She was beyond unhappy, almost angry, enraged, but she tried to keep her cool as best as possible for sake of Fen'li. Ugh, the naive female, but Karm loved her like a sister she never had. They were family now, as far as Karm was concerned, and here they were, their new home, although they had not come here on their own terms. Captured, run down, found, anything but willing. Fen, although, had seemed quite happy to have a pride to call home, Karm was proud. She had been trained to be a guard, trained to know strength.
She wanted to be a warrior.
Not thrall.
Not slave.
She snarled to herself, pacing.
She would rise like the sun, ablaze in the morning. It would take time, and planning though, she needed to take her time and chose her decisions wisely.
If she could help it.

His first viking was a success. Bousvor had enjoyed the welcome home party, though he'd watched more than particpated. The group of new reavers had brought back plenty of supplies. He had been thinking about what Lesedi had mentioned since he'd gotten back. There was an overflow of thralls in the pride that weren't spefically claimed by anyone.
He had found himself down where the thralls hung out and settled himself down to watch. At first he didn't specifcally watch anyone. Just stared out over the area. Perhaps it was foolish to be down here, but he was curious about them. Bousvor let his eyes linger on some going about their business. It wasn't until his eyes caught a jerky, angry motion that he paid attention. It was a black and white lioness with stripes. She did not look happy about something, and he kept watching her.

Karm's fur bristled and she witheld a snarl that wanted to erupt from her throat. She wanted to fight something, someone, prove herself now. But no. Too soon. What would Fen think? She sighed, puffed air from her mouth and nose quickly and her tail lashed. Then her eyes raised, crimson, blood red eyes, and they settled on an orangey male with dark stripes watching her. The angered, distrustful look was still upon her face.
"Well?" she asked. She wanted to say much more, but the spite on her tongue would have her words be like lashes of her claws and she did not need to misbehave now.
She ground her paws into the ground and watched him, waiting, t see what might come from his mouth, figure out why he was even here.

The male didn't immediantly reply to her question. Instead he curiously watched her a moment. Yes she was most decidedly angry about something.
"You appear angry," he said. Bousvor made no other moves. He assumed she was a thrall by the fact she was here. That didn't mean she was though. He was also curious as to why she was so angry.

"Why shouldn't I be?" she said quickly with a snap of her tongue, eyes watching him closely, breath in her chest. She ground her fangs together, trying to keep herself steady, withhold the words that truly wished to come forth from her mouth. She truly wanted to speak her mind, but for safety fo her friend, she could not.
She was stuck.
Trapped.
She needed to find a solution.
"I've come here not by my own accord, but it seems as my friend who was brought along with me, rather likes it here, regardless of rank, she loves this place," loves having a home. Karm remembered home, but that was in the mountains, not here. "I on the other paw, do not wish to hold the lowly rank granted us, it is not in my blood."

He flicked an ear as she snapped at him. Then she made it completely clear. She wasn't happy to be taken in by them, and she hadn't the chance to join like he had. Bousvor eyed her with a bit of sympathy. He didn't know enough of the pride to offer a means that might help.
"Do you wish to talk about it?" How had her and her friend gotten captured?

"What is there to say?" she looked him over, saw his body posture, he was unlike her, it seemed, it made her wonder why he might care. Perhaps he recognized the strength she had? She could only hope. "My birthpride fell to pieces in the mountains, the plague returning, my family split up, I met another female while in the roguelands alone, but she was very unlike myself, not raised to be a guard, nor a warrior. Very naive, so we stayed together, I her friend, her protector, she, my company," and the only real friend Karm had.
But she left that out, of course.
"From then on, we were family, sisters, in another light. She always wanted a home, to not wander, one night, some of your males came upon us, she surrendered quite easily, not knowing how to fight, and I had to, for ensuring her safety," she did not need Fen'li mistreated. "I'm to behave for her security, here, but it isn't in my blood to be thrall, slave, my father and mother trained me as a guard, and a warrior in the tactics of my grandfather. Your pride holds strength, which I find akin to my spirit, but I do not wish to be so low as I am, I want to rise, but do not know if I am permitted to, what it could do for my friend's safety."
She blinked, watching him carefully, making sure he was not making her a fool for speaking, explaining.
"She is my family now, and I need to protect her how I can."

