Ban'ma didn't know how long it had been since Mel and Tahj had left before she started crying out. At first they had been loud and desperate, but as time passed her strength began to wane. I can't be alone...she's getting help, someone's coming... What if they didn't come back in time? What if she was really...?

The petite lioness shook, choking down an panicked sob. Above her the sun shone without relief, baking the flesh and blood of that beast to the ground. She was just thankful she couldn't see it.

Breathing hurt just as much, if not more than her wounds, and when she coughed sometimes it carried a wet sound with it. That wasn't good, that much she knew. Hurry, please, please, oh Gods, hurry...

Azhar was running as if his life depending on it. To be more precise, he’d been led to believe that someone’s life did depend on it if beybanu Mel’Tamu hadn’t been exaggerating when he’d spoke to her just a few moments ago – he didn’t think she had. The brown female was known for being a very polite and composed lioness and Azhar could instantly tell that something was horribly wrong when he saw Mel’Tamu in a panicked state, carrying one of her sons as she ran for help. Even now, he could still smell the blood of another lioness that was soaking the brown lioness’ coat and catch traces of it in the air.

The morbid irony of the situation didn’t escape him. That another one of Pad Achal’s banu might be in danger of losing her life, when beybanu’s Tsubame’s death had already left its mark on the pride and in Azhar in particular was something that the dark Pad never thought could happen. He’d been little more than a cub when he’d met Tsubame but he had been so captivated by the lively blue female that he’d been deeply influenced in the type of females he’d looked for during his banu quest.
At last, the scent of blood grew closer and he saw the shape of the fallen banu on the ground ahead of him.

“Beybanu Banma.” He said politely but with an obvious sense of urgency, panting heavily.
