(( Sorry for the delay guys, my life's been giving me hell. XD; ))

Sinbad didn't seem to be capable of processing anything at the moment. He laid himself down beside the weakened and broken body of his mate and laid his head beside hers. The precious little bundles of fur lay curled in between their bodies, sheltered from the elements. He didn't know what to say, how to say it, and he certainly wasn't willing to leave her when she could be taken out of the world at any moment. He'd spend whatever time he had left where he should have been ... at her side.

"What should I do? They're newborn... they need their mother. I ne... I need..." He couldn't say it. His voice caught in his throat and nearly strangled him when he attempted to speak.

Gaddith dipped his head in greeting to his sibling and lifted his silver eyes to the horizonline. It might not go over too well for him to simply walk into the pride's territory after having been cast out... as much as he ached to return to the pride, his sister needed him by her side. There had been a part of him that had been ready to leave her to return to his family if she managed to find a mate to care for her, but following the events of that day he couldn't bring himself to entertain the thought any longer.

"Kosuke.... who has taken over as head of the Safi?"

"Quickly, this way!" He circled now and then, making sure Mwako'damu could still see him. He beat his wings, soon dropping next to the lion so he wouldn't lose him so easily. "I just hope we can get there in time!" One dune, then the next, they all looked the same to the untrained eye. But to those who called this place home, even as they shifted, each one had its own characteristic. Even with the sun in the sky and no stars to guide him, Kenta guided the way until blobs of red, black, and gold appeared on one. "There!"

The red lion shook his head at his half-brother. "Right now, nobody... As far as anybody knows Kenna's still around... But none of the Safi have seen her, only the Regents. I'm beginning to think she's become but a spectre of the desert..." He sneered, clearly not pleased with their aunt. "She clearly doesn't care about the Safi if she's still around..." Why else would she fold so easily? If they'd had a little more time... Only one generation of cubs had been born to the Safi before the merging of the prides back into one. Many had still be cubs, no less, so they hadn't even been fully raised in the Safi way. Kosuke made sure, though, that his children knew.

He looked to Sinbad, for the first time feeling a pang for his father. The love he had for Mzaa... It reminded Kosuke of the love he felt for Shula. Shula.... A realization dawned on him. "If Mzaa doesn't make it... Shula's just had a litter, about a week ago. There's only five this time... If the need comes up, she would be able to help with these little ones."

"You need to be strong," Mzaa said quietly to Sinbad, touching her forehead against his, breathing deep, memorizing his scent. She smiled, thinking of him, his eyes, their family, everything. Her life, though starting in a haze one day in a ravine, come here, had given her so much.

She regretted nothing.

"You need to take them to safety," when she heard Kosuke speak of his own mate,Shula, her ears perked and she opened her eyes to loko at the little ones. "I had spoken to Fia, once before, saying she, if anything, had to watch over the young," if anything were to happen, though her young, specifically, she knew not if she would be able to have such grace pass on her again, to be a mother a second time. "Sinbad, please, take the children, to Shula, make sure they are safe, have some others help, they are so small. But please," she said, with a sight wince, "I want to see the others." Her paw reached out to touch his.

She wouldn't be able to rise, knew knew it, and did not want to put more strain on herself.

Nakama listened to her mother speak, she was still so ashamed she got here so late. She let her head rest against her mother's side, opposite of he father, Nakama and Sinbad seemingly keeping Mzaa and the cubs sandwiched between them to keep them safe.

"What should I do?" Kessek whispered, looking to Nakama. She thought, and bit her tongue, then spoke.

"Go find Naar, Fia and Kidondo, do it." The bird flew off without hesitation. Kessek, though taught names, had been taught physical descriptions as well. She'd just have to be sure to find Fia not Ea, they were so close in comparison except for the eyes.

"They will need much guidance from family, all the family," Mzaa spoke to Kosuke, offering him a smile, she had gratitude for reaching out in this moment. If only she had had more time to be able to know him more. He was family, no matter what any might say.

Mwako'Damu ran over the dunes, following the bird, as fast as it was, as fast as his legs could carry him. As he covered ground, a thick, familiar scent came to his nose and his heart sunk, blood boiled with rage. Blood. Something had happened. As he crested the next dune he saw Gaddith, Nakama, barely, hidden behind his the forms of Kosuke, his father and mother.

