Mat stood back a bit and squinted, tilting her head this way and that. "Eh...kinda. But once it stops bleeding all the way I'll clean it up again, and then she'll never know!"

She hoped, anyway. She knew that if their mother did find out they'd both get a serious talking to, and that was never fun. Last time she hadn't been allowed out of the den for two whole days! She had gone stir crazy and had vowed never to do anything wrong ever again.

Of course, that promise had lasted all of a few hours. Then she was playing too rough again and getting dirty and laughing at the other cubs when she won a race or a game. She'd learn her lesson eventually, of course. But not now! Being a cub was way too fun!

"Does it hurt a lot?" she asked, tilting her head.

"Yeah, it stopped," Mat said as she leaned in, squinting just a bit to look for any dirt. None to be seen! She gave the cut a few more licks before lifting a paw to pat Shula's fur down so it wasn't sticking up.

"There. Good as new. Let's go!" She was all for adventure and fun, but she really didn't like getting in to trouble. She and her sister knew that once something like this happened, it was best to call it quits before they got into some real problems.

She took off in the direction of the den, checking to make sure Shula was following.
