He had been in a rather good mood lately and all of it had to do with Kikombe. He had played a nice few games recently and had finally kicked the bad habit he had developed of being lazy when he should have been working. In fact, the past few months had been dedicated to nothing but exercise from the crack of dawn until the sun finally set. As a hybrid he knew many teams who wanted him to play for them, but the purple manned cheeton had just never felt right on any of those teams. Or any team. He’d slowly been becoming infamous for his horrible tendency to switch teams. He play for one, and then the next day be squaring off against another who were his allies the night before.

What was worse was that Aka didn't seem to care. In fact, it was only a total of two times previously that he had stopped to wonder why none of the coaches had asked him to join their teams as a permanent member. He had come to the conclusion that it was because he said yes too much. Definitely that. He had agreed to play for three teams this week, although one was just a fill-in position in case one of the players didn’t show up.

Aka completely disregarded the thoughts of where his career was heading and plucked a freshly cleaned shell up while approaching a make-shift net. He was happily walking with a half skip and continued to hum as he aimed to shoot the shell into the goal a few yards away...

There was nothing to do.

Lazy brown eyes glanced over the field boredly, idly watching a small butterfly fluttering past. As a cub, he would have gleefully gave chase to the small insect. It would have provided many adventures that he could divulge in, and plenty of stories. However; he was no longer that young. No longer could he take pleasure out of running across the dusty field, kicking up dust by himself. Nor could he take the same fun out of chasing a mere butterfly. It was too easy; there was no competition to it. So Barawai continued to lay there.

As his eyes drifted and followed the butterfly, however; he did notice his brother, Aka, walking towards the shells. The hybrid’s attention focused solely on his sibling, watching with apt interest as he was walking over towards the shells. It was just the competition that he needed. Would his brother play though, or was he going to see the shells being polished? He hoped for the former. A quick game was just what he needed to cure his boredom.

Even though Bara desired to quick game; he didn’t get up from where he was at. It was only until his brother grabbed a clean shell and aimed to shoot it into the goal that the hybrid jumped up and raced towards the net as fast as his paws could take him. He didn’t even give his brother a warning shout. And why would he? Where would the element of surprise be if he suddenly made his presence known? So instead he skidded into the makeshift net before whipping around and staring at Aka. ”You’re not going to get that in the goal without a fight.” Bara declared, tensing and watching the shell intently.

"Hmm?" Aka raised his head. He had been batting the shell against his wrist in attempting to judge it's size and weight ratio. Now he looked up. That voice... He recognized that voice, it was... "Barawai!" He called out, a flushed look of relief washing over him. He even gave a light chuckle as he slapped the shell towards the net carelessly. It was nice to see his brother once in a while. Aka's terrible sleeping habits usually made him very limited in social interaction. In fact the only social interaction he had received lately was from all the teams he was playing on. No one had time to get angry at him for switching randomly either, because he'd be gone and off somewhere else to train as soon as the game ended. Did that make him a bad player?

Oh. But Barawai was a player too. Or was he a coach? Aka couldn't remember and it made him bite his lip while trying to think. Oh. Now he was just staring blankly into space like an idiot.

"What have you been up to lately?" He asked, trying his very best to make ideal small talk.

"Aka," Barawai greeted, nodding his head curtly as he stood ready. He wasn't going to get distracted by his brother's chipper demeanor. Falling for it would only succeed in letting him score. He couldn't have that happen. The male may be his brother, but that didn't mean he was going to go soft with him during their small game. Which, of course, Aka would agree to. Why wouldn't he? They barely saw each other, and Barawai was selfish. He needed a game to occupy his mind. Entertain him. Aka was the perfect male for the job.

And the shell aimed towards the net was the perfect opportunity. Barawai rushed towards it, tongue darting out as his paws latched on the polished top. However; his paws slipped on the surface, and it darted underneath him. Stunned, Barawai craned his neck down to look from underneath him. A sour pout overcame him as he noticed that it had landed in the net. So much for trying to protect the goal. "I need practice," he groaned, plopping his rump down on the ground as he stared petulantly at his brother.

Barawai's brow furrowed. What had he been doing lately? "Nothing." Jealousy crept through his bones. Aka could join any team he wanted to. And yet, he struggled to find a strong team that met his expectations. Aka would have been a great comrade, however; he switched far too much. Wasn't reliable. He may be his brother, but on the field, it was an entirely different matter.

Sighing, the male gave his sibling a sour look before trudging over towards the shell. He aimed and hit it at his brother with a spin, hoping to catch him off guard. "Haven't found a reliable team yet." he admitted finally, sitting down once again. "What have you been up to?"

Aka indeed was caught off guard and struggled to leap and catch the shell as quick as he could, but falling a bit short as it slid under his claws and out of reach. So the cheeton took a few short strides to get near to where the shell was, and balanced it under his paw for a moment, calculating what to do exactly..

A reliable team? Oh yes, that's right, Barawai was looking for one wasn't he? Of course Aka was so tired most days he didn't remember important details like that. Waking up really early and working out all day made him liable to forget the details he needed to remember. And it made his muscles sore. Maybe, he thought, maybe he should start working out a better way to train each day...

"I've... Been playing on different teams." He admitted. "I think I'm going to take a break though, playing on all these teams is... stressful." He was ready just to pick one and stick with them. Problem was, not all teams liked Aka. He seemed lazy, even when he wasn't. This discouraged those he played for from recruiting him. That and the fact that he switched between them all. He was pretty sure everyone was getting fed up with him lately.

He batted the shell with his paw and sent it spinning towards his brother. Maybe Barawai would be able to stop it... Maybe not.
