Group 1

Everyone grew tense as the APC made it's way into the cave. There were twists and turns while stalactites and stalagmites seemed to rise and fall around them. Smitt had been focusing on what was ahead of them while Kirklan rotated the turret at a slow pace, keeping an eye out for any foul play the wolves might try to throw at them. What little good it would do to start blazing the main gun in a small space like this was stagnant in his mind. Slowly the corridor seemed to be getting larger as they went. One of the wolves escorting the APC had tried motioning them to stop,

"Kora, Kora!" he called out holding up his hand. Pulling a small trinket out of his sash, he walked up to a nearby wall. The beast pushed a few buttons on the device and suddenly, straight ahead, the walls split apart shining in a bright light. They slowly began drifting further apart and the sounds of what could be described more like a marketplace were heard. Tall structures could be seen through the doorway and above the bustling metropolis was a pulsating hexadecimal grid shield. The entirety of it all was surrounded by a titanic stone wall. Strange large beasts carried goods on their backs as well as passengers. There were some stands and tents just ahead. It seemed they had entered in what looked to be a marketplace.

"Allu'e," the guide spoke with a relieved tone, progressing forward.

"What are yo-" Gillian started as Samuel jumped out from the craft, but he couldn't have responded in time for her to hear him. He took a quick glance around making sure there weren't any beasts that would prefer to eat him on sight. It was oddly devoid of any signs of living creatures. No nests, burrows in the ground, or anything of that nature. He'd walked up to the nearest stone pillar and felt around. At first nothing seemed any more out of the ordinary but he must have hit a hidden switch as there was a quick *click* sound and one of the stones slid out of place to reveal a computer monitor.

A string of text filled the screen, none of it which made sense, and a green light started scanning the surrounding area. There was a pause in the computing when after a moment the words, "Starkin" appeared on screen.

2nd Lt. Sampson had just managed to catch sight of the Skyjet and made his way over to them in time to see the panel open. He dismounted and waved up to Daemon and Gillian in the Skyjet before walking near, calling out, "Hey buddy! Now what have you gone and found?"

Lia adjusted her grip as instructed, giving a slight smile to Max in gratitude, then sat nervously as the guide helped them through the huge doorway. A marketplace inside teemed with activity strange and wondrous, but Lia was trying to memorize "kora" means "stop" and "allu'e" something like "go on" or "ok." She had a feeling the language would be important if they were going to cooperate effectively.

She glanced around the cabin, paying special attention to the soldiers in the group. They were alert and wary, but so far things seemed calm. She was immensely glad no one was shooting at them now.

Group 2 Skyjet Pillars

The skyjet holds position while Sam inspects the pillars. Daemon didn't like it, but he wasn't about to lose another person by leaving him behind in hostile territory. "This is starting to seem like a decidedly bad idea." he mutters as he sets the camera to scan for possible threats.

A few moments later he notes that apparently Sam had found something on one of the pillars, and a moment after that it started emitting a strange green light startling him slightly. Just as quickly as it started the light stopped leaving Daemon blinking is surprise. "The hell was that?" He says just as the console started emitting a low warning buzz indicating that something fairly large was inbound, checking the monitor, he sighs in relief when he sees its only the hoverbike carrying Lt. Sampson. "Far too many surprises for one day."

When the bike stops Lt. Sampson waves up to the skyjet. Daemon waves back in acknowledgment and syncs his comm link to the hover bikes private line. "Hey there Sampson, glad to see you in one piece. Seems Sam over there has found us something interesting."

The sudden appearance of a screen caused Samuel to jump back a little, just in time to hear the hum of the hoverbike behind him. He spun on his heel and leveled the carbine with the bike, but as soon as he saw it was a friendly, he lowered the gun.
"Hey buddy! Now what have you gone and found?"
Sam looked back at the monitor and sighed. "Starkin. Sounds like a name of some sort, but nobody I would know, and I'm not about to mess with this any more. Anyways, I think it's high time we met back up with the rest of the group. Do what you want, but my curiosity is sated."
With that, Sam returned to the Skyjet and climbed back on board. "Hey pilot, what say we meet up with everybody else now, come back when it's light out, and maybe with more guns. At least now we know there is something here."
He then turned to Gillian, "I don't suppose you've got a flask on ya? I could use a drink." She shook her head, and Sam realized she looked like she could use a drink herself. "Alright, now we have another reason to meet up with everybody else, a rumor was going around that one of the military crew had brought some spirits on board with him, and I won't lie, 3000 year old whiskey sounds damn good right about now."

"Looks like some sort of computer, which unfortunately isn't my area of expertise," Sampson responded back to Daemon over the comm. He walked over to the console to see what Samuel was doing.

"Starkin. Sounds like a name of some sort but nobody I would know, and I'm not about to mess with this any more. Anyways, I think it's high time we met back up with the rest of the group. Do what you want but my curiosity is sated." Samuel made his way back to the skyjet and climbed aboard.

So now there was Sampson who wad the curiosity of nine cats and only a fraction of the lives so he decided to follow suit by leaving it alone.

