Aka was walking at slow pace towards the lumbering waterfall just outside the outskirts of the pride. He always like coming here, even when the weather was so hot and moist that the last thing he wanted was to run into a jungle. Well, it wasn't a jungle really. Just a collection of crowded trees that hooman campers once used a long, long time ago. Heck it was before Aka was even born that the strange creatures had apparently moved on from this area!
He made his way to the pool of fresh water after a long and exhausting work-out session. Phew! He needed to have more of those. Working out was in his blood after all and being even a little bit lazy started to weigh on his ability to do things properly. Primarily play Kikombe, the main game featured in the pride.
Once he approached the waterfall his legs were shaking and sweat poured down his face. He was panting, but couldn't tell between the nice big gulps of water he was consuming. Oblivious, he didn't notice the two little children nearby...--- "I'm sure it's this way!" Leilani said in a bubbly tone. She and this other orphan, uh... Pipaluk! Yeah, they had both decided it was a wonderful idea to go exploring in the forest. They had gotten lost since they didn't tell any of the adults about it, and they ended up wandering around for what felt like days!
It was actually just a handful of hours since they went missing, but it was enough to stir a panic amongst the other orphans and the klipspringer who took care of them all. Leilani tried to keep a positive attitude, and bounced her way around as they crawled about the forest- not knowing or caring that they didn't know where they were going. It was so fascinating seeing all the pretty things in the forest after all, Leilani herself had lost track of time! "Come on, Pipa." She said in her usual, happy, light and fluffy mood. "Can't be too far!"

“Wait…” Pipaluk managed to yell to Leilani. She always seemed to be so much faster than Pipaluk; blurs of green passed by slowly as they ran on. Pipaluk was worried about what could be in the forest, and let her imagine run wild. ‘But then again, what’s the worst it can be.’ A breeze of wind brushed against her fur as they emerged from the forest. The sounds of crashing waves filled her. She could almost feel the water moving just from hearing it. She looked up noticing how high the waterfall was. She wonders what it would be like to be at the top of it looking down. She felt as if she would never be able to know what it was like.
Her eyes scanned her surroundings noticing a lion there. If her memory served her right his name was Aka’ula. She had anger towards him. This anger was not something she was proud of. It was more like jealously. She was mad at him because he was happy, and because he never seemed to be alone. Except for now this time seemed different. The two young orphans approached the elder. “Why are you here?” She asked with haste.

The cheeton paused in his indulging of lapping up the water to turn and notice two little bodies emerge from the forest. Ah- they were! If memory served correct he had noticed these two once upon a time. They had come with a bunch of other orphans to the pride together, and these two usually stuck side by side with another hyena pup who resembled the one he was looking at now. He never did catch their names, or really even met them before. The one had glared at him funny when he tried to greet her, but Aka wasn't able to start being bitter about it or hold grudges. He was relaxed, carefree and honestly didn't notice the hate she harbored for him.
"Oh, me?" He asked in an almost clueless tone. He was about to skip the question all together (like pups and cubs would notice) but he had gazed briefly in the water to notice a fish swim to the surface. A smirk inched its way onto the hybrids maw and he turned with a flamboyant mane flip to face the duo. He stood tall, proud but natural in his posture. "I was catching fish." He said with a grin. The tone and confidence of which he said it made almost believe himself in that little fib!--- Leilani did not approach Aka, but remained where she was at the border of tropical bushes and the waterfall. It rumbled and roared, and her feet almost felt like they could have started shaking if she wasn't such a far distance from the water itself. She wasn't feeling like she was in danger though, but curiously her ears perked forward a little to pay more attention to what Aka said. "Catching fishes?" She said, and turned to excitably bump Pipaluk's shoulder. "Did you hear that, there are little itty bitty fishes in this pond!"

Pipaluk giggled a little. “I bet I can catch one before you.” She teased with a smirk on her face. She pawed at the water carefully not wanting to fall in. The two children attempted to catch a fish not succeeding.”Ah” She said after dropping one back into the water. She looked over to Aka who was watching them for a bit smiling. ”Can you show us how to catch them?” She said not wanting to ask for his help. She had to admit to herself that he was the adult and most likely knew better. He would be a good person to learn from.
Pipaluk wondered how her sister was doing. It was a little strange for her sister to not tag along with them, but them again she did have other friends to. Pipaluk couldn’t help but always worry about others. She always felt as if she had a responsibility to protect and look out for those close to her. This is why she is a little intimidated by new things that could possibly pose a threat. The best way to describe it would be to say that she is afraid of the unknown. To her Aka was the unknown. She was curious of him despite this fear she typically had. ”Can you please?” She nagged again hoping that saying it over and over would make him say yes.

