The priestess felt energized. The month had been kind to her. An elder for the Clans, her guardian back at her side, dedicated to her and her alone, and Medea had finally led them out of the stagnant existence they'd been forced to endure within the reserve. They had purpose again, a chance to reclaim everything that had been ripped away from them. She had given back their reason for being, but more than that, she had given them a home. A real home, and not just the bare stretch of dirt they'd been allowed to build huts on. The tower was glorious, better than Nergui could have imagined, and she was more than eager to get settled into her new quarters.

Or should she say their new quarters.

"Are you sure it's not too heavy?" He'd already assured her it wasn't, but the climb to the top of the tower to the Death Clan's level was a long one. The mare glanced back over her shoulder at the tall stallion and his impressive burden. A bag in each hand, one under an arm, and a satchel on his back. Nergui had her own bags, mostly books and scrolls, but they were small in comparison. "We could have made two trips." Again, something she'd already mentioned. It made her smile up at him.

She could smell sulfur, and melting metal. It smelled like home, and the mare drew in a deep breath, eyes closing with the nostalgia. It struck her like an old ache in the heart, and she realized she'd begun to forget bits and pieces of their former home. Losing important aspects of their culture. The Death isle had been a cold beauty, their culture rich and ancient, and they had been losing it. It broke her heart, but Medea had given it back.

"I have missed this." She sounded wistful, almost sad, but there was a soft little smile on her lips as she gazed out over the enormous space that was all theirs. It wasn't an island, but it was Death, and it was glorious.

"Got it," the stallion answered, hauling up the various bags. It was a matter of pride to take it in one trip, though it was possible that he could have coerced someone to help them move. It would have meant assisting a priestess after all.

But no, he had managed it on his own, and if carrying a potted plant in a bag on his back was ridiculous...well there were a few (very few) things about the reserve that he had rather liked. Lifen had assured him that it would be fine so long as he didn't over water the flower.

His nostrils flared as he took in the essence of home. The very air was heavy with it, and he could feel the heat from the forge as they made their way to their new quarters. Soren could see Neru taking it in, and if he had had a free hand he might have tangled it with hers. A short nod met her words, and looking around he felt a swell of pride in their High Priestess. She had done this for them, and for that she deserved their support. "The tower will be easier to defend," he pointed out, knowing that the tactical advantage of having them all in a walled structure outweighed the danger of gathering them back into one place. "We won't lose our home again." He would do everything in his power to make sure of that.

But the truth of the matter was that he was carrying a lot even for him, so before long he turned back toward where the quarters for Death were. "Have you already chosen our rooms?"

Of course he had it, she wasn't expecting a different answer, but she'd had to ask, again. A smile was directed up at him, and since they had reached the Death level of the tower at long last she paused at the top until he reached her, then fell into step beside him. Arms bumping periodically. Their hands were occupied, but she had a very hard time not touching him when he was with her. As if his skin were addicting, or essential, and she would fade and waste away without.

A very quick look was turned up to the vivid green of the plant sticking out of his bag and delicate features pinched in amusement. She wasn't sure how well it would do in the tower, but she really hopped it thrived, for his sake. If it did, maybe they could put together a small planter.

"I believe so as well." Maybe it was a hasty opinion, but Medea couldn't have picked a better location for them. It seemed so perfect. It wasn't an island, but it really did feel like home. His question about their rooms had her tearing her lingering gaze away from him and back towards their destination. "Yes, I am sure you like it. There is lots of room for your furs and trophies, my books, and anything else we may want or need." As elders, their quarters were a bit larger. Two rooms, a den, a kitchen area, a bath. Everything they could have ever wanted, and had been woefully lacking within the reserve. "It's just up here," she assured him, grinning now as she nodded down a corridor.

She stopped at a door, and setting one of her the bags down she drew a key from within, unlocking the door so she could push it inward to let them inside.

((Going with a bit of what was put in the pony info, we can change if needed))

A smile tugged at his mouth at the thought of filling their chambers with furs and trophies he had collected. Or both of them for that matter. And with the restrictions against killing humans being lifted he would soon collect many more decorations.

At the door he waited for her to enter before following in behind her, looking around the room that greeted them. It was a modest room, bare but with potential. He could almost picture the floor carpeted in furs, luxurious leather furniture for his priestess to lounge on rather than the somewhat standardized furniture the rooms seem to have come equipped with to make it immediately inhabitable. He set down the bags he was holding, removing the one from his back carefully so as not to spill the dirt out of the plant's container.

On one wall was a wide doorway leading to what looked like a kitchen and dining room. Another open door seemed to lead to what could only be a meditation room. Additional doors were on the back wall, and he moved toward one of those, curious to see what their room might look like.