"I saw some friendly natives helping out others of the group that headed south into the forest, they could probably lead us to them," he told Daemon over the comm again. There was some serious action over past the seed ship as something exploded from past it. Sampson had just started up his bike and waited for the Skyjet to move. He'd follow close below them.

"Copy that." Daemon says over the comm before once again turning back to their original course. The explosion draws his attention back to the remains of the ship and he wishes there was something more he could do. "Whiskey huh? After all of this I think I could use a drink myself."

Shaking his head to clear it, he accelerates the craft rabidly heading towards the woods where the first group had vanished. "We should keep trying the radio. Someone down there should be able to hear us."

Group 1: APC in cave

Following a wolf-beast through a blind cave on an alien planet after having been blasted out of the colony ship was pretty high up on Smitt's list of things he never wanted to do. He could only imagine what other things on that list he might be faced with soon and just really hoped none of them were on the death end of the spectrum. Of course he wasn't the only one having similar thoughts. All the soldiers and most of the civilians looked right scared and there was more than one twitchy finger on a trigger. Luckily no one had fired yet and the two biggest guns belonged to the two calmest in the group.

Kirklan was muttering curses at their situation under his breath the whole time but he was keeping his cool and Jake, well, Jake seemed more curious of the wolf-beasts than afraid of them. But then Jake had always been one to believe in the wisdom of animals and even strange creatures not very different from these. He was more at home in the wild and with actual wolves than the closed spaces and crowds of human cities.

So it was a great disappointment to Jake when the cave opened up to a place that more resembled a human city than a wolf's den. Smitt on the other hand, and many of the others, breathed a sigh of relief when the cave didn't end in a pile of bones. Of course it wasn't over yet so Smitt still wasn't convinced they weren't being herded to some sort of sacrificial ritual or slave encampment. He didn't have much choice in the matter though at this point. Backing out now would not only be difficult it would most likely offend the wolves greatly if not cause an actual fight and they'd had plenty of chance to seal the cave behind them so there was no guarantee that Smitt even could get out now if he tried.

Crossing that threshold though was a certainty there would be no turning back so Smitt hesitated a moment, looking over the others in the APC with him before driving through. Kirklan was still grumbling and Jake looked a bit more tense now that he was facing a city but the civies seemed relieved by the sight and willing to go on. Smitt gave a lingering glance to Max holding her gun and sticking to what seemed to be a doctor's side. At least they had a medic.

"Somebody stop me if you think this is a trap," Smitt invited the others to object before he let off the break and rolled the APC slowly into the wolves' den.

Lia chewed her lip but said nothing. It didn't look to her as if they had much choice in the matter, even if it was a trap (and what did she know about traps anyway?). She clung to the hope that the natives were every bit as friendly as they looked. She looked up at Max for reassurance, but Max was just stoic at the moment. She gave her a professional glance and concluded that while there were no obviously life-threatening injuries, the huge soldier had been through a lot and would need rest soon. She looked around the cabin. Food and water would also be welcome. Was there any to be had here on the ship?

Group 1

The APC slowly progressed into the bustling marketplace. The civilians gave various expressions of excitement and wonder of the strange vehicle. The shopkeepers even paused their shouts of sale to watch the hulk drive past. The guide motioned Smitt towards a large structure nearby that stretched upward almost to the pulsating shield above.

"Starkin, this way. We have much to talk about there," It beckoned, speaking in English this time.

The structure stood pure white and pristine. It appeared to be made of porcelain with how it gleamed. There was an open garage door that looked large enough to fit a good number of APC's and still have room to walk about with ease. For the most part it was currently filled with metal crates and odd vehicles from the looks of it.

Group 2

Daemon piloted along the coastline away from the pillars with Sampson not far behind. Gillian kept her eyes towards the seed ship waiting so get a view to the battle behind it. Another crash echoed and a low rumble of twisting metal cried out from the enemy cruisers. As soon as they were in clear sight to their surprise each of the enemy ships was on the ground littered in pieces.

"Looks like the bad guys lost the fight. Whoever these natives Sampson was talking about are, they're strong." Gillian piped up.

Daemon looks over the wreckage of the battle as they fly past. "Looks like the bad guys lost the fight. Whoever these natives Sampson was talking about are, they're strong." Gillian piped up. "I'll say. Let's just hope they really are on our side, I've had enough of being shot at for one day." When the forest comes into view, he picks up the radios handset and begins to reestablish contact with the other groups. "This is Deamon Straus if any of you can hear me please respond, we've lost visual of the main group and can use some directions."

Samuel listened to Daemon try the radio multiple times with no response, watching over the battlefield. Twisted metal, destruction, and fire littered the ground, but at least the metal bastards were on the run. As Daemon tried the radio for a fifth time Samuel stopped him, "you think they might be in a cave or something? Either way we don't know how far into the forest yet, they may just be out of range." He looked again out at the battle that was finishing up and something pulled at him. He radioed down to Sampson, "Switch with me, there are definitely wounded and I want to get some idea of what we are up against. I feel this way I can set a good example and gather intel at the same time.
