AMITYVILLE ACADEMY ENROLLMENT FORM

Name: Hiroshi... or so he recalls?
Nicknames: Hiro
Gender: Male
Age: 16

Faction: Ghost
Race: Wanderer

Natural Ability: Possesion :: Though it may not always seem like the best idea when he does, Hiroshi has the ability to posses objects of either organic or inorganic origin, granted for very brief periods of time. But hey, everyone needs a hobby!

Personality:

Brief Background Before Death :: Hiroshi had actually been a citizen of Hiroshima, Japan prior to the bombing that had occurred there, unknowing standing around on the street as everyone had gone about their day as casually as always. He had been with a friend there as well, conversing peacefully until a soft whistle was heard shooting overhead.

And who could have ever thought that something so light sounding could have ended with such a bang?

He had died that day, corpse laying among the thousands that were piling on the flaming streets. His death wasn't immediate however, and he could still hear the screams before he fully passed on. Those screams have stayed with him into the after life, though he has completely forgotten their meaning of significance.

But the one thing that has stuck with him is what he believes to have been his name, actually the unfinished title of the city he lived in.

Hiroshi.

Ever since the incident, he has also had a subconscious paralyzing fear of the Undead, mainly because of how the people attempting to flee that day looked like the true walking dead.

Afraid :: As ironic as it definitely might seem, Hiroshi can actually be 100% terrified of things and people alike. But what causes him to become the most terrified are the Undead and fires. Something about them strikes this intense, sheer sort of fear that all the while seems so..familiar... yet he doesn't know why. And that can actually tend to drive him a bit over the edge.

Edgy :: As if you didn't see this coming. Hiro definitely isn't one of the first ghouls you might want to approach. He is prone to multiple mood swings and constant internal arguments with himself. There are really no ways to control these terrible things, choruses constantly attempting to pressure him into doing the unthinkable...though the snappy personality he can display in an attempt to warn others isn't the best way he can go about things and can actually get him into rather unfortunate situations quite often.

Distant :: As a result of this aforementioned behavior of his, the ghost tends to separate himself from society quite often. He doesn't wish to truly hurt anyone, and would rather not force the burden of the 'voices' onto anyone else. But, when he is within a close enough proximity to prevent him from snapping at you, he also seems to have that certain...vague look in that one pale eye of his. Almost as if he's debating something but doesn't know what it is.

Clumsy :: His current one-eye status has left quite the mark on his perception of depth, unable to really tell how close something is to himself. This tends to leave him flat on his face from occasion, and it might take some serious time to get used to.

Light-Hearted :: Though this can be considered quite the pun as he no longer has one himself, Hiro can also be quite the kind person if anyone is ever able to develop such a bond with him. Though, the specifics to get close to him is unknown as he is pretty reluctant to be near others.

Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy? His adoptive parents have decided that it is high-time Hiro was put into the real world to finally face his problems...or at least... Halloween Town. That's about as real as it's going to get.

FEAR Ability: [The Barrier] :: Binding Wraps :: (Y1) :: Capable of manipulating the wrappings around his hands in order to lengthen them, Hiroshi can actually create a shield out of them in order to block incoming attacks.

Physical Description: A soft, green nuclear glow seems to constantly be pulsating from his...'form'. He is relatively average sized in both weight and height, though there tends to be a slight slouch to his posture, though it leans more towards his right. Burn scars are evident all over his form, as his body is approximately 80% covered with them. The most burns are on his upper body, his face being the least covered and the most damaged. It also seems as if his clothes are constantly dripping, the polyester suit still burning and dripping even after the fact. (Clothing that is more polyester-based tends to melt instead of burn like normal fabric, though there are patched of his outfit missing.)

Eye Colour: Soft, blueish-white colored, almost like his only eye has been blind for quite some time though it hasn't. His iris would also be a soft gray.

Hair Colour/Style: His hair is black, very...'fluffy' in a sense. It is very curly as well.

Skin Colour: Pale, but greenish due to the glow. He is also translucent, due to being a ghost.

Clothing Style/Colours: A rather formal appearance, wearing a black shirt with a white collar shirt along with a green tie, the outfit he had before he died. Though, major changes have happened since then, the entire thing tending to drip almost endlessly as he goes about, though never shrinking in size. There are multiple tatters and holes in his outfit as well, even his black-leather loafers suffering their fair-share of holes.

Extra: He has bandage wrappings around his head that are meant to conceal his missing eye, along with a similar set-up covering his hands in order to prevent him from having to stare at the terribly malformed things on a daily basis. Though, he has a terrible tendency to chew on them, often times revealing the skeletal remains that he tries to hide.

I'm wondering if he might have a particular sense that a bad episode is being triggered? Like the way some people can get fuzzy vision before a migrane or shortness of breath being a sign of a heart attack? Maybe he hears the voices get louder or quieter before a bad event sets off his particular craziness...
I think limiting the episodes in this way will be role playing easier since your character might be difficult for another char to want to approach if he doesn't have more normal, interactive phases. This will also help with plots and you can plan to have him freak out in more specific situations.

I don't think the phobia is a bad idea, but it does stack difficulty of RP on this character. Can you possibly downgrade it from sheer terror at the sight of any undead, to avoidance or being wary of other undead? It's just that there are SO MANY kinds of ghosts and undead that maybe you could get more specific by having him just be a afraid of fires that are bigger than a lighter/campfire, or maybe getting triggered by a pack of zombies/mummies that look burnt rather than all undead? I think him wanting to avoid a particular person (a fire elementalperhaps?) but needing to talk to them for some reason would make an EXCELLENT development for him to either face his fear or avoid the heck out of that character.

Also, I'm a little bothered by him glowing. It's a very serious kind of death and the glowing kind of makes him too cartoonish to me (??) I'm not sure if that makes sense. However, in a different context, with a less disturbed character, I can certainly see a more cartoony look. (ie: if a homer simpson style character became a ghost after his mistake makes a nuclear plant go up in smoke) It's still a tragedy that they died this way, but when it's a self inflicted, Darwin-awards kind of death, it seems a little less messed up for them to have a stereotypical glow.

Science-wise: radioactive materials don't usually glow, and not green. Only objects that have a specific reaction TO radiation will glow when they are EXPOSED to radiation. So unless people were painted with a material that reacted with radiation, they wouldn't actually glow even though they were dying of radiation toxcicity. Perhaps his ghost form in the human world might produce measurable radiation effects instead? He could certainly wonk out a geiger counter if he wanted!

Aww poor Hiro. He makes me so sad. Thats cool that he can possess all sorts of things. I wonder what it would be like if he possessed a tree?