The little cheetah had darted over first in her enthusiastic mood and started trying to nab a fishy with her little paws. Pipaluk had came over and joined too- but none of them had any luck. Fish would jump out of the water and the cheetah would dive to catch it in her teeth. Other times she'd sprint into the shallow areas and lunge forward into the water in an attempt to sink her claws in the fish scales. Once, she had got so close she could feel the silky smooth texture of the fish under her paw pads but laughed as it tickled and released the fish instantly.
Her tail swayed with curiosity as she eyed the water and watched the fish all swim around where the water was quiet. She dipped her paw in just to see what would happen and watched in amazement as the first squirmed around to avoid her. What silly, funny creatures! "Why of course." Aka said and turned, again with a proud stance, to face the pool. This was the part he was waiting for in his fib, the silly story he had concocted in order to grab the orphans attention as they feast upon their fishy meal. First he needed to catch said meal, but still! Stories wasn't his strong suit, or even his trade but Aka was an entertainer... Of sorts. If running around all sweaty and chasing after a lightning-quick shell counted. It counted right? Of course it did. Regardless, these were orphans. He felt subconsciously bad for them and whatever led to them being abandon. He also needed to make sure they listen to him and followed him back to the pride. They were pretty far out, and it would be easy for them to get lost. The last thing he needed was to lose a couple of orphans. Oh, how humiliating! That would damage how responsible he was perceived by others, and he could not. have. that. Not when he was striving to be a captain at least. Not to mention... It was demoralizing. He couldn't live with the shame and worry of having lost two helpless little kids in the middle of a forest.
He gazed over the pool with his light blue eyes. Carefully, he monitored the movement of the fish best he could. Here, his offence player reflex's came into play and he lunged swiftly into the water. His whole upper body temporarily submerged he quickly pulled back and through the soaking (and now flat) fur one would see a squirming and struggling fish in his mouth. He carried it away from the pond, careful not to trip over Leilani who was at his heels, and set it down for them to enjoy. "Here, a top quality fish." He assured them. He grinned again, smugly. "Lucky I didn't get eaten by the monster."

“A monster?” Pipaluk asked with excitement. “What type of monster?” She said with brightness in her eyes. If she was to catch the monster she would be so overjoyed. She had only ever heard tales of monsters before she had never saw one. The other kids used to tease her for thinking they were real but Pipaluk didn’t really care. She believed what she wanted to and wouldn’t let anyone else tell her otherwise. Pipaluk always liked to rely on her imagination to carry her out of hard situations or just anytime in general. It made her happy she figured it didn’t matter what anyone else said. She was proud in what she thought and always would be.
This was why she enjoyed spending time with Leilani. They had a childlike imagination in common. “I bet it’s a monster with lots of teeth!” Pipaluk said excitedly. ”It’s probably giant.” She ran up to Leilani. ”What do you think it looks like?” She asked with a grin.

Leilani shuddered as Pipaluk began to excitably concoct new types of dangerous monsters for her too imagine. Of course she knew the Hyena had a fascination for such things, but "Eeek! Scary!" She blurted out loud. "L-Lot's of teeth! You really think so?" She looked horrified at the thought of being chewed up by a thousand teeth, or being squashed like a bug under the foot of a monster.
She turned back to Aka with pleading eyes, "The monster? Does it really have lots and lots of teeth?" "Yes, big, sharp pointy ones." He replied with a grin."Ah! I'm scared!" She placed her paws on her head in fear. It was bad enough that Pipaluk was teasing her, now this Aka guy too?

Pipaluk grinned it was always fun to tease Leilani. ”But the more teeth it has means the more famous we will get once we catch it!” She hovered over Leilani trying to get her to stop hiding. ”With Aka here we won’t even get hurt.” She said knowing it was true. ”Everyone talks about how strong he is.” She exaggerated. She looked over to Aka beginning to like him a little more. She felt a little bad for hating him before even talking to him.
Aka wasn’t even a bad person which is what made her feel worse about not liking him. He was fun to be around and very nice. Pipaluk felt as if she gets along with him. She felt as if she could treat him like a friend or a father. Being near Aka made her feel more safe and confident about being near the monster. This made her grin to herself. “Come on Leilani just ask Aka.” She said titling her head.

Aka nodded in response, and watched as lil' Leilani poked her head out from under her paws. If he wasn't trying to act like such a big, burly manly man he would have awed at her cuteness. But that wasn't the case and he needed to keep up the act. Especially when Leilani was scared and at risk of running off into the forest alone. Oh gods, he would not let that happen. "Yes, come on Leilani." He bend his upper body forward so he looked like a puppy anxious to play. He needed to stretch his upper body too, no doubt they'd want a show of some sort for him to act out as if he was fighting the wicked "monster" they were going to "chase".Leilani gave a light sniffle and then rose her head up to stare at both Pipaluk and Aka'ula. Her gaze shifted very slowly, staring intently at both of them as if trying to decipher if their eyes could tell they were lying to her or not. Eventually she sighed in believing they were being truthful and sat up. "Alright." She sniffed again. "Where is the monster hiding?" This question didn't seem to be directed at just Aka but at Pipaluk as well, almost as if she wanted the Hyena to give her, her professional monster-hunting opinion on the matter.

