[HH] A war is never won in a day. (Asteria & Kostya)

Was it a good day, or a bad day, when she was bored enough to be giddy about doing her day of work again? She could have returned to the reserve, to get a drink, enjoy a simple spar. Even just go chat with her fellow clansmen. But there was something wonderful, something that left her elated at the sight of a chance to come back to this realm.

To return to find what there was to offer her. Would she find a student lost and alone? Or her nemesis? Those delightfully foolish humans all dolled up as they roamed about. What would she find herself doing today as she strolled into the shadows and darkness known as the Haunted House. For certainly, she'd yet to pass up a chance when offered it. The thrill of mystery and chance was just too much for even a warrior who liked to think before she leapt. It was in her blood, her heart, and her very being to hunt and strike back.

Which was why Asteria was here again.

She casually walked along, listening for any sound, any chanced movement that might lead her to her goal. Whatever it turned out to be today. Sadly, all she had was silence for the time being. Which wasn't exactly proving to do much of anything. She'd have been better off meditating on a stump if all she was going to get as company was the sound of her own thoughts.

The portals were open once more, and that meant Haunted House patrolling as a duty. He was unaware of its dangers, truth be told, as he was unaware of most things when it came to Halloween.

He found it not quite terrifying, but definitely unnerving, with the way that rooms shifted and held no sort of consistent shape, theme, or appearance.

Konstantin wandered through the halls of the Haunted House, his weapon summoned, and on his guard.

It was a pity that his situational awareness was not as good as he hoped.

Thankfully, it might have been a blessing she'd left that stump behind. Or perhaps a curse. A twist of fate found her rounding a corner to spot the trailing ends of a white jacket. Perhaps one day those hunters would realize making themselves painfully obvious might have been a bad thing. Then again, it was a boon in a way. They could spot each other easily, right? Regardless, Asteria had her newest form of entertainment. A fool who'd tread in their domain.

Or perhaps today she would be the fool. Who was to say. She'd heard they could be dangerous, maybe this one would teach her something of it, but for now the war mare held little fear of her prey, and likely she would never truly be frightened of them. Cautious, perhaps, but running wasn't in her kind's nature. Typically.

So onward it was, slowly creeping up after the figure of the man, a smile playing on her lips. No need to give him warning, he might run away if she did... no there were better ways to greet a human. A hunter as they liked to call themselves.

So with that in mind, as she drew close enough, regardless if the fellow caught on, the horsewoman darted forward suddenly at him. A quick punch was launched at the man before she shifted to ensure her footing. Best not to risk being knocked straight into one of the already decaying walls right off the bat.

"Out for a stroll?" Kind sounding words if not for the fact she'd just struck at the boy and the evident mocking tone in her voice. There was no kindness to be given to a human in their realms, far less even for one that dared to affiliate with those who had destroyed her home.

Kostya heard her before her hit collided with his back, before he had time to react. He stumbled forward, catching himself on a wall with his empty hand.

It appeared that he had been found. Unlike some of his encounters with creatures from the beyond, this one was not so kind. He turned on his heel, taking in the female that had attacked him, and pointed his weapon at her, firing off a round.

"Correct."

If she wanted a fight, then he would provide.

Asteria grimaced as she felt the round hit her shoulder, rubbing at it lightly as she summoned her own weapon, a dagger, to even the tides a bit. Though really this was a rather stoic hunter, not like the others who had at least responded to a degree. It merely made things more curious and fun though. "So that's to be your last set of words, human?"

So with that bit of resolve in place she quickly lashed out at the hunter with her dagger. He had an odd arm... cannon of some sort of a weapon, which seemed ranged, but... maybe not? She wasn't entirely sure if keeping some space to avoid was better or not, so for the time being decided close quarters for easy attacks would simplify things. Still, they really did choose weaponry at times, didn't they?

He had never seen a creature of Halloween with a weapon of their own, and he peered at it curiously-- a poor decision that left him vulnerable to attack. He grunted as the blade slashed at his shield, and stumbled backwards, attempting to put additional distance between them.

"You are being, ah," the Moon trainee started, "arrogant." He charged his weapon, an electronic hum that buzzed in his ears. Syntax screeched a series of commands, demanding that he commit a pull request and other bits of techno-jargon that he attempted to ignore.

As the woman danced away, he fired a blast of energy at her, crackling blue.

"Have faced things vorse than you," Kostya hissed, eyes narrowed behind his glasses, ready for his next move.
