Ardor had not gotten to the spot in the sand soon enough to help dig out the astonishing female. He had mentally cursed his slowness, as he could have made much out of being a hero, perhaps gained a bit of favor from the... well, she wasn't exactly beautiful just now, being all scraped up and dirty, but that didn't matter. He still could have potentially become her favorite rescuer. If he'd only been there.
With a gusty sigh, he settled himself down and listened as it was announced that they'd be staying there for a good long rest before traveling further out into the desert. He couldn't say he savored the idea of more hot sand and searing sun at this point. It was turning out to be much too exhausting just to travel, leaving him no time to woo the ladies as he'd hoped to. Well, some had to stand guard, and he might as well be one of them, for the first shift anyway. He padded over to examine the filled-in gap where the lioness had escaped from. Goodness, it was a tiny space!
Meanwhile, Flacari had remained sprawled on the cooler sand, staring off into the distance until the commotion had roused him. He blinked blearily in the direction of all the ruckus, baffled by the flying sand. Soon, however, a new face was among them. Still muzzy from exhaustion and his previous battle with fear, he stared owlishly at the dark-pelted lioness, covered in wounds and scrapes that told a confusing story that made no sense to his weary brain. He said nothing to anyone about his confusion, though, figuring he'd learn the story eventually. A few murmured comments and the excited questions of the cub traveling with them gave him a little more insight, but his tired brain was unable to really process it just now.
Thus, when he heard that they were camping, he laid his head back down and was soundly asleep before the request for shifts of guards had finished. He'd wake later and discover his spot in the roster, but for now, he had no energy, strength, or mind for looking after their little group. With him on the job, they'd have had Nergui surrounding them before he could tune in enough to raise the alarm. He was no good to anyone in this condition, so hopefully some deep sleep would refresh him and make him of more use to the group.

Sua knew the medics had to get to work, making sure nobody has been hurt on the way and will sleep nicely. Stretching a bit as she got up, Keeping count of her herbs and was lucky to have some water containers, but she forgot to fill them, making her feel stupid. Hearing they'll have to prepare for the rest of the travel. Since she had everything, she was good to us it and help everyone around if it called for it. With a yawn, she decided to sleep a bit while she had the chance, a bit tired and needing her strength for the night work.
Haru sighed, not knowing about the arch at all, so she couldn't say anything. Getting up once their leader spoke of shifts, she stepped away from the coolness as i sign she was going to be part of the first shift. With a stretch, she looked at the endless desert and smiled, good to be accepted and began to brush the sand off her fur. She wanted to shed off the sand like it was the past, for she was gonna begin a new life with the pride and smiled.

When the decision was made to rest, Morag took the chance eagerly and padded into a deep part of the shade to dig herself another hole and plop herself down into it. While she appeared to have fallen asleep, a red twinkle hinted that she was actually studying the newcomer with calculating interest.
Her story was certainly a plausible one, but without someone to verify it, there was really no way to know. A conversation with her later was in order, but for now the Spymaster was content to rest up for the next leg of the journey.

Following Morag's suit, Arevik went into the shade, dug a spot in the sand, and collapsed into it. Unlike the dark lioness, though, the green-eyed white lioness DID fall asleep. The shade was cool and wonderful, creating the perfect environment for her to sleep.
Luut sat down in a spot in the shade, but he didn't lay down to sleep. Instead, he kept his pale eyes watching the direction they'd come from, as if expecting attack. He looked around, making it clear he was amid those who would be on first watch.
As vigilant as the lion he companioned around with, Moe took a seat next to Luut, his own red eyes watching, large ears moving as he waited. "We're in the first watch, oh mighty whitey!" He yelped as a large red paw pressed onto his paw and, ready to glare at Luut, he instead shrank down and grinned sheepishly at the red lion's own glare. "I mean... Veru."

Nkera moved in the shaded sand like many others but he didn’t dig himself a hole to cool down. Instead, he chose a spot that would allow him to scout the area before them as well as keeping a discreet eye on the newcomer. He remained in a sitting position and apart from the pair of bright green eyes that slowly scanned the horizon, the guard remained still as a boulder in his self-appointed task.
A soft breeze ruffled his mane and brought a much-needed relief to some of the areas where the sun rays had weaved through the dense coat and burned the skin. Nkera decided that he needed to consider getting a cape or some other form of protection.

Baise was happy about Veru’s choice. She wasn’t particularly tired yet but her muscles would welcome the break and she did worry about the cub that they’d brought along. Also, she imagined that Haru would probably want to enjoy a bit of fresh air and her newfound freedom before throwing herself at the scorching desert for a few days.
She dug a small depression in the shade and yawned loudly before turning into one massive white ball that stuck out oddly in the sand. Her face disappeared in a very clear visual message: don’t bother me, now.

Eld wasn't very sleepy so he settled near the edge of the shade, joining the others taking responsibility for the first watch. He liked watching the desert. The sun-baked dunes went on for as long as he could see. He was born in the desert, and while it could be cruel at times, he felt safe here. An enemy couldn't sneak up on them without being seen, and without the harsh desert they wouldn't be as strong as they were.
He wondered how the joining rogues felt about their current desert home. Those that came from places with less sand usually walked like cubs for the first week, but they got used to it soon enough. He hoped they ended up feeling as at home in the desert as he did.

Veru's eyebrow arched precariously as the small creature offered to take first watch. The odd title notwithstanding, he smiled thinly and accepted the offered. Someone would have to work it out, and it seemed he was attatched to Luut. A strange fellow if there ever was one, but Veru had great trust in Vlam and his brood by extension.
"Alright, everyone get some rest then," he said- although to be honest, it was mostly for his own benefit. Everyone else was busy bunkering down already, trying to savor the last inches of shade as the sun spiraled overhead. Traveling at night wouldn't be any easier, but with the sun so oppressive, he had to hope it would at least be a bit tamer. Cooler, too.
But as he drifted to sleep, he found himself unable to fully rest. There was a dream passing through his mind, that kept nagging him in the way that he would have preferred it not to. There were some in the pride who welcomed dreams, who toyed with visions and magics that the bulk of the firekin were so opposed.
To Veru, such dreams were like a flea in an uncomfortable place. Unseen, but felt, and sure to cause problems further down the line.

Thank you everyone for attending! Next week I'll start up the second part.
In the meantime, we'll roll for prizes! This cub was very generously donated to the event by Split Personality, so be sure to contact her to give her the cub's name and information.
As usual, I will roll page then number. If the roll falls upon me, or someone else who has won something recently, it will go to the next person down. If that post should be at the bottom of the page, it cycles back to the top of the page.
Rolling page first!

Ah, thank you! Do you have her colorist/family information? Or at least for the family, who I should get in touch with?
