Clouds were in the sky. Yu stared up at them, wondering if there were clouds where Munyu was. Indeed, he worried about his nephew. Granted, of course, that he knew Susu had simply taken the white lion from someone ELSE... He wasn't born yesterday, he knew she'd never been pregnant. The rest of the pride was easy enough to fool, but not Yu. Still, he'd simply gone with it - At least she'd picked one who looked like her, after all.
The Reaver picked his way along a stony path, wondering for a moment how long it had taken to wear it down so much. How many lions had walked this path before? Many were priestesses, he knew... After all, it was the path to the priestess dens. When he got close, though, he didn't see Susu. His intention had been to ask if she'd Seen anything about Munyu. He let out a sigh, taking a seat for a moment. He'd have to wait for her, from the looks of it...

It had taken two days worth of work, with hardly any sleep to keep her going, but Thokk had finally gathered the materials needed for her ritual. Well, sort of. The catalyst was still missing, and though they were abundant within the pride, Thokk was having a difficult time tracking down a suitable specimen. Perhaps she was just being picky, but the priestess was nothing but thorough when it had come to the matter of breaking her 'curse'; and, only the finest component would do in this case. It was a tricky business breaking curses, and the smallest of details may botch the whole thing. That would be unacceptable to Thokk.
So she had cleaned herself up, had Raki fetch her a quick meal, and was now prepared to continue in her search for the perfect specimen. Or, the closest she could get, that is. Having left her den no more than a few moments before, and traversing smoothly down the worn path towards the pride's main living area, she happened upon the sight of a lone male. This gave her pause, and she studied him openly, looking for any glaring flaws upon his person. Hmm. It would suffice.
Making up her mind to approach him she continued down the path in his direction, dark ears flicking back and forth in contemplation and calculation. She paused in her step once she had come within easy conversing distance, wondering briefly what he was doing out here by himself, but deciding she didn't care enough to ask. His business could wait, it did not matter to her. "Lion, are you by chance a reaver?" She worded the question quizzically and dry, but not unfriendly in tone. It was a delicate balance of speech that Thokk had perfected, neutral but earnest. The ritual was picky with the sort of components it reacted with, and Thokk would need to measure him carefully.

Jovi of Shadows Sorry that took so long to reply to, things got a bit hectic for a proper RP reply ;3; His attention on the path the rest of the way to the priestess' dens had waned, the golden-haired black lion's gaze wandering to some grazing hares. Curious little creatures, what was his sister's obsession with wearing them? For that matter, where had she gone off to? Was she even in her den?
Yu gave a start at the question, looking up to find one of the other priestesses. Thokk... He remembered her from descriptions alone. While Susu never talked about really ASSOCIATING with her priestess sisters, she was no end of information about them. Most she felt neutral toward - Thokk was one of the more neutral responses. The one with the multi-colored back marks was another, but she wasn't here, Thokk was. "Oh... I was waiting for Susu. I think she may have already left for the morning, though... I was going to ask her about Munyu and how he's doing out on his first Viking." He did rather miss the young white and black lion...

She wasn't sure if he was deliberately avoiding her question, or if she had just startled him too badly for him to reply. Her maw flicked into the slightest of frowns as her pale eyes glided over the dark lion's form. Hmm. By the time he had finished speaking Thokk had returned her gaze to his, and a more curious expression graced her features. She knew many of the old-blood families, having grown up around them, but the young Thokk was still getting to know the outlanders that had joined the pride since she became a priestess. "Are you related to the priestess?" He talked as though he might be. Though the familiarity he used may just have been his way of speaking. She could not be sure.
Regardless, Thokk hadn't gotten to know Susu very well, and only vaguely remembered the light pelted lioness hailed from the rogue lands. She was not of old blood, but she had been able to rise up to the position anyway. Thokk supposed she could admire that, at least little. As for the lion that currently held her attention, he was at least physically acceptable. No obvious deformities, full mane, and he was large enough to be considered a reaver. Adequate, was the word for him. "Well, since you cannot do what you came here for, I could use your assistance in one of my rituals", she said at length, looking him over once more before deciding he would suffice. She turned to pick her way back up the path, expecting he would follow, and hesitating just once to glance over her shoulder, "It will not take long."

Jovi of Shadows I hate RL killing my muse >[ He lightly inclined his head. "Susu is my sister." Well, half-sister. They shared a father, at least. Granted, their mothers were very different, but the bond was still there enough that they treated one another like full siblings.
His eyebrow went up. "Ritual...?" His chin lifted as he inclined his head further. "What sort of ritual?" It was a question born of curiosity, that dangerous little personality trait that had gotten him separated from his mother for so long she'd had a litter, raised it, and gotten pregnant again before they met. Now he was curious about this ritual... Susu had borrowed bits of him before for some strange little rituals, mostly just hair... There was that one time she had him spit in something... He wasn't sure of the purpose of that, maybe she just didn't want to be the one to curse her enemies and avoid it biting her back. Who knew, Susu was weird. This had to be something relatively tame in comparison.

Andranis xD It does that to me too. Don't worry, I'm patient. So he was related to Susu. Thokk hummed at that, pleased by this information. It was one thing to find a suitable reaver, another to stumble onto one with favorable blood-relations. "That is good", she told him, thinking more aloud to herself than to him. It seemed she need not look far for the catalyst to her ritual, as the Stormborn gods must be favoring her today. A good sign, it must not be wasted!
"My, my, aren't we full of questions?" she posed in a dry humor, undecided of if she liked it or not. In the end, as long as he followed after her she figured it was alright. Her delicate steps did not give pause, instead she spoke as she picked her way along the path, slowly, but relentlessly so. "The sort to break a curse, Curious-one", Thokk replied. "I am in dire need, and it cannot be done without... assistance." Breaking curses was a tricky business as is, but breaking one's own curse was something else entirely. "Come along now, it is not wise to keep the gods waiting." Everything had been prepared in the nights before, the carvings, offerings, and anointed oils and salves need not be wasted this day.

