[Roleplay with Buffy_the_Bloody's Alehandra and KasaiLoki's Astrid.]

Where was she? She didn’t know.

Where was her mother? Her siblings? They had to be around here somewhere, didn’t they? The nameless cub looked around, her bright pink eyes showing confusion. It was dark. She hated the dark, or at least, she was beginning to. She was alone too.

Curling on the ground, the cub thought it best to just stay here. If she wandered away, mother wouldn’t know where to find her! The sound of a loud rumble above caused the pale gold lioness to flinch, making herself a little ball. Loud noises were loud! She felt small droplets of water hit her body, tightening around herself. Now she was going to be alone, wet and cold. Great….

The rain was bothersome to the Reaver. She had been hunting herself a meal, since she had been staying away from main pride life as of late. The new Warlord didn't really approve of female reavers and he was said to be trying to demote them all. So she stayed out of the way, clinging to the hope that she would get to keep her status.

So today it was food, and she had been tracking a herd of gazelle right to this very spot. But she saw nothing, and she was left wondering if her nose had fooled her. She frowned, watching as the dark clouds cast shadows over the lands. Normally she liked thunderstorms, but her belly was hungry, and she wasn't always pleasant when she was hungry.

That was when a strange scent hit her nose, and she furrowed her brows as she looked. It smelled different, but it smelled like a cub. No cub should have been out in these conditions.

"Hello? Who is out there?" She called out.

The voice….who did it belong to?

Unfurling herself from the fetal position, the cub looked around. She couldn’t see anything, or anyone for that matter. Maybe her mind was playing tricks on her?

The voice didn’t sound like her mother’s either. If she was to respond, what would happen?

Another loud bang of thunder crashed above her, causing the lioness to cry out. She jumped up quickly, running blindly forward, only to crash into the legs of something big. Frightened eyes looked up as lightning lit the world for a brief moment.

She backed up away from the adult, “S.ss…sorrrryy..” her teeth chattered.

Her aquamarine eyes scanned the savannah, and she frowned when she didn't see what the smell was. She couldn't go home until she figured it out, she would never be able to live with herself. Oh how she hoped that the little creature was okay. She had such a soft spot for cubs.

The thunder even made her jump, as she wasn't prepared for it. She soothed easily, but she heard a shriek seconds before she felt a force hit her leg. She instinctively curled a paw around the shivering, scared form. Though then the cub backed up, and Ali sighed softly.

"What are you doing all the way out here, honey? Come here. I'll keep you warm." She said, her heart aching for the little one.

“I…i…I do..n’t know..” the cub looked around, wanting to bolt, but finding herself to chilled to do so. The mixture of rain, cold and confusion was taking a toll on her.

“M..my mo..mom shsshould be a…around he..eree..” she found herself inching towards the lioness. She seemed nice enough, and she would keep her warm? The cub liked the sound of that!

There was no sight of the cub’s mother, nor any other around for that matter. She didn’t know her mother wouldn’t come back, she was just a youngster. She didn’t understand the concept of abandonment. Come to think of it, even if she asked what her mother looked like, or even her name, she was sure she couldn’t answer. Oh this was proving problemsome.

Before the cub spoke, Alehandra's eyes were scanning the lands once more. Perhaps the cub was lost, and had just been seperated from a family that would be very worried about her. Though at another glance, even with the dark clouds concealing the sun, this cub was skinny. She was oh so small, and shivering. Ali couldn't just leave her here in hopes that her family would find her. No, it seemed she had been lost for a little bit now, and leaving her here would almost certainly mean death. She wasn't sure how she had survived with all the dark hearted creatures around these lands.

Then she mentioned a mother and Ail perked up. "So you have a mother? Is she looking for you?" For a moment she was debating finding this missing mother. But she had a feeling it would yield no results. The tiny, scared, thin cub had been gone for some time from her mother. Ali understood abandonment. But she would never say such a thing to the little one.

"Shh shh.. It's okay. We just need to get you warm." She said, and sat down, curling her paw around the cub and bringing her closer. The rain was going to get stronger eventually, and the thunder overhead did little to calm the creature.

