Uru gave a warm, closed-mouth chuckle like soft air escaping his nose in agreement with the ancient horseman. The marriage was between two packs, mostly for his mother to have yet another group of power under her sway. That was all it was, typical demon behavior to have one up over someone. She was always scrambling and grasping for whatever she could - the greedy woman. She had the biggest territory, a large pack, two of the biggest, strongest males of a pack as her 'mate' and consort, two pups that some would say above average in appearance. She had everything yet she wanted more. Of course, she never thought her own son would turn on her resulting in her exile. To be fair, she had started it. "Traditions aren't always set in stone. They're like guidelines that we are comfortable with. Ways that we know work or seek comfort in." The demon hound mused as he stared up into the sky, the fingers laced behind his head idly kneading the hair there. "They're just guidelines for what used to work. Doesn't mean they always will."

These were the sort of reasons Uru didn't always stay on campus, opting to go running in the woods, let his demon out, shift into his natural state and just go wild. Run as fast and hard as he could, laze out beneath a tree and sleep. No one would bother him, he would hear them before they go close enough. It was a way for him to escape the confines of being a student with classes, studying, and other obligations. Moments where he could just feel free for the briefest of moments. To enjoy his life, to remind himself that he had a life. He could almost hear it from Qui, the soft lull of the thump thump from where his heart lied - the rhythm slowing down to a soothing beat. The comment caught the boil's attention, his expression lax, uncommon from his usual surly expressions and indignant glares. Qui was probably right. He would do anything to keep anything sort of adversity to befall his life as it was. He was finally recovering from the trauma of his past, he was moving forward with his life. He made a good friend, maybe even more, and who be it to take that from him now? While he intended to ride it for as long as it went, he intended to extend that time as long as he could. Perhaps he should fall back onto the tradition of his pack, the sole purpose of his pack - protect what matters until the end, guide with comfort and company.

The boil smiled softly, the small hairs of his scruff flexing along the contours of his lips and dimples. "They make for good company, someone to talk to. Even if they don't understand, you're not alone." He added.

Uru was so refreshing a presence and company, Qui making soft "mhm's" to show his agreement with the demon. It was nice to feel like he belonged, in a way, that he wasn't alone in his thinking or views. And he couldn't put it any better for how traditions should be. Guidelines, but nothing to stay strictly on point with. After all, new traditions did come about from altering the old, or tossing them away completely! Heh, if his old clan could hear all this now... "You're a good boil, Uru." he murmured under his breath.

Qui could feel it, the pull to fall asleep, his muscles relaxing down his body, his feathers rustling faintly with the light breezes that would roll by them. But the mention of the mini's made his golden-crimson eyes peel open slowly to mere slits. Right... Uru was absolutely right. "I've hoped to get a few of my own." he replied, slowly shifting himself to sit up right, wings pulling themselves up too to tuck at his sides. One arm lifted and extended, FEAR pouring out of it like a ribbon of red, collecting and forming in front of him, making a large figure. It started to formulate and solidify, darken and show recognizable features; spots, fur, a long slinky tail, feathers dawned on an ear, a fluffy mane.. When it finally took shape, standing before the two boils was a large cheetah, amber eyes staring first at Qui before snapping over to Uru. But it stepped closer to the stallion, lowering its head to gently bump against the outstretched hand, the feathers on its ear--which matched and were indeed Qui's-- fluttering and dancing lightly. Stroking the mounts head, and scratching the large ears, Qui's expression was so very soft, and rather lively in opposition the the normal solemn look he usually held.

"This would be my closest thing to a mini, I guess." he teased, glancing over to Uru, as the cheetah mount began to purr deeply.

He was a good boil. Oh how he has never heard those words before. He sometimes imagined his mother uttering those words. Laughable really. She could only scold and demand, the praises she gave were because he had met expectations and nothing more. The phrase was so foreign yet felt familiar. Perhaps his father had said them once in a far off time when they were still together. When he was still alive. The times they spent hunting, building the boil up to be the demon he was today; not a demon like his mother, but one with a strong heart, a loyal soul (if demons had them), and a body to protect those around him. He was a good boil like any other, he'd wager. Uru let out a soft huff as he fell further into his recline.

A crack of an eye fell onto the gestures the horseman gave, shortly conjuring forth the large feline he had met once before. Large, strong, yet lithe and elegant. He could imagine the pair of them riding through the upper canopies off of the campus where the trees grew tall and the branches thick to bare the weight of the duo. How Qui could dance like the wind or how this spotted creature could move with such length to catch branches with its paws as it jumped through the forest. Horsemen was a strange misnomer. This was no horse.

