Alvar stood quietly under the night time sky. He took a deep breath as he gazed at the moon. It always relaxed him to stand in the moon's bright light, even if it was waning. His job was always the toughest when the moon took it's break from the sky. Cubs were more mischievous, adults tended to do dumb things. Guarding on the moonless night was the most stressful. He began to stroll again, surveying the land as he did. He hadn't seen another guard in a while and he was beginning to get anxious.

Shor'ame had a frown upon his face. He was one grumpy dude almost all the time. It made his job easier. He had been moving slowly doing his job as good as he could. He may have been slightly fat for a lion, but he could do this job easier than anything else. He had been surprised to come to this pride, and even more surprised that he found a place in it. It was the last thing he had ever expected to happen.
A sigh came out his mouth when he saw another lion close by. A new face, perhaps someone who wasn't suppose to be here. He put on an even grumpier face and approached him. "Halt, stranger!" He said with a rough voice.

Alvar stopped immediately and stood stock still. He was unsure of the lion before him. He had met a few of the guards but, being new, he had not met all of them as of yet. "Fear not fellow guard" he called out and bowed "I have not met you yet. I am Alvar and I recently was given the task of guarding this great land." Alvar smiled and took a few small steps towards the lion, allowing him a better look. He looked the lion over, stout but sturdy, and knew this was not one he wanted to mess with.

Surprised at how the other knew he was a guard, then again he didn't really hide the fact. He also thought he did his job good. He grumbled a moment before actually clearing his throat so he could speak to the other. He hated when they were so polite, then again he would hate if they weren't either. "Is that so? I'm Shor'ame" He said with a suspicious look at the other. He wasn't sure he could trust this new guy, then again... that wasn't saying much.
"How's the rounds going?" He asked trying to keep a casual conversation. It was his way of seeing if he could trust the newcomer. Not that he ever really did. Hell, he couldn't say he trusted anyone in this place. He was good at pretending to, though. Everyone was suspicious.

Alvar smiled and nodded when Shor'ame introduced himself. It was nice that he wasn't being obviously untrusting, though he was sure that the lion did not yet trust him. "It has been quiet around here, though I know it's going to get crazy at some point. The night that the moon turns it's eye elsewhere is always the worst night for youngsters doing dumb things." he said with a sigh. "It's the quiet before the storm, my friend" he added and shook out his mane before stretching.

Shor'ame wasn't completely sure if that was true. Since he had joined, some crazy things had happened, but they had long been over. Most nights seemed pretty easy and calm. He gave a shrug to the other and nodded as if perhaps the other was right. "Keep an eye always about, then." He said with a nod. He looked about to see if perhaps someone was sneaking where they shouldn't. So far, he hadn't seen anything. The night was where he liked best, he hated the day.
He wrinkled his nose a bit before nodding. "Something sure doesn't smell right." He said as if he was agreeing to the other's last statement. Perhaps there was a storm coming after all, and he was just blind to it for the moment, but he wouldn't be.
