His ribs had healed finally. He had been tempted to come back and challenge again before they were fully healed, but he had decided to do such a thing was to invite defeat again. No, he was determined. He would fight his way to the right to join the Stormborn! So he had spent the time span between his first attempt and now by training, pushing his body, making it stronger as the pain in his ribs ebbed, then ceased. Now he was back in good shape, better even than the first time he'd tried. He was ready!
However, he was taken aback that his challenge was being met by... a girl? He stared hard at her, trying to make up his mind. She had all the marks of a warrior... the thick muscle, the occasional mark of a scar. But... a girl? He'd not realized they let females be reavers here. He pondered protesting for a moment, then shrugged. If she was weak, he'd simply defeat her and be in. If she wasn't, then she's present the proper challenge this feat demanded. Either way, he'd play it like he would have if it was a male. Or at least, that was what he thought at the moment. Would it change? "Ready?" he growled, already coiling his body, running through things in his mind of "do this" and "don't do this." Leaping through the air was definitely on the "do not" list!

"Eternally," Zsaria called back, bracing her paws against the ground. She couldn't lose against an outlander, especially one who had already lost to another reaver. If she did, well there'd be mocking to come. If she were to step down from her position it would need to be in a blaze of glory, not a defeat. If she lost, well then her plans would have to wait. She didn't like to wait.
"It is a good day to die," she told the air, pressing herself low to the ground. Despite her experience she still felt her blood run cold just before a battle. It was invigorating.
Baring her teeth she rushed forward, aiming for his legs.

Wouldn't you know it, he was so caught up in his list, he nearly missed the fact that she'd launched her attack. He danced backwards, scooting and rearing up in an attempt to avoid her slashes at his legs. Balanced precariously on his haunches, belly sucked in to ward from blows to that vulnerable place, he didn't even have breath to snarl his frustration. His tail was helping to balance him, so he couldn't lash it in fury either. This was not going well from the very start!
Teeth gritted, forepaws in the air, he decided to make the most of his awkward position, and balled his paws into fists. As quick as he was able, he struck out repeatedly at the oncoming female's head, hoping to stun or at least deflect her from his bared underside. His breath was tight and constrained by sucking in his belly, and he felt faintly lightheaded. This only made him grit his teeth further in determination that he would not humiliate himself by passing out at the very start of this fight with a female of all things! Still, which was better? Lack of air, or slashes in the belly?.
