Okay, so Gizmo is my evil little stubborn kitty. A few weeks ago he peed blood...I called the vet and he told me to give him chicken broth...that chances are it's a cat urinary infection...it's very common for cats to get it during the winter..mainly because it's cooler so they drink less water. (I gave him the chicken broth and gradually went back to giving him water) Well, everything was going fine after that and all of a sudden he started straining to pee. I knew he must have gotten another urinary infection...so I started to give him broth yet again...but he doesn't want to drink it this time around.
I took him off the dry food and put him on a wet food (also been adding more water to the one I feed him in the morning.)
He is peeing again...but now I have to think about what I should do. I looked it up and most people say canned food diet is best for cats. But I just don't want to give him canned food because it gives him bad gas and other fun stuff...
So I was thinking maybe I should give him dry food during the day and wet at night...
So people that have cats how do you feed them....also I left out he is an indoor cat. (I can't let him outside the dogs around here hate cats...)

If you have to try giving him water or broth with a syringe. That's what we had to do with our old cat. It was difficult so have some one that the cat trust that isn't afraid to get bit do it if you do try it.

A lot of owners give their cats a mix of dry and wet food. Wet food tends to be healthier and has more liquid, but dry food is good for their teeth.
I personally tend to give my cats mainly dry food, but I give them wet food every once and a while, especially if Lucie's dandruff starts actin' up.
Also, you might want to try to find ways to heat up your house a little, which might make your cat more likely to want to drink water. Also, you might want to try addin' some sort of flavor to the water, like maybe a few drops of fish oil or somethin', to try to get your cat to drink that. Or you could switch to beef broth.

My mom sticks to dry food and water for her cats to have access to all the time.
And during part of the day when it is usually dinner time, she gives them num nums which is usually good canned cat food (like Friskies etc.), and her cats are always just fine. They are crazy for num nums.
In terms of outside, she never lets them outside, only sometimes. And if she does let them outside, it is only the backyard for a few hours. They are mostly like 95% indoor cats.

It was difficult so have some one that the cat trust that isn't afraid to get bit do it if you do try it. I did do that when he first started to reject the broth...after 3 tries I stopped he would hiss, bite, and also scratch. After he bit the webbing between my thumb I decided it wasn't worth the fight...he wasn't swallowing hardly any and I was getting worried that he might start chocking. sweatdrop

Yes, I started to learn that from talking to a few friends that have cats...One of my friends do an all raw diet with her cat. I might try that with his with his water...He is a really hardheaded cat sweatdrop