Bousvor gave a shrug. If she didn't want to talk about it, that was fine with him. He wasn't going to force her to do anything. For all he knew it could be too horrible for her to remember, much less talk about. The male listened with interest when she did decide to speak. He was curious why she didn't stay with some of her family.
"Why didn't you run?" He crossed his paws as he watched her. To him it was quiet obvious that she should have run away. Leaving her friend in the care of the other lions. Perhaps the family bond was strong in her. Bousvor tilted his head thinking.
"Perhaps you didn't because you felt you had to protect her here." He had feeling she mayhap didn't want to be separated from her friend. She could still protect her as far as he was concerned. Surely not all the Thralls were nice. He shook his head sadly. "Unfortunately I do not know enough to help."
Bousvor sounded sincerely regretful about that. It would not do the pride to have unhappy members. Even if they were just thralls. "I do know thralls are allowed to help others. Would that suit you?"

How would he not know enough to help? She scrunched her nose and eyed him. He appeared sincere enough, but still, Karm was hesitant to trust others so easily.
"I didn't run as I was raised to be strong, a guard, a warrior," but too many at once, she was unprepared. Out in the open she was out of her element. If they had been within the mountains back home...it would have been a different story.
"Help others?" she quirked a brow.
"Help how?"
She was no slave, but aid, was a different story, depending on the task. Albeit she would not do menial tasks with a smile, she believed them below her.

The male took a moment to collect his thoughts. His eyes watched the lioness, clouds floating by, an ant crawling over a rock. She needed a purpose to be happy. Finally he looked back to her. Did he state the obvious or let her figure out his meaning. Bousvor decided on the latter course.
"Not all thralls might feel comfortable coming to a reaver for help." He gave her a pointed look. How would she take his advice? Not that she'd ask for it. But. Bousvor turned away to give her time to think without him staring at her. He watched another lion strutting a distance off.

"What matter does it make to me? Reaver, thrall, warlord, all else seem to have higher authority than my own. So why should it matter to whom I seek assistance? And what should it matter vice versa, it appears I am to comply, though my friend may have no qualms with aiding at every task, every beckon call, I am no slave. I do not give in easily."
She huffed.
"I am a fighter, I was a guard, the help I seek is to rise above that? So again, why would it matter to whom I seek assistance? Should they belittle me, challenge and try to put me in my place?" she dared, them, she'd take their eyes in the night.

He was disappointed that she completely missed what he had been aiming for. She was so stuck on the fact she was a thrall that she couldn't see past it. Bousvor gave a sigh. He would have to explain it better.
"A great deal I would think. Yes you are a thrall. Yes others in the pride look down on you. But you have been trained for more," he emphasized with a jab of his paw. "You want to protect and care for your friend yes? What should happen if another thrall needed help, yet was too shy, or timid to ask a reaver for it? Let them suffer would you? Can you not see past your own woes that you are blinded by them?"
It was quite a speech for him. The male rose to his feet. Until she could see past her anger, he doubted any advice might be heeded. He could feel for her position, but could do nothing about it. "Think about my words. I hope that someday you might understand." Bousvor gave her a long look before slowly adding, "should you decide that being a thrall forever is too much to bare, and escape is not an option, then come to me and I will offer you a mercy killing." He hoped she would never come to him for that reason.

((I thought I posted to this, my apologies))
Karm huffed at him, let her claws rake into the earth. "I would protect any in my keep," Karm said with a low tone. She'd dare have another try to hurt one within earshot, within her grasp, and she would not hesitate, even if it meant punishment. She was not one to stand by and let others, the weak, be taken advantage of.
"I would seek no such mercy from your paws," and she held her tongue, wished to spat that perhaps he'd wish for such mercy from hers.
She growled, turned from him and went to find Fen. She did not trust this male, not for a moment. Especially not with Fen'li, with how naive the girl was.

DragonsRage24 Lol it's alright. <3 This wraps it up I think. Thanks Dragons! For one moment, one glorious moment, Bousvor thought she had it. That bright flash of self knowledge, but it was not to be. He sighed sadly and shook his head. Perhaps some day she would see his advice. The tawny male watched as she left, then rose and headed back to his den.