"A mini, a companion, a friend, they are all the same. Yours comes to you when you call for him, loyal to a fault. You two are more attached in ways than any of us students could be to our minis." Uru spoke, watching the two interact in a way that was endearing to watch. For the briefest of moments, he could see the expression of the ancient one's change to be normal.

Uru, too, felt the relaxing nature of their company take them on. Campus was a hop skip away, the voices and bustle of Halloween Town was still in ear shot for the heightened senses of the hellhound. It was comforting to know at least. He got Qui to come close enough, surely he could come closer another time. With a deep breath, the boil sat upright, grabbing his jacket back the neck as he lifted it off his head - shirt riding up as the outer layer came free of his broad shoulders. Folding the dark jacket in his lap, he placed it down beside him. It wasn't instant, it was without motion that the boil's body was wisped in dark shadows before revealing his larger, furred natural state. With large forearms, canid muzzle and shape, the demon padded around once before settling down, head laying over one arm as the jacket acted as a makeshift pillow of sorts. It was also helpful that it smelled strongly of two scents that he had associated with him. Tucking his tail over his legs, he gave another huff. He had nowhere to be today, and it was nice to let himself down. It felt natural. It was only natural.

no worries. Qui doesn't mind. Words are cheap anyway. B}

The cheetah nuzzled adoringly against Qui, pressing his head forward to smooth and brush against the stallions cheek and neck. Chuckling lightly, Qui hugged his arms around the mounts neck, fingers curling and combing into the thick mane along the nape of its neck, burrowing his face against the soft, sleek fur. He was given some licks in return, the rough, long tongue running against his smooth, soft skin, but with great care with each stroke. That scent of his homeland was still on the cheetahs fur... reminding him of home, instantly letting memories flicker and pop up in his mind. With a deep inhale, he smiled naturally. Yes. Urur was right... he was lucky enough to have the companionship of his mount, who had been with him since... forever. He was never truly alone. But perhaps a selfish part of him yearned for the bond with another of flesh and body like his own.

But he was grateful for his dearest friend, his last piece of home that stayed with him, besides the etched ink that was written along his skin. His attention was pulled away as he saw the smoke suddenly appear beside him, an eye peeking and looking over to see Uru's new form. It made him smile more... some day, he'd hope to be able to do that too. He could remember older members of his clan shifting into their mounts forms, finding it to be so very amazing. The cheetah perked up as Uru transformed too, blinking at the canine curiously. With Qui's consent, arms lowering from around the large cat, the mount stepped closer to Uru, sniffing gently at him, a natural childlike intrigue about the creatures demeanor. Gaining the scent, and finding the demon acceptable, the cheetah returned to Qui, settling comfortably at his opposing side.

Grinning himself at Uru's natural form, he admired the interesting physique, and features.. and found himself unable to resist the urge to pet that dark fur. It was hesitant at first, his hand rising, flinching subtly even as it hovered in the air, before gingerly placing on Uru's snout to stroke the short hairs there. "I'm glad I met you, Uru. You kinda remind me of some of the stallions back home, who... back then, at the time, I didn't really get along with." he chuckled, with a smirk. "But.. I was pretty full of myself, and more cocky than was good for me." his hand increased further up the muzzle, to pet lightly between the eyes, and further along the crown of the head.

The sound of dead crash crushed beneath large paws and the subtle sound of a swaying tail had the demon's eye crack a bit to see the mount near him. The feline was inspecting, he understood, he would to if he was interested enough. The form was liberating. Unlike some he knew, he didn't have to crack every bone in his body, he didn't have to rip his muscles and tendons as they reformed and regrew to the point that agonizing screams cut themselves off as organs were also reformed. He was a demon, not a monster, his transformations were much simpler. However, he isn't able to hide his features like he could when he wore his pin. Ears long and forward, a notch taken from his left ear from long time since past, horns sprouting from the crown of his head that pulled forward before peaking thus turning back to guard a bit of his nape. His eyes turning to their natural dual-colors of gold ringed by a brilliant blue. As the feline came to sniff, Uru's large head nudged up his forearm as if to escape the nose of the beast.

It would seem that he was right in his initial thoughts, his intentions for Qui were that of Damien to himself. The ancient horseman needed someone, anyone that he could be comfortable with, to help him though whatever it was that plagued him. The inner-demons that made him flinch and hesitate. Hopefully, Uru would be able to do that for the winged being by letting down his own guard enough. Perhaps then, he could do the same for Damien. Relax, let go of apprehensions, to open to others. For now, though, this was a start for the both of them. He was becoming more tolerant as days went on, accepting company of others, but the touch of the ancient one was a strange sensation. Not many got to do so. The touch to his muzzle, the soft, short hair along his snout made his nose twitch. His brow furrowed as the hand trailed up to the crown where his horns laid, his ears twitching as the limb stopped. Uru let out a puff of air. He was a very tactile creature, he would admit, but it was still foreign to him after so long.