Jovi of Shadows Look, record time for me so far! emotion_awesome (And Uptown Girl was playing on my playlist... lol Make of that what you will xd ) His eyebrow went up, but he made no direct comment on why it was good who he was related to. He'd find out soon enough...
The dark lion began to follow the lioness, even before she told him what she needed him for. "A curse..." A deep curiosity welled up in him. "What sort of curse, if I may ask?" He picked over rocks, stepping as carefully as the priestess. "Gods never wait, do they?" Some did, most didn't. Which for something that didn't die of old age, they could be rather impatient with mortals with much more finite lives. "Whatever it is.. I will help you." That was Yu, willing to help most. Even the family's little Thrall... He hoped that didn't come back to bite him in the butt one day, Bousvor likely wouldn't let him live that down!

Andranis Bah! My turn to be slow. x.x Silly work, eating me alive like I'm tasty or something. She mulled over the explanations she could give him, all the lies in the world within her grasp, but ultimate Thokk had nothing to hide, and no reason not to be truthful. She wasn't exactly a private lioness after all, and she supposed he deserved some sort of reward for actually coming along with her. "A powerful one, uttered by my mother in her dying breathes", she allowed, craning her neck to eye him out of the corner of her vision. "It was meant as a blessing, I'm sure", she shrugged before continuing. "But in the end, she cursed me with her same fate: to die young with a broken heart and unbearable pain. True love. You'll have to excuse me if I'm not particularly keen on following in her paw-prints."
She wasn't entirely certain if Yu had been a part of pride at the time, but it had been the talk of the pride when her mother died mere days after father perished on a viking. Most considered Thokk's mother's death as an accident, as it was dangerous working with poison on the best of days. Thokk however, knew the truth. Her mother had taken her own life out of grief for her lost husband- such was the whimsy of 'true love'. Regardless, Yu need not know this part of the story, so Thokk kept it to herself, sealed tight along with bitterness and pain.
Back to the present though, they had reached the entrance to her den. "It is kind of you to assist me in this matter, it is of the utmost importance to me and I thank you. Now, step carefully, and do not be alarmed." She imagined with a priestess as a relative this lion would be use to ritual sights, but it was always good to warn them first. Without further hesitation she stepped into the small cave that was her home and where she worked, the floor scattered with neatly arranged piles of bone and what smelled like the blood of prey beasts. It had taken her quite awhile to set-up the whole arrangement, as the ritual called for many things, one of which had been a sacrifice. With a motion from her head, she pointed Yu to the center of the scene, "Stand there, I must prepare the ritual for completion." Most of which seemed to be rearranging bones and furs, with the occasional ripping or breaking of old, worn gauntlets, trinkets, and other such crafted items.

Jovi of Shadows Amen to that! And I am now on vacation... Let's see if I can reply to RPs faster xd Yu's eyebrows went up as high as they could physically go, as if they were attempting to hide in his mane. "That IS a fairly serious curse..." He frowned. "It would seem to me the best way to avoid this is to, forgive the term, borrow a male for his genes and be done with him, and not form a relationship past that." He wondered for a moment if this was what he was for. After reflecting on his family, Yu found he surprisingly didn't mind. 'Mates' wasn't a term he'd ever really run into for most of his family until his great-grandparents on his maternal grandfather's side, and then each of their parents. From the story that had been passed down to him by his mother as a cub, though, only his great-grandparents seemed to continue to have a happy life. He didn't like those odds, himself, and couldn't blame most of his known family for NOT having mates.
As he followed her, his eyebrows that had previously relaxed went right back up as he saw the cave. He certainly WAS used to rituals thanks to Susu, but... "This is far more organized than Susu ever makes it..." He stood in the indicated spot, before grinning wryly. "Odin help me if she ever heard me say that..." Indeed, his surprise was more in the organization. Susu simply tossed bones into piles, if she ever used them. Of course, she could be plenty creepy without the bones... Thokk, not so much.

Andranis w00t! We can end it here if you like? I'm fairly certain Yu knows where this is going. ~_^ The priestess could not help the pleased, and genuine smile that graced her maw. He was smarter than she was giving him credit for, it was refreshing in a sense. Most reavers she dealt with, heck most males she dealt with, where quite frankly bone-heads. "You catch on quick, I must admit." Indeed, that was the best remedy for a curse such as this, but gods help her if she didn't make a ritual out of it. After all, it could only help to have the attention of the gods, and hope in return that they granted her this favor. If nothing else, Thokk might enjoy a good tussle with the blonde lion, but that was an after thought to the meaning behind this ritual. Finally, finally she would be freed from her mother's fate!
She sort of snorted at his last comment, unable to think of how a ritual couldn't be organized. "Perhaps I shall pay Susu a visit, it has been a long while since I've combined my efforts with one of my priestess sisters. It might be fun." Finishing up the preparations, having previously swept dust onto Yu's paws, splashing some form of odorless mixture of liquid and soaked herbs into his circle, and shredding what must have been the remains of a small doe, previously removed of all meat so only bone and pelt were left- Thokk turned her attention onto the male. The male she had brought into her cave for one purpose and one purpose alone. She was slow yet purposeful in her movement, saying nothing, but then the keen, confident gleam in her eyes and the wry smirk she wore was all the cue he'd ever need.

"One of my best features." His size and strength were also good features, inherited from his father and grandfather, but he preferred to highlight his mental prowess. Yu was not a stupid lion, and he put on no acts of being so.
He watched her move, ears moving to train on her as much as his eyes. He'd have to see about joining more rituals, even if he was a Reaver...
