Annette's giggle rang through the old forest, dense with trees. The sound was much more innocent that was to be expected from a batkin of her like. The barrel of toxic waste atop her shoulder was more than enough proof of that. She was having far too much fun with the "accidental" spills she left for others to find. The sun's fading light was more than enough for her to see by. The well-worn trail was often used and easy to navigate in the dark. The large lake that was her destination was said to have a mysterious beast within, something she was more than willing to have a bit of fun poisoning 'for the good of the people."

Annette snickered. She still couldn't believe the faes had believed her when she exclaimed she would rid them of the beast. They had been so overwhelmed with gratitude they had been almost ecstatic to give her plenty of supplies to last her 'until the job was done.' They would get a rude awakening when they dared to venture to the lake, finding no monster, but instead a lake full of toxic waste that was unsafe for all.

Bennett let out a steady stream of bubbles from his nostrils as he watched the sun begin to set from his spot just beneath the surface of the water.
His long wait for prey had been fruitless and he not waited to come to the surface to try and grab at passing faekats who would be making their way back to their homes from a day in the forest.

His lake was large, however.
There had once been many other Kelpies to inhabit his lake, but they had since....moved on.
Bennett wasn't one to share his territory and the other Kelpies had become a great nuisance rather than fellow kin.
This was quite alright, Bennett preferred the companionship of his screaming victims or the desperate female seeking some male attention.
Either way, he didn't need to give much socially for either.

The top of his head broke the surface of the water first as his entire head came out from the water to survey the surroundings.
Everything seemed....silent.

Hips swaying back and forth as she let loose another giggle, Annette could see the setting sun glinting off the water from the lake. Only a few sparse trees separated her from the large lake that the townsfolk had warned her about. Shifting the barrel to a more comfortable position, she stuck to the shadows as she surveyed the best place to set her surprise. With her eyes so focused on the shore, it was no wonder she missed the kelpie peering from the water.

"Hm, the best place to set this would be where the water flowed into the lake. That would ensure it would circulate and ensure the lake unusable for quite some time.." musing aloud to herself as she searched, she found it almost eerie that her voice carried quite well across the surface. It was comforting that she had made sure that all the townsfolk were safely tucked away in their homes. None of them would be forewarned about her betrayal.
