Varali had been sitting quietly for hours, staring at the craftsmen area of the pride, waiting for the artists to begin their work. She wasn't old enough quite yet to begin her apprenticeship for being an artisan but that didn't stop her from spending almost every minute of her waking hour dancing. However, today she was more focused on watching items that were to be worn by the people. Maybe one day she would they would be making items for her to wear while she danced. A surge of excitement pushed it's way through her veins at the thought. Then she grew even more excited as she noticed the craftsmen beginning to file over to their various workbenches to begin their work, each of them seemed like they were glowing in her eyes.
With a grin the little juve skipped over to look at what each one was going to making today. As she made her way from artist to artist (some gently nudging her away so they could work) she noticed one large lion (in her opinion) who was a paler blue then herself, but who seemed to also have spots--on his legs--but his purple-ish blue hair was something she hadn't seen before. This only added to her already growing interest in him. She wondered what he could be making. Varali swiftly found a place next to him and smiled sweetly. "What are you making?" She asked, her blue eyes sparkling.

Coelestinus loved his work in the pride. He might have come to the pride not too long ago, but the lion felt like it was the best thing he and his brother had ever done. Coel had really found his place with the pride as a crafter, and while his brother might say that he was a bit obsessed, the blue lion, was more inclined to think of himself as dedicated. So what if he forgot the occasional meal when he was working on a project. He could afford to eat a little less often than what his brother seemed to think was proper. Who could eat when there was work to be done anyway? Coel had been up early, but was being distracted by his brother. The blue male had been forced to subject himself to the morning meal with everyone else instead of working. It was not that he minded eating with the others, it was more he wanted to be working and not eating so much of the time. Coel would have much rather done is socializing and eating while still working. That seemed ideal to him, though he doubted it would ever happen. Most seemed to think him a bit standoffish. He was sure his brother wanted him to make friends and maybe find a mate. Coel just did not have time for these things. Coel padded to his work area and got to work. He did not notice the juve watching him until she spoke. When she did so, he looked up from his work and smiled. A young one taking an interest in artisan work of any sort was a good thing. "I am making some strands of beads for pretty lionesses to wear on themselves." It was a simple project, but they were always in demand. He enjoyed even simple things like this, because he was being productive.

Her blue eyes scanned his work once more before her eyes wandered to his maw. A smile crept over her own. "Do you make them for the dancers as well?" She asked, not entirely sure how the work was divided up between the crafters; if at all. "It's very pretty." Varali added, her eyes once more finding their way to the strand of beads. Once again her mind was off in fantasy land. Her fantasy now? That she was an adult, dancing and that these beads (which were in very long strands) draped over her back. Maybe even shakers were attached and that every time she moved they would make a wonderful sound.
When she came back to reality she swayed slightly, looking as if she was enjoying music that only she could hear. "I wonder if they would look good with shakers.." She mumbled just loud enough for him to hear. "My name is Varali!" The blue juve added with a grin, her attention pulled away from his work to him once more. Quote: I totally didn't forget about tagging this... emotion_awesome Also, she's now an adult!

Coel smiled as he looked down at his work and then back to the cub again. "Oh yes, I have made some for dancers... but they prefer bangles and feathers usually... or strands of shakers for paws and tail." The male was quite content with the conversation, even with the cub zoning out. He knew that feeling all too well when he got working. "I think shakers could easily be put in a strand, but I'd likely make it heavier than these." The male thought about that for a bit. Beads to catch the light and shakers to make noise might catch on, but he would have to design them a little differently.
Coel was spaced out for a few moments but when he came back, he remembered that he needed to answer the introduction he was given by the cub. "I am Coelestinus, young Varali. Most call me Coel, it is a little easier to say." He grinned down at her and picked a few beads out of a leaf basket. "Perhaps some day I'll be making some of these for you? Sooner rather than later, I would think." He had had mothers bring their daughters to get such things not much older than this juve, so he was sure he would see her soon enough.