The room was large, but what immediately struck him was the fact that there were windows, and another door leading out in that direction. Opening the door he found himself on a large balcony, breathing in fresh air. He turned to Neru, forcing down the side of him that wanted to ask her to christen the balcony before they unpacked. "It's perfect," he said instead, moving toward her and placing his hand on her neck. Leaning down he kissed her, letting a chaste start deepen into something much more obscene before pulling back and resting his forehead against hers. "It feels like home already," he whispered in the scant space between them.

Looking at your post and the new update I was thinking of this rough setup when I typed this up. I'm happy to change it, i just wanted something to try to visualize.

Bags of books and personal effects left on the floor with the rest, Nergui trailed behind Soren as he walked through rooms of their new home. It was large, and it held so much potential. Every wall she could see with all manner of treasures hung. Mounted fur, or skins, or skulls. Weapons, portraits, framed pages of history. Dark lips split, a joyful smile lighting up dark features. She couldn't wait to make this place her home.

No, their home.

Just the thought was enough to send the mare's heart on a faster flutter, and she turned automatically to watch the tall warrior as he walked into the lager of the two rooms and further out onto the balcony, similar thoughts running through her own mind.

She had followed him, placing hands on the railing as heterchromic eyes fell closed, thin chest rising and falling as she breathed it all in. His hand was warm as large fingers slid along the back of her neck, and she leaned into him without opening her eyes, a content sound passing through smiling lips before he claimed them.

The kiss had her turning palms sliding against his chest and down to his sides as it grew, and she was breathless when they parted, brow against brow. "I have a good feeling about all this," she admitted softly, looking up into candy apple eyes.

The voices were a soft murmuring static, once again reduced to the easily ignored quietness that happiness and contentment could bring. Rising up on her toes, she tipped her head so she could steal another kiss from him, and when she drew back her hands moved back up so she could circle his neck. "I love you," she murmured, thumbs tracing lightly against the line of his jaw before sliding back into the warm of his hair.

Yes, this place felt right. And it was good to know that they were on the same page, that both would be comfortable here. It would take time to fully make the quarters their own, but he looked forward to it. Looked forward to expanding their personal effects until they filled the rooms and everyone knew that this belonged to them.

But for now he focused on the moment, on stolen kisses that were freely given, on the feel of slender hands on him, thumbs stroking his skin and wrists against his neck. Her words caught him, not fully surprising, but unexpected. He felt his throat tighten, "I...me too." He couldn't quite get the words out, but the sentiment was there. Soon he told himself. Soon he would tell it to her so often she would think him a fool.

Instead he would have to show her that he did mean it, even if the actual words still stuck in his throat. He kissed her again, this one slow, concentrated on the feel of her mouth under his, taking and giving control over to her. His other hand settled on her hip, holding her to him but simply that, not turning the kiss into anything more.

For a man who had problems with words, this would have to speak for itself.

The words rolled off the tongue with surprising ease after everything that had happened, but she meant them. They had been true before, when she'd refused to give them voice, and they were true now. It still amazed the formally stoic mare that she even possessed the capacity for love outside the unbreakable bond with her cousin. For so long her heart had been closed to such things. Trivial, pointless feelings. There had been no time for idle distractions or foolishness, she had been a busy mare.

Then everything had changed with the fall of the isles.

Her stallion faltered as he answered, and though she understood it, she didn't especially like it. As ridiculously happy as she was, as they seemed, she was still nervous, and that showed in a tight lipped smile before he was kissing her again. Then, like every time before and every time to come, she melted into the heat of his lips, that soft velvet press and the faint taste of crisp apples. A small sound escaped the petite mare as his hand settled on her hip to keep her pressed against him.

Delicate fingers curled into his hair, and she drink him in as if he were water and she'd been lost in the desert.

Maybe he couldn't say it yet, the words sticking in his throat, but she felt the truth of his feelings. Her heart fluttered with it, hammering against the cage of her ribs. She was breathless when she broke the kiss, flushed and weak-kneed, and the look she turned up him was utterly wicked. His lower lip was given a slow trail of her tongue, a delicate kiss finding the corner of his mouth before she'd drag her cheek against his own so she could whisper into his ear.

He hadn't had to voice his idea, she was amorous enough herself to suggest it.

There was still a lot of work to be done in their quarters. They had to unpack, they had to decide what furniture needed to be replaced immediately, and then figure out what decorations they would need. He could imagine hunting in his future, though he was just as interested in trophies of the priestess if she decided to go hunt a few up.

None of that mattered at the moment. Christening their new room (and hopefully every room except perhaps the meditation chamber) seemed like a top priority, especially after the suggestions that she had made. A smirk tugged at his lips and then he was scooping her up. Unable to keep his lips to himself he bent his neck and continued to pay attention to her dark flesh as he carried her in and set her down on a spread of furs that awaited them.
