There sure were a lot of new faces in the pride these days. Runa really wasn't terribly interested in outlanders as a matter of course, but she had heard that this bunch of lions had beaten her dear son. That was slightly interesting. They had also brought with them a lioness that her Kjar was interested in as a salt wife. Runa was still mulling that one over, but she had to admit it wasn't a bad idea. She would have to see more of this lioness's family, though. And so here she was at Parmelia's den, calling for the strange lioness to come out. "Parmelia, dear?" Runa called. She had heard the lioness's name, but never introduced herself before. Still, her tone was warm and friendly. "It's Runa." Of course the lioness would know her. Who wouldn't?

While Parmelia hadn't gone out and about much since her last meeting with Alouette, there were a few lions she found herself familiar with. She'd heard stories from thralls and freeborn alike, and it was because of this that she felt rather acquainted with lions and lionesses she didn't actually know. One of the lionesses she's heard of, Runa, was currently calling her name. Wilting slightly, Parmelia shuffled to her feet and meandered out to greet the lioness. "Runa, it's a pleasure to meet you. Please, won't you come in?" The den was small but immaculately kept, furs stashed to the side, clean and presentable. "To what do I owe this pleasure?"

At least this lioness was polite. Runa was entirely fed up with lionesses swanning in from the rogue lands, trying to fight with the males and setting themselves up as some kind of warrior-maidens. It was appalling, really. She sailed into the den, nodding at Parmelia as she passed.
It did look nice inside, too. Runa was pleased to see that the foreign lion Sakhr and his wife had some idea of how things were done properly. "Thank you, Parmelia. It's lovely to meet you, as well."
Runa had never taken on an outlander as a friend before, but this Parmelia seemed a decent enough lioness. "So. How do you like things here? Are you settling in well?"

"Well enough." Parmelia swallowed and seated herself, tail twining about her paws just the way she'd learned back home. It was habit, by now, to present herself as prettily as possible. "It's nothing like I was used to, that's for certain - but we were desperate to leave home. Sakhr did not want multiple wives."
She cleared her throat.
"It has been difficult to make friends, I'm afraid. My dearest friend seems to be quite taken by a peculiar lion, one who makes me very uncomfortable."

Was this how outlanders talked to one another? Just spilling their personal woes out to strangers? Runa was rather intrigued. She loved getting gossip out of people, but if she found herself in a strange pride she would surely be a bit more ... restrained.
The bit about multiple wives didn't really make sense to her. A lion didn't need multiple wives if he didn't want them. Most of them seemed aggravated by having more than one. She latched onto the bit about the 'peculiar lion', intrigued.
"Of course, of course it must have been difficult to make friends," Runa said. "So many of the lionesses in the pride now are not really our kind of people." Females running around trying to be Reavers. It was appalling. "Who is this peculiar lion? Maybe I can help you."

"I am not certain," Parmelia made a low sound of distress, ears flattening against her skull as she remembered the way her dearest friend had acted. "He is big and rather brutish, with silver bangles 'round his forepaws and a rather stuffy looking scarf 'bout his neck."
She gave Runa a worried look.
"He lives on the outskirts. A foul sort, and I worry for my dearest friend." Parmelia attempted to smile.
"I am very thankful for your help in this, Runa. It is nice to speak with one so friendly as yourself. I have not seen much of my relative, Tasnim, either, and so it has been quite lonely."

Quote: troll toll:Runa, veteran lover of gossip and scandal, thought she knew just who Parmelia was talking about. Or rather, the three lions that Parmelia was talking about. Stuffy scarf indeed. She could have snorted with laughter. For Parmelia's sake, she murmured a soft "Oh, no," and tut-tutted when appropriate. "I think I know who that is," Runa said, shaking her head dolefully. "Or who it might be. There are three lions like that, all brothers. I can hardly tell them apart." She leaned in and lowered her voice confidentially. "They are all foul, every one of them. I hear they lure multiple females to their den for unnatural acts." She shook her head again. "We should find a way to get her properly married, before any terrible rumors are spread about her." Tasnim, now. "I have seen something of Tasnim, actually. My own husband has taken an interest in her." Quote: pinchmonster:Parmelia looked about to faint. "Would you help me, then? Marry her off? I fear for her. I fear she might already be with cub - for when I went to visit, they were.. they.. they were," she lowered her voice, sounding utterly disgusted, "copulating. And she with no husband - she does know better, I promise - do not think ill of her, Runa. I would appreciate any help that you might be able to give me." On the topic of Tasnim, Parmelia looked helpless. "She is a sweet girl. Quiet, unassuming. I .. I do not know if his intentions are pure or not, but I would trust you to keep her best interests in mind, Runa. She is the only family I have here, and it would.. I would hate to see anything horrible befall her." Quote: troll toll:Quiet and unassuming. Runa rather liked the sound of that. She wouldn't mind a quiet, biddable lioness around to do as she said and distract Kjar when she had other business to be about. And Runa had always enjoyed lording it over Lena. Hm. She still wasn't thrilled that Kjar had gone off to find a saltwife on his own, but she might give this Tasnim a once-over. "I will try my best to look out for her," Runa said, patting Parmelia's paw soothingly. "I don't know much about her, truthfully, but she seems very sweet." "And your friend..." Runa sighed. " Copulating. With a near stranger. It's hard to believe that any lioness of good family would do such a thing!" It was hilarious, actually. She had always thought those Grei lions picked up thralls for their pleasure. A Freeborn girl had actually joined them for fun? It just went to show how ridiculous outlanders were. "We should certainly find her a good husband, if we can find any that haven't heard." Quote: pinchmonster:It was just so scandalous. All of it was. While the fact that Runa's husband was showing an interest in Tasnim didn't outrightly upset Parmelia as multiple wives were commonplace back home - it was Alouette's predicament that stood forth the most in her mind. All of this was just so upsetting. "I am just so thankful for your friendship, Runa." She truly was such a gracious and kind lioness. "I appreciate everything you've said, and I can only hope that Alouette comes away from this.. this.. situation relatively unscathed." Quote: troll toll:Runa had no problem with Parmelia, and no real reason to be delighted by her predicament ... but it was just so Godsdamned funny. The look on Parmelia's face when she'd said 'copulating' was priceless. And the thought of an outlander female taking up with the Grei lions of her own free will ... it was just too much. Too insane. "Of course, of course," Runa said, smiling at Parmelia. "We'll be ever such great friends, Parmelia. I can tell you are a lioness after my own heart." She was hardly worried about Tasnim at all any more, not with this fascinating distraction plopped in her lap. Snooping on the brothers Grei and valiantly trying to find a husband for one of their conquests would be an amazing adventure. "I should be on my way for now, but we will have to get together and think up a plan for Alouette. We'll get her away from those Grei lions before her reputation is tarnished." Quote: pinchmonster:Parmelia's lips trembled in a friendly, thankful smile as she dipped her head as graciously as she could. It was so nice to have made the acquaintance of such a nice lioness, and Parmelia couldn't have been happier. Well, that wasn't quite true. If Alouette was here with her, perhaps then she would have been happier, but that wasn't the case - which was unfortunate, but she would be thankful for Runa's friendship. "I thank you for your visit, Runa, and we shall talk soon." She watched the other lioness leave, a bright smile on her muzzle and hope flashing in her mismatched eyes.
