Runa was not well-pleased by the return of Thorgrim and her sniveling sister. It wasn't that she minded their presence, but something about seeing her sister so cheery revolted her. She was quietly thrilled that something as foolish as her son's ill-treatment of that thrall upset Lena.

And it was thoughts of that thrall that made her think of Kjar. Runa had never taken much of an interest in thralls, but she couldn't help being impressed by the strength and brutality it took for Kjar to bend them to his will. Perhaps he could give her Gaved some advice on the matter. Runa was quite smug in the knowledge that anything Gaved did to further break Stygg would make Lena cry.

So her paws found their way to Kjar. Runa smiled at seeing the tawny lion. She had always had a soft spot for him, truth be told. If the dashing young Captain Thorgrim hadn't lured her away things might have turned out differently.

"Kjar," Runa said smoothly, her voice sweet. "A good day to you, Reaver."

"Rrrrruna," Kjar purred softly, golden eyes dancing along her fine form. Thorgrim was a fool; Kjar would be the first to tell him as much. A lioness such as Runa could not be kept like some stupid thrall - like her simpering, weak sister. A lioness such as Runa deserved more. She deserved to be free and wild like the lightning that often flashed across the sky.

As such, Runa deserved a lion worthy of that passion, that white-hot flash.

"How do you fare, Runa? Looking... mmm, delectable as usual." He offered her a toothy smile. "Is there some reason that you have graced me with your presence, hmm? How can I help you today? I am but a feeble-minded servant to your every need, Runa."

She was magnificent. One of the most thrilling lionesses in the pride. A spitfire. He wanted to possess her; ah, but such a volatile thing could not be kept. Perhaps she could be tamed?

Kjar's flirty manner was over the top, but it amused her. She smiled, pleased by his flattery. Runa wasn't normally one to succumb to cheap compliments, but she knew Kjar wasn't one to give cheap compliments to females.

At least, he wouldn't dare do such to her.

"My son, Gaved. He seems most displeased with his thrall. I had hoped you might see your way to giving him some advice on the proper training of thralls."

Just the rumor that Kjar had told Gaved how to beat Stygg properly would send Lena into hysterics. Ha! How terribly amusing that would be. Runa's smile widened at the thought. "You know how I have always admired your firm paw with them. Such shows of strength are impressive to a simple Freeborn female like myself."

Kjar was the type of lion who would never waste his time on complimenting a female. He was big, powerful, strong - there was simply no need to respect most of them. Thralls were different, as well; usually pet names were only given in order to strike terror into their hearts. Kjar would never compliment a lioness like he just had Runa.

Never.

But Runa was no simple Freeborn, despite the way she'd just labeled herself. His eyes flashed for a brief moment as a lazy smile crept over his face. "Of course, Runa. Of course. And.. thank you," he purred softly, dipping his head respectfully. "I have heard of this thrall. Perhaps I could teach him a thing or two."

He hummed softly, a calculating look in his eye.

"How did she end up in his capable paws, I wonder? The last I heard she belonged to that sweet, gentle, boring sister of yours - or at least her thick-headed husband."

While Runa generally felt honor-bound to defend Lena against insults (even if they were justly deserved), she didn't mind if Kjar railed against Lena and her husband. His words were only the truth, after all.

"Ha, yes. Thorgrim is rather thick-headed, isn't he?" Runa smiled. While she was the one to leave Thorgrim, that didn't mean he was allowed to be happy without her! Not happy with that milksop Lena, anyways. It was pitiful, truly pitiful.

"She was Lena's pet, but I understand Thorgrim thought Gaved could use a plaything," Runa said, wrinkling her nose a bit. While her son was doubtless as hot-blooded as any Reaver in his prime, she couldn't help being a bit disgruntled at the implication that Gaved couldn't find his own playthings. Or his own wife, come to think of it.

"Ahh, well. The return of the fabled Thorgrim undoubtedly brings changes that some would not agree to, in one way or another. And one would think Gaved perfectly capable of finding his own plaything. I met that thrall once. She seems a bit.. well."

Kjar shook a bit of dust from his mane.

"Lispy." His eyes honed in once more on Runa's perfect frame.

"But enough about stupid thralls and even stupider males. How have you been, Runa? I do not see as much of you as I'd like."

That was open for interpretation, but his voice had taken on a deceptively dangerous edge. There was a blatant hunger in his eyes and it was impeccably trained on the lioness before him.