”Hmm…” Pipaluk murmured trying to figure out where it could be. ”It must be hidden behind the waterfall!” She proclaimed quite proudly at that. She ran up to the water. ”We have to swim to get over there!” She looked back at the two felines standing behind her. She began to think that they may have a little problem with swimming in the water but that didn’t really matter. If they were going to be monster hunters they had to do it right. That meant chasing the monsters down no matter where they were. ”It might be dangerous but I’m sure we can do it.” Pipaluk said with confidence. She slowly began to enter the water but turned around first to look at the other two. ”Oh no the fish are…are…” She couldn’t come up with anything for once. She was hoping one of the other two would join in with her wild story to continue it. Stories always seemed better when there are multiply people telling it. "I can't tell what happened to the fish you guys have to come closer to help me!" She said trying to act scared with a fake gasp.

The hybrid was startled at Pipaluk's eagerness to jump head-first into the pool. The plan in his mind was to lure them away from danger, deep into the heart of the pride not further into it. Well, he shrugged and approached Pipa with laughter, no use worrying over it. Perhaps after her exploration of what he was certain was nothing behind the waterfall they would come back and be satisfied. "Oh no!" He called. "I hurt my leg earlier, I can't swim!" That was encouraging enough to make them give up, right?Actually no, no it wasn't. Leilani was feeling oddly brave after hearing poor Aka was feeling no good. It was up to her now, she had to save Pipaluk from the mean, evil little fishes! "Hold on, Pipa, I'm coming!" she ran clumsily into the pool and nearly rammed right into the poor black Hyena's behind. "Oopsy." She giggled.Leasano Pipaluk is the most adorable monster-hunter ever, okay?

CaliWolfe They are the most adorable characters ever. I'm going to cry when they grow up. Pipaluk and Leilani tumbled over each other nearly drowning one other, but they managed to hold on. "We have to go back for Aka." Pipa managed to say over the noise of splashing water. "Never leave a man behind." They turned around going ashore finding Aka struggling. Well at least pretending to. "This mission is meaningless if we can't all complete it together." She said with tears in her eyes trying hard to play the part. Her and Leilani helped him stand up. It wasn't really helping as much as it was them leaning on him, but at least they believed they were being helpful.
"We have to heal him." Pipa said trying not to seem joyful in the fact that an adult was playing along. She ran over to the trees grabbing leaves and sticks. She played them around him leg trying to make a cast. "Can you still move on?" She asked with her puppy dog eyes. She was trying to act cute, and she was succeeding.

Aka had to stop himself from smiling at Pipa and Leilani's efforts to "help" him. How adorable of them, even going so far as to make a small- rather messy cast for his "injured" leg. It was made rushed, and with hardly proper materials for a player's legs, but he grinned as they both attached to his foot. It would likely to fall apart as they walked, but he hoped by then his leg would have "magically healed" itself and they wouldn't fret over making another.
"Yes, I should be fine." He said to them both, and then averted his gaze to the distance. He could see through the trees that the savannah sun was turning the ground an orangey-brown color, signing the sun would begin it's descend shortly. He lifted his paw as Leilani pressed hard against his front foot and forced him to brush his claws against her head. "Come on Aka, we'll make it!" She called, and looked over to Pipaluk for reassurance of this. They would have to get him back home now, and to a medic's place. Player's got hurt all the time, but she was desperately hoping that Aka would be able to recover before the next game he had to play. She was so focused and determined on this that she hadn't bothered to notice that Aka had begun walking by himself. Instead she kept herself pushed up again him as she "helped" him to inch closer to the kikombe playing fields.

”We must head home it is getting dark.” Pipa said as if to prolong her title of leader. They struggled trying to make it to the field. ”I’ll give you a break this time but we still need to finish our adventure someday.” She said with a grin. Pipa figured out that Aka was just faking so she said to him. ”I used magical leaves to put on your foot so it must be healed by now.” Aka played along and began to walk normal. The three of them began to walk back at a faster pace side by side. ”I bet I can get there before all of you!” Pipa ran off towards the falling sun. Leilani and Aka followed. Leilani ran with all her might catching up to Pipaluk, but Aka stayed behind as if to make them feel that they could beat him. ”You better hurry up Aka or you’re going to lose!” She yelled back to him with a giggle.