His mother.

"No-"

He roared as he came down the dune, trying to alert any others nearby. Someone, anyone, help. As he neared, his eyes were a mix of anger, pain, and misery. He saw the cubs at his mother's side and his spirit ached.

"Mother-" his eyes held a shine and he hung his head low.

His siblings had returned, but while he had stayed, he had failed to protect her.

"Do not shed tears for me my son," Mzaa said, reaching and touching a paw to his toes nearest her.

His eyes raised to meet hers, and he only saw a calm in the silver reflecting back at him.

"You are strong, as your father and I always wanted, I will just have to watch from another point of view," she offered a smile and Mwako'Damu clenched his jaw and turned his head away.

It hurt, it hurt too much.

"You need to help your father move the children now, you have to be strong for them, don't let them know their big brother is anything but a fine warrior and watcher, hmm?" Mzaa said and she saw Mwako'Damu nod.

Mwako'Damu took a breath, let out the air and raised his head, looked to Kosuke, to Gaddith, his father, and just nodded. He would do as his mother asked, and later...later, something else would have to be done.

Sinbad shook his head slowly. He didn’t want to hear her talking like that… gods she looked terrible but she’d always been so strong. To see her like this, weak and clinging to life, strangled the words out of him. He couldn’t think of what to say. He knew the cubs needed to get somewhere safe but…they needed their mother. They needed her…gods, he needed her. “Don’t go.” He whispered quietly, his voice hitching slightly.

Gaddith’s maw twisted. Poor Sinbad’s curse hadn’t been lifted… he was of no use to them. Heartbreaking as the situation was, Mzaa wouldn’t want them to fall apart now. Her last moments in the world should be spent knowing that the cubs she’d mothered would survive. Her final thoughts had to be those of peace and assurance, not worry and uncertainty. Sinbad was unable to pull himself together… it was on them to do so.

“Kosuke, we need to get the others. One mouth for each cub. See if your mate will take them… and if Kenna won’t have anything to do with the Safi, you need to take charge. Someone, anyone, needs to lead this family. Father is not in the right mind to do so.” He glanced down th Mzaa and lowered his head to nudge his nose against hers.

“Mother. Save your strength. We’ll get them home.”

Kosuke nodded, then looked to Kenta. "Kenta, I need you to get someone else. Alert Shula, too, so she can prepare. We have five of us here now, we need one more. Bring me Soleil, and just in case Father can't do it for emotional reasons, Keahilani as well." He didn't want the bird carrying a cub - His claws were far sharper than a lion's, and newborns had far thinner skin than adult lions did. Theirs was already thickened against the harsh life of the desert and their warrior-like lifestyle, so the eagle's claws didn't tear him up. The cubs... He didn't want them to be.

The eagle gave a nod, jumping off the lion's back and flying off. As he beat his wings, he caught thermals and rose up into the air, trying to speed his flight. Time was of the essence, and he had to hurry. The young lion hatchlings wouldn't last long in this heat. Few things did, if it wasn't already an adult, and then those didn't often last long themselves unless they were smaller... Or the lions of the fire. The pride's central lands soon came into view, and he passed by Shumusi. The eagle tilted, before diving down and circling over a pair of snake-decorated lions. "Soleil! Keahilani! You're needed at the outpost this way! Your father sent me!" He turned and flew back in the direction of the outpost just long enough to be sure they were going the right direction, then circled back to go talk to Shula.

Mzaa simply smiled and nudged Sinbad, "You must watch over your children with the others now, you've more strength than I, go-" but her eyes said so much more. I love you her eyes spoke in silence, but she couldn't bare to say it aloud for the departure, coming as she felt it in her spirit, would become real, and she did not want to become scared, she needed to remain true, strong, firekin.

She rest her head on her paws and focused on her breathing, looked to her small children, not even a day's old yet. They would become strong, she knew it.

Mwako'Nakama knew that the cubs would be moved safely, but her mother seemed so settled on seeing the others before...before things Nakama could not come to think.

She only knew that soon it might be time to say good-bye, even if she wasn't ready, even if none were ready.

((Thank you guys for helping through this rp, there is one other rp that [if able to complete] will be between Mzaa, Nakama, Kidondo, Fia and perhaps Naar, that'll be a separate thread. Cubs born form this litter can be rp-ed <3 You are truly wonderful))
