Tanhipom splashed in the once peaceful unrippled waters on the shore of the pond she had found while stumbling about around the hammock Mommy, she and her siblings slept in. She was still a bit clumsy, stumbling and sometimes even wobbling on her four little legs, and walking. But not when she found water. Her stumbling and wobbling didn't exist in the water. She attacked it, splashing at still puddles or dropping heavy rocks into serene streams. And the pond. This pond. Oh she knew what that pond was. Mirror Magic. Yep. It was meant to catch AND keep attention, pulling the victim into its world.
The first time Ta'hi had found an unrippled water, a still puddle, she'd lost the entire day. Mommy had had to come and carry her away she was so tired and hungry and exhausted from staring into the window that was the water. It showed her so much. And it wouldn't let her go. Not until Mommy had stepped close to it and ripples had disturbed the mirror. And so Ta'hi had found the defense against mirror magic. Disrupt it.
The pond was the biggest mirrored magic body Ta'hi had ever found. She stumbled back far enough to look and see if that had done the trick. Nope. The ripples faded even before it had reached half way to the center. Quickly, Tanhipom looked away from the pond's surface and made a quick and probably rash decision.
Taking a deep breath, Ta'hi turned back to the pond. Then she started rushing toward the water, a stumbling run and drive into the water. She splashed and generally made a lot of noise and splashes as she quickly learned how to keep her head above the surface. But not without bobbing under quite a few times. Good thing Mommy was there.
