I wrote 112 parking tickets today. Plus 3 warnings and let 2 people off. Do I feel bad about it? Not really. I hate people. Especially tourists! And most of the tickets I write are only $15. Unless they park like assholes, then it's $35.
And DAMN people can't read! Seems like 1/4 of the people enter their license plate in wrong. Had one lady come up to me yelling "What is this ticket for??" And I say "Did you read it?" She gives me a confused look, so I take the ticket and read it to her. "You parked in a yellow zone, on a yellow curb." She replies "But I PAID for parking!" I'm like "Uh... yes, you did, but you were parked on a yellow curb." She says "I'm going to go get my husband and you can talk to him about it, because I don't understand!"
In some ways, I feel like my job is to punish the idiots... which makes it a pretty awesome job.

What I keep wondering... is my job punk?
Most punks don't drive... and those that do are resourceful enough to find free parking.
Therefore, I mostly punish the normies and conservatives.
Only ones I really feel bad about is old people. They can't use computerized parking meters. They can barely see or function! And I love old people. Even the cranky ones.

Damn those are cheap tickets ._. Basic parking violations here are over $45 + fees.
They don't teach people about yellow curbs or ... "zone hachuree" (like, white Xes you're not supposed to stop on because the stop line is a few yards from the intersection)...
It's pretty sad, actually. I've been a passenger and taken public transit all my life, yet I know what these things mean.
In the last two years or so, they've made taking theory classes mandatory for getting your driver's license. I guess it's good, but I find it pretty wasteful. I took all the practice tests online, went in to the exam (multiple choice on ancient computers), and was only uncertain about like 2 answers. Mostly because the question was poorly translated.
I plan to take my practical lessons in the next few months and finally get a license. Just so I can be a spare driver on road trips.
But my brother just got a car with standard transmission. I don't want to destroy his clutch =/

OH GOD I AM JUST GLAD YOU 2 ARE HERE RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!! I betcha you don't even know what happened in this guild from 2007-2010 it was horrible. O.O YOu don't wanna know.
ALL I KNOW IS THAT YOU MISSED AN AWESOME YEAR OF 2011, CUZ THAT WAS THE REVIVAL YEAR OF THIS GUILD AND WHEN I STARTED TO LISTEN TO CHEESY MODERN MUSIC SONGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! It's because of these modern songs that got me off of my obsession which I refuse to let my fellow ROPERS tell you about unless you look into the old posts yourselves. biggrin
