Having remained silent as GRAY had berated her idea for why she had to do this, the little girl had begun to already attempt to wander out of the room when the AI finally responded. "You.....you said my name?" Leslie meekly piped up with, turning to see the chamber opening itself for her to enter. Quietly walking into the chamber and watching as Lacuna entered the other chamber and two stared each other down. Church would float up to the camera and give a small beep of recognition before Leslie spoke again. "Lets see what happens."

The chamber would immediately shut once Leslie stepped inside, a locking sound heard to confirm that there was no turning back now. Whether or not Mawile was prepared for this GRAY would summon a metallic arm from above and grab a hold of the tiny big-mouthed Pokemon, throwing it into the empty chamber next to the one Leslie occupied, its own door closing quickly afterwards.
"Commencing hybridization process." GRAY's voice echoed inside the chambers. A bright flash of light would consume the inside of the chambers, making it impossible to see. That would be the least of Leslie's concerns however. The young girl may not be prepared mentally for what happened next, a deep searing pain would overcome her as the machine began to work its magic, her entire body being reshaped and formed. Her skin would become thick and solid, like steel, however strangely flexible like it always had been. Her overall height might not be affected too much, at least she won't notice a difference until she gets older, and then she'll notice that she doesn't grow much. The worse pain would come from her skull as something felt like it was growing out of it, thrashing around as if it intended to ripe its self right out of its host.
While the process only took a few minutes it may seem like an unending hell for the child, which is one reason why GRAY was worried about putting her through this. The Mawile though might feel some discomfort from the light and such but at the end of the whole thing it would be fine. Leslie, however, would find it very difficult to stand up, not just because of the new found weight of her skin but also every ounce of energy in her body felt like it was drained away. She would be hurting for awhile and would require plenty of rest.
Once the doors opened up GRAY immediately sent his 'arm' down to pock at Leslie, testing her reaction to the prod. "Hybridization process complete...are you alive?"

A loud, ear-piercing cream would echo out from the chamber as the little girl began to feel the effects of her DNA being forcibly recombined with her Mawile's own energy to create the hybridization effect. Letting the sound ring out until her voice became hoarse, Leslie took a ragged breath before releasing a pained grunt that quickly dived off into yet another emotion. Tears began to stream down the girl's face as she spoke up with actual words, the hair and the crown of her head distorting and turning black as the words rang out. "Make them stop," The pained whisper came out, the little girl sobbing between the sentences. "Make the voices stop. Please leave me alone. I didn't do that!" The screams seemed to be directed at something, but the sealed container was empty besides herself.
Preparing herself to release another scream of pain, her noises were muffled as her skin began to shift into a more metallic state, retaining the same coloring for much of her body as a normal human. Reduced to simply shuddering on the floor as the strange skin affliction settled itself, Leslie began to feel the strange growth on her head move around slightly, almost testing for something. Preparing herself for the process to again rip through her system without abandon, she was surprised as it simply died away into only somewhat agonizing pain as final adjustments were attended to on her physical structure.
Struggling to even move as the increased body mass held her to the floor, she was only able to groan in response as GRAY prodded her. What was more interesting was the newly formed black mouth thing moving itself to clamp down on the arm in response to the pain the prods had caused Leslie. "Interesting." She mumbled, eyes fluttering shut before she could attempt any other movements. The mouth would struggle against the lack of synapses inadvertently powering for a moment, attempting to maintain its grip before it finally slipped off the arm. Emerging from her own container, Lacuna grabbed her trainer by the horn/mouth and began to drag her away, leaving Church to chirp happily at GRAY before he too floated off after his trainer.

