From an outside perspective it might seem that Reika was born into a good family with a promising future ahead of her. She would agree to disagree. Born into a family of ryokan owners, she was raised to sooner or later inherit the inn. Everything from hospitality courses, cooking, and tea ceremony flooded any free time she might have had growing up. Any signs of unwillingness or defiance were quickly dealt with. Whether it was having to go without food, or missing days of school to cut off time with her friends. Her parents made it clear that she had no say when it came to her future. Strict parents wouldn’t have been so bad; the problem was that when it came to their daughter, they were anything but loving, nurturing or caring parents. She was someone who would inherit the inn, and they were the ones who would benefit from it one way or another. That was all.
It came to no surprise that as she grew older she began disliking many things that revolved or reminded her of the inn. Having to constantly wait on people and strike up conversations at the inn always made her very uncomfortable. So when out on her on she will go to lengths to avoid any kind of interaction with unfamiliar persons when not absolutely necessary. She understands that it’s silly, because it’s not as if she has a fear of strangers – it’s simply a way for her to make a choice for herself and not being forced to do something because of the inn.
Still hoping to break away from the path her parents pathed for her, she convinced them to let her enroll to college before permanently working at the inn. She convinced them by saying they are many things she could learn from her peers, things that might help improve the inn and attract younger customers. To top it off she told them about the variety of hospitality and culinary courses. What her parents don’t know though, is that she’s enrolled as a musical theatre major, not even close to any of those ‘new innkeeper’ courses. So currently she is working part time at her parents’ ryokan, and persuing her musical theatre degree for a chance to make it a career.
She’s not familiar with the zodiac cure although she’s heard stories from her friend who studies mythology. Seeing as it’s something she’s not familiar with she sees no reason to believe or disregard such a theory.

My Story»» Born to a Japanese father and French mother, Chi-Chi has overcome many trails and tribulations that came with being a cursed member of the Sohma. Her father was a Sohma and knew about the cursed zodiac, he had hoped his daughter was not burden with it like the others, but sadly, fate dealt him what he feared most. Her mother was unprepared for this, fearing and despising the very thing she gave birth to. The elders of the Sohma never approved of Chi-Chi's father marriage to her mother so when they learned that she wanted to return to her home in Paris, France, they were more than happy to oblige. But of course, they erased her memories of everything that had transpired after she had met Chi-Chi's father. With that loose end taken care of, they sent her off to Paris as Chi-Chi was forced to stay with the Sohma.
Growing up as the cow was not easy, especially when Chi-Chi was affectionate and friendly by nature. Her father raised her as best he could, even taking the time to teach her about her French heritage. There has been times when he took her over to Paris to see the sights and taste the delicious food France had to offer. She was even able to see her mother....even though she did not know her or her father. But...it was okay. It was to be expected...after all, this was the curse she bear. Chi-Chi was able to tolerate being curse and having to deal with the Sohma because of her father, other members of the zodiac and cooking. They helped eased the burden and sorrow she hid and made living with this curse easier.
There has been times when others have seen Chi-Chi's cursed form and as a result, theit mind were erased. She felt bad, even though they used to pick on her because of her hair color. It wasn't her fault it was just naturally blue.
Chi-Chi wants to own a bakery where she can make all sorts of treats that could bring smiles to other. But the Jade Emperor won't allow it. Even though she tries persuading him otherwise with the sweets she makes.

My Story»» They say that if you are part of the Zodiac that your parents reject you or are overprotective. Michiko had the latter. When she was born, she, like the other Zodiac members, was born early. After running all the appropriate tests to make sure she was healthy, the ( luckily all female ) nurses returned the infant to her mother. The woman passed the baby girl over to her father and POOF! he was carrying a baby lamb demon in his arms. Being Sohmas, her mother by blood, her father by marriage, Michiko's parents knew of the curse and that not all of the Zodiac had been born, so there was a possibility that their fist child could have been cursed. Regardless, having your first born child turning into a lamb is no small deal. It gave everyone a shock, but it was all taken care of. Michi's parents love their daughter very much, despiteher curse.
Michiko showed a fond interest for art at an early age. She loves to paint. She has always shown a fear for water, from the moment she was old enough to comprehend that the liquid was near her. She absolutely hates lakes, oceans, pools, even baths. The feeling of holding her breath is too much for her. And you could argue that she would never put her head under, but even the thought of going under would cause her to freak out. Perhaps the only lasting health problem she's ever had has been breathing. She tires quickly, and can't overexert herself, not only because she could turn into a lamb, but she panics when she's short of breath, so she's never been fond of seeing how long she could go without air. She'll maybe dip her toe in the ocean, if they happened to go, but quickly pull it out in fear of unknown creatures pulling her under, never to be seen again.
Which brings us to our next topic. While she appears energetic, bright, sweet, and charming on the outside, on the inside she is paranoid, shy, insecure, and disorganized. Of course she knew that the authorities wouldn't allow people to be near the water if it was an active shark zone, and she saw that people were farther out than she was and she knew that she would be able to see if a shark came a mile away. But sometimes an active imagination can be a curse as well as a blessing. What if just this one time a shark would be so sneaky that it could make it's way past everybody else and drag her away. What if even if she ran away, the shark would be able to walk and it followed her? The list went on and soon she was 30 feet away from the edge of the water, ready to bolt at any minute.
This pretty much sums up Michiko's life. She lived as average a life can be with her situation. In a nutshell, she is a sweet, charming girl with an active imagination on the outside and a nervous, shy, disorganized person on the inside. She harbors a lifelong fear of water, and is extremely paranoid.

