Crime of opportunity?

The push was so "strong" the poor horseboil went right in ying and sending her into the bog.. "Oh my!" Jing exclaimed in mock horror.

"Jiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing," Ying whined with big eyes as she sat in the bog and tried not to cry. "You- you big dummy!"

Now look what you've done.

Look at it.

You made your sister cry.

Going back to square one she recollected the root once again. She was becoming quite adept at this step and then suddenly Ying was pushed into the bog.

Yuzhi's face showed disapproval as she went to Ying's side, "Honestly. This is no way for a brother to behave. So awful," she scolded at Jing not really caring if he'd listen to her or not. She wasn't shy about pitting her big brother against the other horseman either.

Ying was acting so demure and petite and crying.

That conniving little...

Jing wasn't sure what her game was but the pout he had on his face was the only means to defend himself. "I was pushed." he fought back feebly.

but it did help bring the rot root to the surface in the scuffle, thank you clumsy sister. you might get a cookie later from it.

Ying sniffled and dug around in the water until she found her bag. If she was going to be muddy and disgusting, she was going to at least get her herb back!

AND make Jing's life miserable.

She stood up from the muck and said, "No Yuzhi! He is the best brother. Watch, he will hug me to make up for his wrongdoings." She then naively opened her arms and fully expected a hug. A mud-covered, swamp water smelling, awkward height difference hug.

Your move Jing.

Once she was sure Ying was sort of alright. She moved to gather the next ingredient but this time less painfully and more successfully. When she was told to watch she laid her pale gold eyes on Jing and watched intently for the hug that she expected would come.

You better hug your sister, Jing.

Prove Yuzhi wrong.

The pokerface on Jing's face was in place. even when he went to give Ying a hug. the shortest hug in the history of hugs.

ugh.

"There, now go back to finding things."

he was going to get her back, he swore it to himself and her little Yuzhi too.

Sisters.

He spent the moment zening in the shrub where the Ascide bud was said to be and plucked one into a satchel.

Ying just stared at Jing as they hugged. Externally she held nothing but a sweet smile and a sisterly gaze. But internally?



Of course karma bit her in the a** as she stepped on another thorn. She frowned a big fat frown and sat down in the mud to apply more salve to herself. She was already covered in mud. Why not lose even more dignity?

"See? Doesn't he look like a good brother?" she insisted, gesturing to his now dirtied clothing. At least she could still make stabs at Jing. Never not jabs at Jing.

Yuzhi's eyes narrowed a bit at the barely satisfactory hug. Needless to say Ying had the smaller horseman snowed over good, so much so that Yuzhi believed that her fellow female clanswoman was in the right.

Alas Jing was hampered by Yuzhi's own bias toward her brother Tseng. No one beats Tseng at anything. Ever.

"...Mmm. Yes. I suppose," she said softly and then went to get the next ingredient.

...Only to balk at the fact that she was noticed and she immediately backpedaled away from that area.