So, here she was once again. Staring at the strange machine she had bullheadedly decided so long ago would be her obvious way to keep up with the rest of Team Snagem. While she had no idea if she had made the right call that day, she couldn't deny she had reveled in what it had made her. Becoming a juggernaut that rendered even the adults of Snagem unable to contend with her physically had been a trip and while it certainly had made her a little arrogant, there was enough things that were still scary to bring her back down to reality and humble her somewhat. She had gone out on top with her hybridization with the throwdown with that Buzzwole, an unstoppable bug that had literally sustained itself through battle. A bug she had only been able to stop thanks to the other residents of Mt Silver that weren't quite as active in the outside world as the other.
Mega Evolution had been something she had been absolutely unprepared for. The intense rush of power had been overwhelming. After the pain of becoming a hybrid, that moment would rank as a second on that scale. Her body growing and altering itself to that degree should've been a deterrent to the train of thought that had led her to this room once again. But despite how overwhelming it was, Leslie had finally felt like she was fully in control of her Mawile form for those moments against Buzzwole. Able to actually deal with a physical threat through her own power rather than simply her mass and solidity. Managing to move herself so fluidly and quickly compared to her usual form. Finally getting to see the mythical world of being over 5 feet tall.
....man, she missed the height the most. It was a simple thing but that small taste of being even average height was a hell of a thing.
And she would've immediately gone back to her original hybrid form the second she was able to if it weren't for Doc and GRAY collaborating to make sure she didn't before all their testing was finished. But there was no way they would be able to say no to this idea. Opening up a Pokeball and watching as a somewhat confused Mori popped out, Leslie would stare up to one of the cameras in the room. "Well, GRAY? I know you got everything from Paldea in you now. So will this plan work? Is Mori right for this or is back to square one while we have the time?" The girl questioned, taking a deep breath as she waited to be shot down yet again and return to screaming obscenities about this towards...anyone nearby really.

"In theory we have everything we need now." GRAY immediately answered Lesie, though his choice of words weren't exactly comforting. "Mega Evolving put an extreme stress on your body, more so than it would to any other hybrid or Pokemon. As we discussed prior Doc Owl and I confirmed that your earlier hybridization through the chamber was technically temporary, however it should have lasted long enough to keep your as a hybrid for your entire natural lifespan. If you wish to blame someone for this technical flaw then blame Ein, the design of the chamber was originally his. Stolen intellectual property and what have you." GRAY explained. He and Doc Owl already explained this to Leslie however he felt like it was important enough to reiterate, perhaps to stress why he didn't have a more comforting answer to the girl. "We are lucky there is another species available of the exact same type combination as your previous hybridization species. The chamber had altered your DNA, of course, to hybridized you but even after you 'burned up' your hybridization by Mega Evolving your genetic makeup was still permanently altered, the type combination imprinted. What I mean to say is it the only way to hybridize you again is by using a different species of the same type combination as using Mawile DNA again will only be a temporary fix, your body surely rejecting it again and any other species of different types would simply fail. As you know you can't afford temporary fixes, the stress of Mega Evolution on your body accrued a debt that must be paid, very soon if we don't stabilize you by successfully hybridizing you again." The AI declared, dancing around what would happen to Leslie should they do nothing but it was still clear what he meant. She would die soon. "Forgive us all for putting you in your current situation. The adults around have failed you, Leslie." The failed Poygon3 apologized to Leslie, uncharacteristic sincerity in his voice. "Now, if you are ready..." With a hiss the chamber doors would part open. "...enter one chamber and your Pokemon the other. You know how this works. And if you need to say a little prayer."

Leslie would only to be able to sigh with the quick review GRAY was giving about her circumstances. It had been a hard month after her encounter with the Buzzwole. It had taken a few weeks for all of the tests from both Doc Owl and GRAY to give them an accurate assessment of what had actually happened when Leslie turned back after her Mega Evolution. And the second they figured it out, she had been bombarded by demands from both the usually unemotional AI and her doctor to go with the safe and available option of hunting down a Klefki and just getting the problem sorted right away. But she had demanded that whatever they were going to do could wait until after they at least saw how things were in Paldea. After all, an entire region they were lacking data on might give them more options for this situation.
It had taken a moment alone with GRAY for her to be honest about her want to wait until after Paldea. That as much as she would do it if necessary, she was scared that doing this without making sure it was the only thing she could do might make her resentful towards....a lot of people. GRAY and Doc Owl for simply doing the best with what they had, the friendly faces of Snagem's Mall for having unintentionally started this process, and herself for now being stuck with a body that she chose out of convenience rather than one she had wanted. So, the second they made landfall, GRAY got to work immediately updating what he could for data to try and help with tracking things down and she did the one thing she had been doing the entire time since her diagnosis had come in: gamble on some small hope that the universe would give her a small win after all the losses she had taken of late.
And then she had somehow managed to hatch this small pink beauty, metal diamond poking out of her chest and who spent her first minutes of being in reality trying to assemble a metal rattle out of the pieces of metal she was able to locate in that hotel room. And while GRAY's confirmation was a sweet reprieve, Leslie had already known that she had found a winner.
Ushering Mori into one of the chambers, Leslie would look towards the camera again. She needed to address her friend. "You didn't let me down. You did everything you could for me. And I will always appreciate it, GRAY. Even if I don't like saying it much." Turning towards the other chamber, Leslie would gulp down her fears before stepping into the chamber and muttering, "Let's see if my luck holds out."