In truth, Runa was relieved when Kjar changed the subject. She did not much want to talk about Thorgrim and Lena. If she had to blither on about them for too long, she would become unreasonably angry and start fussing like a spoiled child. That would never do. It certainly wouldn't do to impress Kjar, who was looking at her as though she were a delectable morsel.

Runa found she liked being looked at like a delectable morsel. Most sensible lionesses would have shied away from the look in Kjar's eyes (considering the brutality that Kjar was famed for), but Runa had always had a reckless streak. If Kjar dared test her, she would turn on him like a wildcat. But for now ... it was pleasantly dangerous. She allowed herself to preen slightly.

"I've been well. But life has been dull lately." She lashed her tail, grinning at Kjar. "And you, Kjar? I can't imagine you ever have a dull day. You must have been busy with all the new thralls coming in."

"Busy, indeed. A few have required a bit more force, but they always yield in the end." His expression was smug, but his eyes never lost that hungry, wild look that seemed to constantly burn in the yellow-gold depths. Kjar burned with the urge to claim, but one wrong move and he had little doubt that she would snap.

It was an interesting game to play, thrilling and full of danger.

"Have you no husband to tend to your every whim, Runa?" Had he said too much, too fast? He didn't care. It was part of the risk he took when it came to being forward with the lioness before him. He knew she could go from reasonable to wildcat in the blink of an eye.

Runa was well aware that Kjar wanted her, but she hadn't thought he wanted her as a wife. Kjar had always seemed too ... oh, too reckless, too driven. She thought of him as one of those lions uninterested in being tied down. But she couldn't imagine why he would bring up husbands if he wasn't trying to hint at something.

How very curious. She would have to find out what he meant.

Runa laughed lightly. "No. No husband." She returned Kjar's fiery look with a measuring stare of her own. "Have you taken a wife, since I last heard?"
PostPosted: Fri Jul 27, 2012 4:45 pm

Kjar shook his head, unblinking gaze locked on the captivating lioness before him. He was not a lion that had ever been tied down before - a fact that he blamed, in part, on the lioness before him. Even when they were both much younger, much more innocent, it had always been Runa. When she had taken Thorgrim as her husband, Kjar had been quiet.

Biding his time, waiting to strike.

"No wife. I find that my tastes are very... precise. There is one lioness that I favor, but she is... hmm. I do not think she can be tamed, and so I will watch her from afar until the moment she realizes that I would live my life to please her every whim."

Hmm, hmm. How very intriguing. Runa couldn't say she was interested. She had been mulling over the topic of suitable husbands just recently. Runa liked being free to do as she pleased, but she had grown to miss having a male around. It was so much more difficult to bend people to your will without a strong, fierce lion to back you up ... and Runa wasn't about to get her claws dirty herself.

She watched Kjar closely for a moment, idly tapping her tail on the ground as she considered. Kjar hadn't come right out and proposed, of course. She supposed he was feeling out the waters.

Well.

"If this lioness realized you felt so, I imagine she would consider it," Runa said. She was warming to the idea. Kjar was handsome, and certainly a lion to be respected. Or feared. Either would do. "As long as you proposed properly, of course."

Kjar let out a loud purr without quite realizing what he'd done. His eyes were flashing and a dangerous smile flitted across his muzzle. Things had just gotten quite interesting, and Kjar was not quite sure how to proceed. He appreciated the fact that Runa could keep him on his toes. It was invigorating, to be honest, and he could not help but push further.

"Of course," he rumbled, appreciative gaze locking onto hers.

"This will require serious thought. I would not want to.. go about this the wrong way. After all, if I misstep she may tell me to leave her be. It would be a tragedy."

The proper way to propose. Gods, she was magnificent.

"It would be a tragedy indeed," Runa said coolly.

Well, it seemed that she was done here. Kjar would help her son get Stygg in line, which was good ... but she was hardly interested in her son's thrall now. No, Runa was interested in seeing how Kjar would propose to her.

She would accept, most likely.

They would need a den ... and a thrall, of course. And, hm. A saltwife. One that would obey her and take care of such dull wifely duties as arranging meals and cleaning the floor. Runa had always felt a saltwife or two added to a male's reputation for virility and strength.

"Good day to you, Kjar," Runa said, favoring Kjar with a sweet smile as she turned to go.
