In the cavernous hold of Mother's, secluded on her favorite wall, Eris stood unaided for the first time in weeks. Her pregnancy had not been easy, despite the facade she played. It was not within her soul to take help from others, and yet when she had found herself unable to walk on her own for the latter half of the journey, Eris had been grateful.

She stretched along the length of the ground before curling back around the little ones. The pain, discomfort, and unease had gifted the pride with six little additions; four strong sons, and two clever daughters. Soon they would wake to meet their true family.

Eris chuckled. "Wings of fancy, wings of war," she murmured. "Tell me little ones, which is thicker? Blood or water? One so pure and strong, clear and kind, but also very free willed. The other tainted and dark, callous and corrupt with the strength of a thousand souls. I wonder, then, what kind of souls you shall be? "



Sandalphon awoke when he was picked up in his mother's maw and deposited ontop of her stretched out paws. In other females it may have been seen as a loving act, but Eris nipped his ears to wake him.

He pushed against her until he tumbled onto the ground beside her. The young male showed his displeasure by hissing at her, and rubbing at his ear with his paw when a shiver went through him. Was that...? There was spit in his ear! Groooossss!

[Tanakako]

it was the irritated hissing of his white-winged sibling that stirred Kianoush from slumber. The darker cub was almost an exact mirror image of his brother, from his darker coat to the red demon-wing marking on his side and bleary red-hued eyes... Lip curling to show of tiny little fangs, Kianoush grumbled in annoyance at his hissing brother for disturbing him. Blinking repeatedly despite the low lighting in the underground haven, Kianoush had to screw his face up and peer out between slitted lids before his inexperienced eyes could make out his surroundings. Huffing he squirmed over onto his belly before pulling his stubby cubby legs under him. Well, if he had to be awake, he wasn't going to just lay about.

Pulling himself up onto somewhat unsteady paws, he stumbled a step or two before finding some kind of uncertain balance. Ignoring his instability, the young cub gazed about, eyes still narrowed against the fluttering light of the fireflies.

Lirona heard the commotion and opened her eyes. She looked at her brothers, her eyes half opened. It was tempting just to fall back to sleep again, but she decided that if her brothers were up, she should be up as well. She stretched before standing up. "Good morning mother." She said with a smile toward Eris. Her attention went to her brothers. After letting out a yawn she greeted them. "Morning brothers."

She playfully batted her tail at them. "Sleep well?" She asked, her eyes still adjusting to the light provided by the fireflies. She tapped her other brother Taharka on the head. "Are you up Taharka?"



Before waking up Taharka had a pretty good dream. When he felt his sister's paw tap him, he opened his eyes. His attention went to his siblings. He gave them a half smile before slowly getting up. "I am now." He said with a half smile. Typically he was a heavy sleeper, able to sleep through most noises. However whenever he got touched he would wake up a lot quicker. He hated getting woken up that way, though he usually didn't show it unless he was having a really good dream. As quickly as his tired legs would move him, he moved a bit away from his siblings.

He did a couple stretches. Today he hoped they would explore the caves a little. The way the fire flies shown made him want to see more of the pride. "Today are our fathers coming to see us?" He asked hopefully.

The commotion around her caused Buziba to stir, the first signs of her waking spirit the slight swiveling of her ears. A quick yawn, and she pushed herself to her feet, ready to face the day.
Or not, as she quickly toppled right over in her sleepy state.
With a groan and a shake, she was up again, her features a sparkling reminder that she was definitely a cub, overflowing with energy so soon after waking.
She spotted Kianoush and her inner competitive self kicked into full gear, as she quickly wobbled her way towards him, determined to walk farther than her siblings had yet.

Themba woke up all at once, his attention caught by the absence of siblings sleeping at his side more than the noise they made. He woke in time to catch Taharka's question about their fathers. Although he shared Taharka's hopefulness, he also felt a faint stir of unease. His fathers were strangers, after all. Would both his fathers have wings, leaving him and his mother the only one out? He huddled against his mother's side, looking about him with bright, curious eyes.

"Perhaps." Eris responded. It seemed as if every one of her little fur worms were waking up. Her eyes scanned the group, watching with mild curiosity as first Kianoush, and then Buziba pushed the limits of youthful endurance. It was a chain reaction; once one cub started to move, the rest were sure to scatter.

She wondered if they would be staking their claims in different areas of the cave by the time their fathers arrived. The idea of little paws and mewling growls made her laugh. "Stay close. Creatures far darker than nightmares wait for cubs who disobey." Granted, it was as light hearted of a warning as it could be, but Eris made sure to keep it vague enough to scare them.

It was then that she made her rounds as resident snuggler. They started with Taharka and Lirona, then on to Kianoush and Buziba, only to end on Sandalphon and Themba.

Being crowded up with his wuss of a brother put Sandalphon on edge. He struggled against his mother, and more importantly, Themba. There was absolutely nothing pleasant about sharing his time with that...that...spotty butt!

Sandalphon grabbed hold of Themba, wrapping his paws around the other cubs shoulders in order to n** at his ears.
