Another day, another challenge it seemed. With a newly found 'ghost-child' in his care, the large lion was taking his patrolling more and more seriously. The border had always fascinated himself and the other pride members but more recently there had been voices. Shadows. There were haunting songs and sometimes dark, skulking figures beyond. Even more recently- cubs. First a pair of little males that seemed to have the markings of the old exiled war lord. Perhaps the ghosts were giving them a warning, offering a clue as to the fate of the family, or perhaps it was the restless spirits taking a form that would whisper an omen that the pride would well understand. His own cub was...strange. He bore no markings that anyone could claim and he seemed minutes from the womb when they had found him, as if the mists themselves had birthed him.
Anything at the border instantly had Thor tearing across the terrain, hungry for answers. Most days now, it was a challenge from an unknown outsider. Today, yet again, it was a female. As she called her challenge the lion returned the roar. A thunderous sound from deep within the pit of his chest shook his throat and cracked through the air.
With a warning given, the two lions tore forward and met in combat. The female opened with a decent blow of her paw, enough to leave a good mark and send some fur flying. In return, Thor threw his own paw out, his weight bearing down into the blow.
"COME NOW, LARGE LADY." He laughed after his own blow flew out. "GIVE ME SOMETHING TO SHAKE OFF LAST NIGHT'S SLEEP. I COULD TAKE THAT BLOW STILL HALF AWAKE!"
