The wind tore around the ragged cliffs at the edge of the Viking’s territory, carrying sea spray, as overhead grey clouds groaned ominously. Dodonna picked his way along the slick rocks, his coarse paws used to this terrain after some time living in the pride, his fur used to the itch of being caked with salt. It was a rough life, being a Reaver, but it was everything he’d hoped it to be. Every day was a challenge to test his strength, he was in the company of other proud, strong lions, and occasionally he’d roam out with groups of Reavers to fight the foreign lions.
There was only one black mark on his happy life; he had yet to breed. His mate’s only litter had been from another male, which irked him much more than he let on in public. All his power was useless if he didn’t use it to bring up powerful cubs. Everything in him insisted on that. On days when it really got to him he came out here to the edge of the pride to pace, and wonder if maybe he’d be better off elsewhere after all. Today was such a day, so he paced, full of grumblings and pent up temper.

Erimentha had spent a long time away from the Vikings borders due to the injuries she had sustained from many attempts to fight her way into the pride as well as injuries from coming to the pride boarders without letting herself heal properly. However, this attempt was going to be different from the others. Eri had made sure she was well fed, rested and most of all healed. The young lioness had made sure she was prime for a fight because she didn't want to have to go back out into the savannah, instead she wanted to walk through the jagged rocks and call this place her home. Sure it was easier said than done but she didn't care. Eri knew this was where she belonged and would gladly fight to the death to make it so.
With sure footsteps she once more approached the border, inhaling and then letting out a challenging roar. Since her first fight Erimentha had encountered many male lions who had all been willing to fight with her and while she left bruised and battered her eyes were always gleaming with joy. The males here were strong and she guessed that the females that also lived here had to be just as strong. Erimentha had went through a faze where she had seduced or tried to seduce the male lions in the rogue lands but in all honesty it had been out of boredom and none of them had ended with consequences. Part of her had wished they had but then again, if she was fighting like this maybe it was better to not have cubs right now. Besides, Eri wanted any children she did have one day to be strong and well-cared for. She wasn't going to get that out there. No, it had to be here. "No going back now."

Scuffing his feet along, Dodonna growled at a nearby pebble as if it had insulted him, and randomly knocked it into the sea. It did little to cheer him. But he was distracted from his sour mood by the sound of the roar echoing off the rocks. A challenger? Blinking in surprise, he grinned toothily and leapt down the cliffside towards the call, always eager for a bit of action. Violence always picked his spirits up, and he'd never actually provided a challenge before. It would be an interesting experience, even if the lion turned out to be pitiful competition.
He bounded into view of the yellow lioness and screeched to a halt, claws digging into the sand and rock as he roared in response, bringing himself up to his full height. He paused to examine this stranger, and felt a bit disappointed. A female, then. Maybe she wouldn't be a challenge afterall. But he shook himself as his mind warned caution. His mate was female, and could trounce him four times of five. And this one looked pretty healthy and well built. "You've come to challenge for entry into the Viking pride, then, woman?" he called, snarling. "Come take it if you can!"

Erimentha had been a little surprised at how quickly her roar had been answered but then again, she wasn't because she'd come to find that the Vikings didn't wait. They either did or didn't. For a moment Eri let herself take in her challenger, so that she may know his face should she fail or win. If she won she'd find someway to show her gratitude. A grin crept onto her maw quickly at the males remark. "Gladly" was all she replied in return before she began her assault on the male. With quick and sure footsteps, Eri ran at the male, turned just as she reached him and tried to lash out at his side. It wasn't the greatest attack ever but right now she was testing his strengths and weaknesses, which she was sure he'd probably do in return. Fights always filled her with joy, which may have been a bad thing but this lioness gave no indication of caring.

Well the female certainly wasn’t hesitant, she had that going for her, Dodonna thought as she charged. He bared his teeth wide at her, putting on his fiercest war face. That enough, combined with his garb and mask, had been enough to scare some timid foreigners into surrender, as he went a-Viking. He knew he could make an imposing figure when he wanted to, and he felt like being scary today.
The golden lioness didn’t even pause, which was to her credit. As she swiped at him, he braced his hind paws against the rocks, having no intention of dodging. He reared, lifting his arm to take the blow on his shoulder without flinching. He roared in her face and lunged forward in an attempt to tackle her backwards.

Eri had to admit, this male didn't get the title of Reaver for nothing. He was strong and looked rather terrifying in his mask, however, she wasn't really afraid. Erimentha was a strong lioness, which she kind of had to be to return to the pride for a third attempt at a challenge. I will not lose was the one thought that kept replying in her head as her body followed through with the action. Erimentha knew right away what was going to happen after her claws dug into his shoulder. When he lunged forward she tried her best to get her body to fall back at the same time. Luckily she managed to stay on her feet but she staggered.
Great, he had more physical strength than her. Erimentha wasn't a weak lioness either. Her brain was probably her biggest asset though. Quickly Eri thought of her next move as she did it. She crouched down onto her paws and leapt out, it was only at the last minute that she turned and tried to hit him with her side rear. Regardless of if it did damage to him it would leave her open for an attack she couldn't dodge. It was worth it though in her eyes. If she could knock him down then she'd be able to get a good blow in. Although, this move seemed to work more in his favor as he could injure not only with his claws or teeth but by once again shoving her.
