It all seemed so vast. So grand! The world, that is, beyond her humid jungles and her desert dunes. There were lands that varied in size, shape, color, and even occupancy, this much she was certain of! And the thought of it all convinced her that a voyage into this unknown was necessary.
Yet, she soon came to realize that not all journeys were bound for greatness In fact, her's had been destined for failure and for all of the obvious reasons. Gods. As prevalent as they were in her home, amongst strangers it appeared to be less so. Those that didn't know about them, feared her, and that made up a giant chunk of the foreign populace. No one understood her purpose, her being, and ultimately no one wished to share in her company because of it. Wherever she found herself to be, life also seemed to be devoid, and for what had started out as a brilliant adventure would sooner end with Abayomi bored with her own endeavors. Tired of the lonely nights. Desperate to return home.
A year had passed since the Goddess found herself back in the crossroads, and oh how thrilled she was to scent familiarity in the air. She welcomed the sight of activity with great enthusiasm while her wandering eyes searched for a place to settle for a while. When a herd of zebra were the first to draw her attention, she took nothing but her own needs into consideration and landed atop a mound which overlooked their grazing. Some were pulled away from their meals stiffened by fear, while others darted in surprise. To those that lingered still, the lioness chirped a hardy "Hello!" before scattering the lot with her own loping presence.
Tired of flight, from there Abayomi ran through the savannah in search for more fun to be had. She was quick and agile, but her wings bounced awkwardly in her anxious sprint, and soon after she thought to avoid the skies the Goddess chose to lose her wings entirely-- for only a short while. It was a rare time when the lioness would truly appear to be just that. Mortal. And for once it seemed to fit her needs accordingly.