My Story»» Unlike most of the Sohmas, Lelia was actually born overseas- in Italy. Her Japanese father, a Sohma, moved there for business and met her Italian mother. Obviously, they stayed there for quite a while. When they had their first, and only child, it came as a surprise when she turned into something completely different when held by a male. Fortunately, her parents were still very loving towards her, and kept her curse a secret as best as they could. Yet, by the age of ten, they figured that it would be in their best interest to move to Japan and live on the Sohma family estate so she could be with her fellow zodiac members. Being the easily adaptable girl she is, the change didn't bother her, instead she was very intrigued by the new place they moved into, and how many relatives on her father's side there was.
The only thing she wasn't too keen about? All of the restrictions and following the cultural differences. It was really weird to get used to. Not the language itself, per-say as her father had been teaching her that while in Italy, but all of the Japanese customs were so foreign and odd to her. This feeling would continue to exist even to her present day nineteen year old self, though to a lesser degree.
Currently, the tiger is in college, taking online courses and trying to become a journalist. It's the second best option, but she's quite sure her request to go into modeling will be shot down and cause tensions between her and other Sohmas (most notably the god). Being someone who generally tries to avoid conflict, it's something that she doesn't bring up. Besides taking online classes, she's also job hunting for an internship- something that she can mostly do from the Sohma estate, of course. While she feels restricted having to spend most of her time at the estate, she's also partly grateful for it. After all, she's well aware that not everyone will take seeing a tiger demon like her parents did.

My Story»» Liu’s father was one of the Sohmas that traveled. As soon as he was out of school he left Japan to explore other countries. He was an archaeologist who enjoyed delving into the history of cultures. It was his many travels that took him to the deep are of China. That is where he met Liu’s mother, a beautiful Native American woman with dark skin.
She was a traveler much like himself; she was a fun loving traveler with a fancy for Chinese history and Culture. She managed to talk him into returning to North America with her. While he was usually a cold and rather uptight individual she managed to break his emotional shell and bring him out. They eventually got married and had a single daughter, she was given a Chinese name to represent the meeting of her parents in China. He continued to travel only returning for brief visits such that Liu did not know him very well. She was raised almost exclusively by her mother. She was brought back to the village where her mother was from and was raised by both her and her grandmother who taught her much about their culture and language. The village was in the northern reaches of Alaska so it was very cold. She learned to endure the cold. It was after an accident where she fell into an ice hole that she first transformed. Luckily only her grandmother and mother were with her at the time. Her mother fainted but her grandmother did not hesitate to rescue the scared rat from the water. Her own mother grew distant returning to her travels and she was left to be raised by her grandmother. She took care of Liu then, keeping Liu’s secret hidden from the village. She soon discovered after a few incidents when Liu was young what affected the transformation and did her best to keep her safe. She gave her all the best medicines making sure she never got sick, and if she did that she was alone. She also warned Liu to never hug any men or boys and to avoid them at all costs. Other than her strict rule Liu’s Grandmother doted on her granddaughter since neither of her parents seemed to want anything to do with her. Fostering her talents and teaching her the spiritual ways of their people, bestowing upon her the mark of the wolf on her 13th birthday, a great spiritual honor in their tribe.
Liu was a very clever child and around the age of 6 found an affinity for martial arts. She trained tirelessly passing most of the other students in the village in little time at all. She learned several different styles even combining and melding them together forming a more unique style all of her own. Her Grandmother encouraged her talent even finding her a female trainer and sparring partners knowing what could happen if she sparred with a boy, she continued to follow her grandmother’s wishes and avoided practicing with boys. She knew nothing of her familial ties other than the last name her father gave her of ‘Sohma’. At the age of 18, she went to Japan for a large martial arts tournament. Her grandmother forbid it but Liu was at the age to make her own decisions and decided to pursue her own dreams so left without her grandmother's knowledge. It was absurd her grandmother wouldn't let her fight in the tournament because she wasn't allowed to fight with boys. Liu was far too young to remember she turned into a beast under certain circumstances. She merely thought her grandmother was being overprotective of her only grandchild and Liu wished to follow her heart. She was on her way to her first match when she was confronted by a few of the participants, some boys who were less then pleased they would have to fight a girl. She disregarded her Grandmother’s constant warnings about getting in a fight with boys. She was grabbed by one of them amidst the fight causing her to transform into her demon rat form alerting God immediately. In a matter of minutes the Sohma family had shown up to escort her away and clean up the situation.
She had to drop out of the tournament and was forced to live with them at that point, around October. She was very angry about that as she didn’t want to leave her home or avoid what she loved doing. She spent a lot of time away from the others occasionally breaking things when her emotions spiked. Recently, she was on an extending vacation allowing her to visit her grandmother with a chaperone, in a hope it would help calm her down. Only returning recently to the Sohma estate having to leave her Grandmother behind; she could not come with because of responsibilities as an elder of the village. Liu is still having trouble fitting in as she can barely read Japanese and has been taking classes at the local College. She can speak it well enough now but still can’t read or write. She often reverts to her native tongue when she is emotional often spending extended periods in the dojo practicing.

