Gaved wouldn't have minded doing it right then and there, but he supposed Kazul was concerned about tarnishing her reputation.
His reputation would probably be enhanced, of course.
He shrugged impatiently. Gaved didn't want the female in his den, either. Dalla would smell her and start up with her bitching. That or Stygg would drag herself around whining and groaning and simpering with that damnable lisp of hers. It would be altogether embarrassing. No.
"The woods," Gaved suggested. "I've seen you sneaking off there now and then. You must know a place."

Kazul didn't even give his suggestion a moment's consideration. The woods would be a terrible place. For one thing, half of her family lived there. The half of her family who talked to spirits and seemed to know everything that happened in the forest almost before it took place. No, thank you. She definitely did not want to explain this to Odd.
"You know what? Here is fine," she decided.
After all, this was not a frequently traversed bit of prideland. That was part of why Kazul had chosen to take this particular route back to her den. It was unlikely that anyone would come across them, as long as they kept their assignation relatively quick and quiet.
"Just give me a moment to set these herbs out of the way."
So romantic.

To Gaved, who was very definitely not the woodsy sort, the woods were basically a big dark tangle of bushes ideal for screwing in without being discovered. He knew there were a bunch of weird lions living in there for the gods alone knew what reason, but that didn't change the reality: the woods were a big, messy, dark-as-the-inside-of-an-elephant tangle of bushes. Surely not even Kazul's hillbilly relatives would stumble across them.
Well, whatever.
Gaved tapped his tail idly against the ground as Kazul busied herself setting her herbs aside and patting her fur into place and cleaning her teeth and grooming her tailtuft and rolling in the finest of flowers or whatever other fool tasks lionesses busied themselves with before the act. As soon as she was done he stepped towards her purposefully.
