It was a dreary day.
The landscape was barren and the female didn’t even realize she had traveled this far until she noticed bones of animals scattered across the ground. Maybe this was a sign for her to turn back, but she was curious. She was always a little too curious especially when there was clearly something going on. So she pressed on flicking her tail behind herself and keeping her eyes peeled for any kind of movement.
She loved to travel. It was her thing, but this was the farthest she had ever gone and it was the strangest thing she had ever seen. She wasn’t leaving anything behind and didn’t have to worry about anyone else. She was alone. Always alone and always wandering trying to find a place to settle. A place where she could make a friend or two and it wasn’t like her to want those kinds of things. She was fine with simply being alone for the rest of her life. She had no problem with that. She wanted someone she could trust.
Stopping her movements, she glanced around the landscape for any sign of life. She felt like something was wrong, but she didn’t know what.

It might be a dreary day for her, but it was a fairly normal day for him. Utpala was wandering around the area outside of the pride. He was an immune apothecary, which meant he had permission to go outside of the pride and look for those exotic herbs that might help aid some of the symptoms of the disease that plagued there homeland. Which is what the big, brown lion was doing.
He had his nose pressed into some sort of bush that had managed to grow through the usually barren land to see if it smelled right. His tail flicked back and forth as he decided it didn't have any of the properties that the other plants he'd found and pulled himself out. The satchel about his neck wasn't even half full with today's finds and it was really disheartening. Slowly, he shook out his white mane and just let his lips pull into a wide frown before starting off again.
Utpala needed to find those right, specific plants. They had to smell strong. He paused after a moment, thinking he heard some pawsteps and just looked about. "Who's there?"