Varali thought about the idea of the feathers and bangles. She liked to watch them move through the air as the dancers moved their body. "They always look so pretty." She nodded. "Really?" She hadn't considered that they would be heavy. Then again, she didn't really know the specific of items like these. Maybe one day she would try to learn more about what the crafters did but right now her mind and life in general was completely wrapped up in dancing. "Maybe they would have to be nuts?" Varali asked, slightly curious to know a little bit more about the designing process.
"Nice to meet you Coel." She beamed a sweet smile. His next comment made her pause, her maw giving the impression that she was thinking. "Probably soon?" She replied in a slightly questioning tone. "My aunts and uncles got theirs crafted around my age." Varali grinned, a small giggle escaping. "Then again, my Eywa might wait until our coming of age to bring us." Her mother would probably do that. It would be her final gift to her children before they had to begin their adult lives and leave their family hammock. Varali could see her mother trying to hold back her tears or letting a few stream down her cheeks with that day came. They were her first litter after all. They were born of the people while her mother had only came here when she was about Varali's age. Every milestone meant something different to her mother then it probably did for most other mothers in the pride.
"What are your favorite items to make?" Varali asked curiously now that she had moved on from thoughts of her mother on the day of her coming of age ceremony.

Coel put some beads on the strand as he continued speaking with the juve. He had to get his work done afterall, and besides, he was sure that she would take some interest in seeing him string some beads. Beads were colorful and beautiful, so they always caught attention in the best way, in his opinion. "The dancers do always look very beautiful, but so do many of the other lions and lionesses in the pride when they are dressed in their best." He had seen some of the priestesses and huntresses that he would say could give the artisans some hard competition for beauty in both looks and items they adorned themselves in.
Coel chuckled a bit as he continued stringing beads. "I see a lot of youths not much older than you coming to get things that they continue to wear for a long time to come. I try to keep an eye out for those that might want something special early." Which he did. Just like he made a mental note of what this cub had mentioned of shakers on bead strands to see if he could make such a thing. He would likely make it and put it back for her for when she was older.
It would never occur to him that some might take that the wrong way, because to him, it was just being a good crafter and sharing his craft through what would truly make another happy. Coel did have to give the young lioness' question a bit of thought as he strung more beads. "I think weaving things is my favorite... it makes for very beautiful designs." He thought it was one of the most beautiful ways to make a simple design look eloquent.

The young Varali was of course entranced with anything to do with the arts and seeing these items come to life was certainly a very thrilling moment for her. "You're right." She said with a smile before shaking her head a little at the thought that they could be prettier. After all, the obsessed usually couldn't look past their own obsessions. "One day I want to be an Artisan. One that dances." Varali said as she imagined who would be wearing these beads.
"You're very kind." She replied. "You take a lot of consideration in of your subjects." Varali added. By subjects she of course meant the Navi who would be wearing his pieces of art.
Varali nodded as he told her his favorite way of making items. "I think I would have to agree. I have seen some of our brothers and sisters wearing items that have been woven and they always look stunning. Hard but soft at the same time." She said, not realizing that what she had said might be a bit confusing. "Coel, what colors do you like? Are there any you never get to use in items?" Varali asked.

Coel chuckled as he worked. "The best pieces compliment and enhance those that wear them." He was of the opinion that if the item did not match the person, that he should never have made it for them. Along those same lines, if he had something already made up, he would not give it to someone that it did not match unless they truly insisted on it. He did not like mismatched, or as he saw them, 'unhappy' items. He was a true perfectionist when it came to his craft.
Coel put a few more beads on the strand as he spoke to the youth. She was going to be a dancer? The male certainly could see that. She seemed to have the energy and spring to her step for it. He hoped she would enjoy it as much as he enjoyed his crafting. "I like many colors, greens and purples are my favorite, I do not often get to use yellow or orange... and almost never red." The aversion the pride had to hot colors was an interesting thing to Coel.