The cheetah watched the interaction between the two with great intrigue... long tail curling and flicking in a somewhat anxious kind of manner. He was getting jealous of all that petting Uru was gaining... Because of that, he laid down himself to rest his large head on Qui's lap, gazing up at the horseman expectantly. Chuckling to himself, the stallion indeed raised his other free hand to stroke along his mounts head, scratching behind large rounded ears, and combing through the fluffy mane down the nape.

But he continued the same cautious attention for the demon, as well, curiously letting his finger tips turn to follow and feel the hard horns that jutted from the hellhounds skull. Reaching the base again, he idly pondered if the things got itchy, like some horned creatures did... rubbing at the little fold of skin where the horns protruded from, he let his hand slide gently further back to reach Uru's scruff, "Don't get a lot of petting in this form, I'm guessing, huh?" he mused to his friend. Being a War Horseman, knowing all sorts of creatures and animals was important. He'd dealt with a great deal, and typically knew their soft spots. His finger tips curled to scratch at Uru's scruff, ruffling the fur slightly in the process, "Must have a spot you like being rubbed though, right?" well everyone did. Heck he was pretty prone to his own head being stroked, or warmth against his neck. And when his feathers tucked and hidden under the exteriors were scratched, and ruffled... man that always hit the spot. "Feel free to growl or bite me if you've had enough."

No, he didn't expose himself like this often to just anyone. Only one other creep outside of his family had seen him like that and that was his roommate. Let alone let anyone touch him. He closed his eyes, letting the physical stimulation of delicate fingers trace along his fur. He could feel the fur part as the fleshy appendage moved along his head, touching his solid horns of ebony. The War Horseman spoke, inquiring about his tactile habits. It wasn't often that anyone was able to get close enough to touch him, just Damien. With a huff, the demon pulled his head away from the touch, shaking his great head. That would be a sufficient answer as he laid his head back down. There were spots that he enjoyed, there were spots that made him melt that he never divulged to anyone. When Qui offered the option, the demon let a soft rumble roll deep in his chest as the male stroked his scruff. It wasn't a warning, but an indication - if it were to get louder, one should stop. He wouldn't want to bite the male. Growling? He growled at everyone.

Qui the animal whisperer

The coat was nice and healthy, which wasn't a surprise, given who it belonged to. One could tell a lot about a creature from its pelt. His hand rose at the shake of the mighty head, making him chuckle lightly, and his mount crack open an eye lazily to peek at the hellhound, before closing again contently. "Bet it feels nice being in that form, huh?" while he didn't know the extent of shapeshifting, and altering ones own natural form to take on another, he assumed it felt far better to be in the natural form you were meant for.

With the low guttural sound from Uru, Qui smiled a little more, letting his hand raise to stroke once more down the center of the canines head. That was enough for now. He'd find the sweet spots later. Carefully, he shifted, gently lifting his mounts large head off his legs, so that he could settle down into a laying position too. He curled on his side, letting his head rest near Uru's, his large wings flaring out to stretch before pulling in to tuck tightly around his body like a blanket. The cheetah assumed its position too, circling around Qui a few times, like a serpent, before resting up against his back, pressing itself to him, and coiling its long tail around the stallions condensed figure. A nice nap sounded in order. The cheetah's purr was loud, and deep, vibrating along the ground, and Qui's body, naturally trying to assist the horseman into a slumbering state. It even gave a few licks along the deep blood red hair, in an affectionate gesture,

It did feel better like this. It was their natural form. As demons, especially under his mother, they kept their guise as human-like to be more approachable, but also allowed them to display emotions to those who did not understand them. As humans, they blend in, deceive and manipulate. However, it takes a great deal of concentration to conceal oneself in such a state. As he were now, all he could do was huff and growl, it was only those who were of higher power that could speak in this form like his mother. The thought of her made him shake his head once more before settling it down again. He felt Qui get comfortable beside him, settling down for what he would assume to be a nap. He had his mount with him, so his presence wasn't necessary. However, it would probably be better if he didn't just leave him. He wouldn't want to wake up to find a friend of his gone. Besides, one could go for a nap. Flicking his tail over his side, he curled in tighter as he let sleep drift over him.