"Are you hungry? Let's go to my home, and I will make sure you have food and you are warm. Maybe then we can go looking for your momma." She said softly.

She had a mother, right? Of course she did? Didn’t she…? The cub was finding herself being second guessed. Maybe her thoughts were just muddled from the onslaught of the rainstorm. That had to be the reason. She nodded numbly, not really knowing if her mother was looking for her or not. She hope she would, why wouldn’t she be?

The pale child certainly did like the sound of being warm. Getting out of the wetness was such a pleasing idea, that she didn’t resist as the paw wrapped around her and brought closer to the larger body. Already she could feel the heat of the other radiating from her. The cub didn’t think twice as she found herself nuzzling into the leg of Ali, finding the warmth much more satisfying than the cold.

“..o..oka..y..” she chattered. She was hungry, and this lion was so warm! She was at the age where she no longer relied on her mother’s milk for life, and was capable of eating solid foods slowly. The cub was beginning to forget more about staying put.

The female smiled warmly, leaning her head down to nuzzle the small cub. She was so small, so thin, and Ali was surprised she had survived until now. She needed food, and she needed warmth. Two things Ali knew she could help her with.

When the cub accepted the help that Ali offered, before she raised her head from the nuzzle, she lifted the cub up by the scruff. More thunder, more lightning, and the female took off. The rain was growing heavier, and she knew she had to get home quickly. The den would be dry, and with the huge amount of pelts she had, she knew the cub would be safe there.

It didn't take long to get home, she was thankful she hadn't traveled too far from her den before. She leapt up a few of the rocks that lead to her den, and finally got home. Just before the rain started truly falling. Downpouring, more like.

She placed the cub gently on her bed of pelts, nuzzling her and pulling another of hte pelts over her small body.

When she was lifted up, the female found herself stiffening, letting the lioness do with her. She cringed at the lightning and thunder, finding more to add to the list of things she didn’t like. After a night like this, who wouldn’t like the storms?

The first thing she noticed when she reopened her eyes was the feeling of the rain no longer hitting her small form. That, and there was something incredibly soft under her feet. Then, when Ali brought a pelt over her shivering form, she smiled. It was so fluffy! A small purr erupted from her body, showing her content with the matter at hand. She curled herself around, making a little nest for herself in the pelt

Once she found herself comfortable, her small head popped out from under the blanket, a smile on her face. “So warm!” she giggled, still purring.

She smiled as the little cub curled herself into the pelts, effectively making herself a little nest. What a sweet little thing, left out all alone. She would scout the border every day, just to make sure that no mother came. If no mother came, well.. The little one would have someone. She would have her, and Ali would claim her as her own if a family did not come searching. She felt her hope grow in her heart, but she felt almost guilty. She shouldnt have been hopeful that she would raise her. She should have hope that her family would find her. But Ali had a feeling.. She had a feeling that no mother would ever come.

"I hope it's warm! Those are fine pelts." She said softly. She looked to the corner of the den, seeing a few bones that still had scraps of meat clinging to them. She frowned that this was all she had for the moment. But it would make do, at least until she could hunt after the storm. She picked a few of the bones up, and brought them to the pelts.

"It's not much, but it gives you something." She said, a soft smile on her face. "After the storm, I'll go hunting to get you something better. Okay?" She asked, leaning in to nuzzle the youngster.

She was small, she didn’t need much food right now. Whatever Ali had to offer, she was excited.

As the bones were dropped before her, the cub wasted no time tearing into them. She ripped the flesh off the bone greedily, licking her lips after she swallowed bits of her meal. Once she had picked the bone dry, she left it by her front paws, something she could gnaw on later.

Her bright eyes looked up at the adult. She was content now. She returned the nuzzles, finding herself at ease.

The lioness opened her mouth, emitting a large yawn. “Thank you~” she said tiredly, her cub voice slurring the words a bit. She curled back down on the pelts, her front paws brining the lone bone towards in an embrace. It wasn’t long before she was snoozing quietly, warm and belly full.
