PG-13+, and All It Implies
As you've probably noticed, the guild runs on a PG-13+ rating level basis. We claim that you should keep this rating in mind while you post, while you roleplay, and, now, while you join us in chat.
There are a few reasons for this:
1) "Gaia Online is not available to persons under the age of 13" (Gaia ToS). This means that, if you are under the age of 13, you are not allowed to have an account on Gaia.
2) Most roleplays run on a PG-13 basis. This is good practice for you out in the real-world of roleplaying.
3) Some people are uncomfortable surrounded in more risque situations. It's understandable and should also be accounted for.
What does PG-13+ mean to us in the guild?
PG-13, at its core for movies, means "such films [with this rating] may contain moderate violence, some suggestive material and nudity, some sexual situations, brief strong language and/or soft drug use" (Wikipedia).
When the guild claims to be PG-13+, we are really following in the footsteps of GaiaOnline. We are taking everyone below the age of 13, and removing them from our sample, so to speak. So, all that's left are those who are 13 and older. Hence, PG-13+.
What isn't allowed, then?
1) Everything that GaiaOnline outlines in their ToS and their Rules and Guidelines are strictly not allowed in the guild. Not ever. This is in both the guild and in the chatroom.
2) Keep everything in moderation. When you start pushing into the R-rating, you need to back off. This includes "rough and/or persistent violence and suggestive material, hard language and horror, crude sexual content, sexually-oriented nudity, and/or hard drug use" (Wikipedia).
3) Just keep in mind that Diamond Wales can see almost everything that happens on Chatzy and in the guild. If you are afraid of her seeing something that you said/posted, then there's obviously something wrong with what you posted. Also be mindful that nothing is truly 'deleted' from the internet. This includes posts in the guild; don't post something you don't want a billion strangers to see. You might be able to delete it, but I guarantee someone saw it while it was up for the time that it was.
What happens if I break the rating limit?
First of all, we hope that it never comes to that! We want to impress on our members how important it is to be mindful of others around them while they are roleplaying and to respect their fellow members in these regards.
However, if anyone is found posting inappropriate material (entering into the R-rating), the steps are as follows:
First Offense: The member will be asked to change the post with a warning and be asked to stop posting such material. On Chatzy, their entry will be deleted, they will receive a warning, and will be asked to stop posting such material.
Second Offense: (This includes reposting the material/not listening to a crew member) The post/entry will be deleted, the member will be banned from the guild/Chatzy for 24 hours, and will receive a warning/request to stop.
Third Offense: The member will simply be removed from the guild and be revoked Chatzy privileges.
After that: If they continue to cause problems, they will be reported to Gaia.
Please let the crew know if you have any questions about our rating!
