He had seen this place, before. No, his paws had never walked these rocky shores. He'd never smelt the salt air of the sea. But he had seen this place, before. In his mind. Behind his eyes. He saw it in bright colors; a skewed, rainbow vision of this land of warriors. He knew it was to be home. And he knew what it took to gain access to these lands.

Björt stood tall on the pridal borders. The light was fading in the distance; the lion was a shadow on the horizon of the pride. The sea crashed in the distance, and he simply stood, pulling in a deep breath before releasing a roar. A call for challenge.

A tawny head with a white mane lifted at the sound of a roar. Bousvor knew that sound. He lived for it. It was a sound he'd long become familiar with since his joining, as accidental has it had been. The large male pushed himself gracefully to his feet and stepped out to meet the challenge. Something about these fights, not to the death, that always stirred his blood.

It was darkening and he realized his opponent was difficult to see in the fading light. Something to his advantage surely, and possibly why he'd chosen this time to challenge. Bousvor was going to be more visible longer with his lighter colors and white mane. It would take cunning and strategy to beat this one. He approached and bobbed his head to acknowledge the challenger. Giving him the change for first move, and also to help Bousvor determine were he was for his own strike.

The dark lion lowered his head as the brown male approached him. It was almost like a bowing motion. Some sort of form of respect. So this was it, then? The beginning of things. Was he supposed to say anything? Was he... was he just supposed to begin? Björt gave a halfcocked smile, tilting his head to the side. The rainbow tuft of his mane shifted, bright even in the darkness. "Shall we begin, then?" he called, voice holding an air of whimsey even in these serious circumstances.

Without giving much pause, the lion's body lowered, hugging close to the ground, before he leaped forward, a paw outstretched and aiming for the legs.

He noted the respect given to him. Was it because he was a member of the pride or for accepting the challenge? Either way he still intended to win this fight. His eyes caught the few spots of color on the other male. Those would bare watching, but not worth staring at. Bousvor knew there was more to the lion than those three spots. Still they would help him to keep track of his opponent.

The male nodded at the other's question. Either rhetorical or serious it didn't matter. The challange had been issued and must be answered, unless the challenger withdrew. He had a bare moment to notice the disappearance of most of the color. There was no time for him to decide which direction the attack would come from. He guessed, and ducked.

The wrong choice, Bousvor realized as he felt his front legs being swept out from under him. He made a valient effort to save himself, but still went down hard on his shoulder. Quick as a snake he sprang back to his feet. His eyes swept the area, trying to once more locate his opponent.

Excitement surged through his body as Bjort leaped back from his attack. He'd made contact. He'd made contact! The lion did his best to keep his cool; this was no time to be getting overly excited. Still, the black lion gave a toothy grin as he faded back into the shadows. The color on his pelt was still bright enough; he wasn't completely hidden in the dark. But they way he figured, if he just kept moving then he could keep his opponent on his toes and perhaps get the upper hand.

He couldn't wait for too long; this lion was an experienced fighter, that was for sure, and Bjort had to keep striking while he still had a bit of an advantage. The lion weaved around the white-maned male, moving quick before darting close once more and striking again, this time an attempt to push the other male to the ground.

Eyes and ears were highly attunded for any stray movement or untoward sound. Bousvor also didn't sit still. Staying in one spot was for prey. One thing he surely was not! The tawny lion thought he caught a glimps of color, but wasn't sure. He didn't give away his suspicion though. Acting as though he'd never seen that possible color. This opponent was good at hiding.

He had seen the color splotches of the other male. Bousvor realized that as the lion came in for another attack. Though he was ready, he wasn't in a position in which to attack himself. He wasn't actually attacked either. The male resisted being pushed to the ground by simply stepping back. He lead the other on for several steps, always falling back whenever the male pressed forward. Until it was just right and he bucked as he'd watched prey do numerous times. Just because he wasn't prey didn't mean he couldn't use their techniques.

The bucking caught Bjort off guard. He intended to keep pushing forward; if there was no space for the other lion to push, then things would be fine, right? The sudden press of the tawny lion bucking forward made the dark male stumble back, giving a huff grunt.

But he couldn't stay down for long. He couldn't let the other lion get any sort of advantage. Bjort hugged the ground as he hit it, stabilizing himself as quickly as possible before he lunged forward once again, aiming low at the lion's footing once more.

I'm so sorry! My muses dumped me for awhile.

The untraditional move gave him a couple moment to catch his breath and gather his wits. His opponent was certainly showing his tenaciousness in not letting something get away. This time as the challenger came in though, Bousvor was prepared. The tawny male waited until the last moment then leapt upward. If all worked out then his challenger would end up under his paws. If not, he'd still be on his feet and ready to counter whatever came next.

No worries! <3

The sudden upward leap caught Bjort off guard and, before he really had a grasp of what was happening, he found himself pinned under the tawny lion's paws. His teeth grit tight; he was pinned, and he couldn't stay like this for long and still hope to pull out of this on top. This required quick thinking. The lion swiftly pulled his legs to his body quickly bucking upwards in an attempt to give enough of a push to the other lion to escape his pinned situation before pressing forward with all of his weight in his own attempt at a pin.

His skyward bounce caught his opponent unwares. Bousvor decided it might be worth practicing in the future as his stealthy challenger found himself trapped under tawny paws. For a brief moment, the large male thought this might be the end. To his surprise the black male wasn't out yet. A swift blow to his gut robbed the tawny male of his breath. Bousvor took a couple steps back as the male wiggled free then turned the tables on him.

Finding himself, in a rare position, pinning under the paws of the other there was nothing to do but admit defeat. He waved his paw to signal the other to back off a bit. Once sitting up and his breath caught, he gave a nod of approval.

"Quick thinking on your feet." Bousvor gave a shrug for Bjort to follow him and headed back toward the pride with a new member.

Sure thing! Thanks for the RP! <33

As the duel came to an end, Bjort moved away from the lion and found himself with a bright grin on his face. He had done it! The lion hadn't thought himself a fighter, and had trained long and hard on his way to the pridal lands. The knowledge that his work had paid off brought a wave of relief over his body. Bjort did his best to contain his excitement, but there was little that could be done. With a half-cocked smile, he nodded and followed the lion into the lands. In towards the Stormborn.
