Barely a week old and already Calder was showing signs of his feisty spirit. His eyes open, the young cub stumbled out from his den into the sunshine. He squinted, tearfully. It was so bright out here! The male stumbled forward and tried to make his legs behave. This was no way for a stormborn to walk. His tongue poked out as he concentrated on his feet. He really must get this right.
Slowly and surely he managed his legs and feet and tail. It gave him a stately, if somewhat jerky, walk back and forth in front of his den. With time and grace it would become a slightly arrogant strut. His body showed to others how much he thought of himself lest there be any doubt. He was awesome.

"There is no way," Karm said blatantly, looking at her lighter companion who was poised, ready for 'attack.' "That wouldn't do anything accept make others laugh. Is that what you are trying to do to please today, laughter? Pft." Karm said waving a paw.
"Please, if you want to have strength, to need to earn it, live it, strive for it," she said simply, red eyes connecting with blue, "and if you don't have strength, you have weakness, and you don't want that."
Be strong, her father had always told her.
Be fast, her mother has said.
Live well, she had always wanted to do.
"Strength comes in many ways, Karm," Fen'li said with a bit of fire in her voice, but not too much, it wasn't in the naive thing's nature. "I can have a strong desire to do what I am meant to do."
"Be a slave?"
"Thrall, thrall is our title! Learn the word, it is good for you to know it, we came here, and that is that. We must learn to lvoe our home, that is what this is now Karm. Home. We have to make it as such. You need to find a way to make it as such for you."
Karm could never find happiness, but Fen'li could. She was a thrall, indeed, but she was happy to do what was expected of her as that was the way it was. Things were expected, they needed to do them. How else would the pride survive? It wouldn't that is that.

He heard voices and located them curiously. Calder puffed out his chest and tried to strut. It nearly became his downfall. The cub tripped and almost went face first into the dirt. Ok he wouldn't do it that way. Focusing on his walking he went closer until he spotted two lionesses. When he heard the white one calling them thralls he got a grin
"Hold there!" Calder came out with a cubby command as he moves further into view. He felt he could boss them around with imprudence. The cub realized that now he had their attention he didn't have anything for them to do. Quickly he tried to think of something.

Fen'li went to move against Karm but when she heard a voice, even as young as it sounded, she held her move, paw in mid air, as if moving to strike towards Karm. She didn't move an inch, breathed slowly, trying not to let her balance take her down. She wasn't able to see who said the command from this angle.
Karm heard the voice as well, but when she saw the cub, she quirked a brow and huffed, her tail whipping around for a moment in agitation.
She did not want to babysit today.
"Fen'li, you can move," Karm said to her, "he's a child," she said trying to wave off the command.
'Brut hre sraid hrold," Fen said in gritted teeth.
So she didn't move.
