodded her head as well. Was this place so secret that their group was not even allowed in see their way in? Her curiosity about their impending new home heightened significantly. Facing her son Haiba, Bashira gave a small laugh at his antics before she responded, "I know that you can keep your eyes shut son, but it seems that it is important that we wear the blindfolds. Don't worry, you can take it off when we are there." Along with Segurue, she placed the blindfolds on the cubs while speaking comforting words to them. Once they were all blindfolded, she helped pick up each cub and place them on the back of one of the present adults. When the task if readying the children was complete, she turned to Katapatan expectantly. The female proceeded to blindfold both Segurue and herself. The immediate loss of her sight initially startled her and brought forth emotions that she had kept deep inside of her. The darkness was reminding her too much of her life as a killer. So, she focused on the comforting and present feeling of two of her children resting upon her back. She kept her mind locked on their precious faces to keep her mind on the current situation and walking forward.

Sahira was just about as pleased as her brother had been about the prospect of being blindfolding. She wanted to see what was going on! How was she supposed to see where they were going when she couldn't see anything at all? Despite her feelings about the situation, she calmed and allowed herself to be blindfolded and lifted onto someone's back. From the smell of it, she would be riding on Segurue's back on their venture into this new place. Why was it that this place required you to be blindfolded? They had simply waltzed through every other place that they'd been to. As she felt Segurue moving forward, she wondered what this place would be like.

Haiba's grin faded a bit as his mother declined his request and he lowered his head. Dang it...he really didn't want a blindfold. The dark wasn't scary when he could see, but if he couldn't see, then it was terrifying! How was he supposed to know where they were going? Well...he had his nose for that, he supposed, but eyes helped a lot, too.

He held still as the blindfold was put on and pretended like he wasn't scared. That evaporated very quickly, though, when he was placed on a strange-smelling back. He froze just a bit before realizing it was the other cheetah that had spoken to them and tried not to dig his claws in too far, afraid that if he hurt her she'd toss him off quietly and leave him there, abandoned forever.

"H-hey, I can walk!" he said with a shaky voice as he held on to the brown and orange female. "I can just hold someone's tail in my mouth and then I wouldn't be so scare....I mean...s-so heavy! I'm so heavy and I really don't want you to have to carry me."

Ha...maybe no one had noticed his little slip-up.

The silent young female had been hovering at the back of the group as was her usual habit. Shy and reserved the ghost-like youngster preferred to watch everything going on before taking part in it. But even she had drawn close against her mother's paws once they had entered the strange new land. As the adults started to blindfold the younger cubs, Kamaria flinched, slinking to her belly nervously. It was not really the idea of blindfolds that worried her, but the change in their usual manner of living. Though she had sensed that something was different for the past few days, that feeling had intensified the closer they got to where it seemed they had always been headed. The brown-coloured female made her nervous, with her smooth talk and mysterious manners.... Kamaria had no idea how to approach her or even interact, so she had stayed well back since the unknown female had arrived with their party.

But now, with so much happening, she had slunk forwards and when the fur was placed over her eyes, she focused hard on her sense of smell and hearing. Relieved when the familiar scent of Segurue filled her nose she pressed against the male's solid back and closed her eyes, finding it helped her nerves even though it was unnecessary with the blindfold in place.

Even though she retained her composure, Bashira still could not completely push away the feelings of anxiety as her world was submerged into darkness. She was more alert than ever as they walked forward into the pride. She was picking up new smells and sounds all around her and she felt as though she were surrounded by the presence of others. Curiosity began to mask over her growing fear and she could not wait to regain her eyesight. It wasn't long before Bashira heard the voice of their guide telling them to stop, that they had arrived.

When the blindfold was removed, Bashira took in fully her new envirnoment and internally exhaled a sigh of relief. The silver female turned and placed her cubs gently on the ground and removed each of their blindfolds. She couldn't explain the emotions that came over her as she stood there gazing out into the land of the Kuroi'Nera. In many ways, she couldn't believe that they had actually gotten to the place that she had been searching for all of this time. She had finally come.

Sahira was less than thrilled at being carried through the pathway to the place that mama had told them about. Nevertheless, she trusted the two adults that had raised her and her siblings over this time. When she felt herself being set down, she leapt with joy as she was able to see again and immediately began to take in the sights and sounds and smells all around her. There were other here, many others. In her excitement, Sahira didn't realize that the place that they had arrived to, would be the first place that she would ever call home.

(I'm ending this and getting everybody certed!)