My Story»» The moment her father tried to hold her in his arms as a newborn, it was revealed that Blanche was a cursed member of the zodiac. Although it was quite a big shock for them, her parents tried their hardest to help her live a normal life. Moving abroad to distance themselves from the main family, was the first step. Her mother loved the idea of traveling, so they never stayed in any one place for too long. This made life a bit lonely for Blanche, since she'd constantly have to make new friends. To make up for this, her parents made sure to spoil and cherish her like crazy.
As an infant, Blanche transformed a couple of times, due to occasional colds or fevers. As she grew older, her parents went to great lengths to decrease the chance of her possibly transforming. To avoid contact with boys, her parents always made sure to enroll her at an all-girls school, and never let her outside unaccompanied. To avoid sickness and build her immune system, they made sure their daughter always ate well, took plenty of vitamins, and kept fit.
Due to the fact that she looks much younger than she actually is, her parents constantly treated her as a child. They probably weren't aware of it, but due to their excessive pampering, Blanche grew up quite childish. She found all the attention to be quite annoying but understood that her parents meant well. However every now and then it would become too much for her, and she'd wish that she could have some time just for her, away from her parents.
Although her parents, wanted to keep Blanche as far from the other Sohma's as possible, it didn't stop them from telling her about them, or her birthplace in Japan. Still not having many friends of her own, the idea of this large family appealed to her. Wanting to meet this family of hers, she decided that when it came to choosing a university to study at, she'd choose one in Japan to be closer to them.
When the time came, she told her parents that she wanted to attend a university in Japan, and they were finally forced to tell her the truth. Afraid that their daughter would try to rejoin the Sohma family, they hoped the news of her cursed nature would scare her away. At first she wanted to disregard what her parents said, take it as a joke, but their faces were so serious. Not sure how to take the news, Blanche decided to move back to Japan on her own. She still didn't quite believe what her parents told her, but it was always at the back of her mind.
After arriving in Japan, Blanche did not contact the Sohmas. Instead she focused on her studies. The first year was hard for her, she was on her own now, and forced to do things on her own. All the things her parent’s used to do for her, cleaning her room, cooking her meals, she was stuck doing. And if all these new responsibilities weren’t enough, her university was co-ed. Not having had much contact with men, other than her father where contact was still very limited, she was quite insensitive to the difference between genders and what was appropriate to say and not. Realizing that she didn’t seem to handle conversations with members of the opposite sex well, she saved herself a lot of frustration by just avoiding them all together.
It was only after finishing her degree that she decided to meet the family. She wanted to know more about this curse, and see if what her parents said was true. Since then she's been living in the zodiac manor, and has come to realize that the curse was in fact real. Thinking it made more sense to stay with the other zodiacs; she regretted to tell her parents that she intended to stay in Japan.
Her time as a baby being the exception, Blanche has yet to consciously transform into her cursed form.
