It wasn't like Jhosef didn't have better things to do. He did! He really did... Like hunting, or trying to find decent cave to live in. Something like that. Lately, however, there'd been a female that had wandered this way quite a few times and she piqued his interest. She had fire on her legs and the most interesting eyes, each a different color, one red, one blue. He wanted to know more about her. That is why the male was sitting here on a limb of a great big tree looking down at this female. He was watching her, to chicken to actually speak to her. He was a huge baby when it came to members of the opposite sex. His tail flicked from side to side as he slowly climbed the limb out, craning his neck to try to get a better look. She seemed to have stripes on her back. That was interesting. The fire on her legs was the main draw for him though. It was fascinating. She dark and then it lit her up like a night fire. Jhosef laughed at his own thought process and just continued to crawl, unaware that the limb he was on was too heavy and starting to splinter behind him. It was windy, the sound of creaking was faint to his ears.

She was grooming herself under this great tree while it was too hot to hunt outside. Summer had come and taken her breath away. It was only her second summer, basically she was still a cub. Yahriel's first summer... she didn't remember it being this hot, but she was just a wee little thing. This area of the rogue lands was chosen by her because she followed a herd of antelope here; there was a small stream near by which acted as a sort of watering hole, a last stop before crossing the desert. That was something she wasn't going to do, thank you very much. The dark lioness licked her claws a bit, chewing on one that felt like the outer part was starting to splinter. Probably from missing her target and hitting rocks last night. "Stupid mistake," she muttered to herself, huffing. Yahriel was easily embarrassed, even if no one was around to see it. Just as she was about to lay her head down for a nap, creaking caught her ear. It sounded faint though. Still, she looked about and frowned when there wasn't anyone near by. When it seemed to settle, she dropped her head to her paws and let her tail flick against the root of the tree.

He was basically shimmying now to get to the end of the branch. It was the perfect spot to watch her from, unobstructed. Mentally, however, he was cursing himself for not just watching her from the ground. Maybe a rock would have been a good perch, but noooo, climb a tree he told himself. That way if she attacked him (which he was almost certain would happen) he could have some kind of protection. Or at least time to jump down and run away.
Before he could get to the end of his branch, however, it suddenly dropped a great deal and he looked behind him. Ears flattened into his mane as he saw the branch was breaking and he let out a lout yelp when the last of it snapped.
He couldn't even call down to her to look out.

With the creaking in the distance, Yahriel was about to drift to sleep. It was almost soothing. Maybe it was just a leopard climbing a tree with prey. That happened all the time, right? She seemed convinced that it was just some leopard.
At least until she heard a loud yelp and looked up. Something was falling out of the tree and she scrambled to her paws, trying to get away. Unfortunately for her she didn't and she was squished under a limb that hit her back. All the breath left her and she was left gasping, even as a thud hit beside her and sent up a great cloud of dust. Whimpering in pain, the lioness shifted a bit, throwing the limb off of her and let her fur bristle. Breathing in dust wasn't good. It wasn't fun in the slightest bit, okay. Groaning again, she sneezed hard a few times, whimpering out again and looked to where the thud had come from.
"H...Hey!"
It was a male. Oh gods he was dead! "No, no no! Hey. Hey you. Hey, are you OK?" He moved closer, whining a little more, nosing under his chin, putting paws on his sides to shake him a bit more, tail flicking hard. "Wake up, wake up!"

Not dead but terrified, sore, probably broken in a spot or two. Jhosef let out a groan when he came to because of a voice and pressure on his ribs. The male let out an actual mewl of pain and sighed when the pressure left, breathing a little easier. Whimpering again, he opened his eyes slowly, wincing at the sudden pounding in his head.
Then his eyes locked onto the female he'd been watching and he lept to his paws. Which, naturally, was a horrible idea and he let out a hard growl of pain, even as he started backing away. Words? He couldn't say anything! Hi I've been watching you for several days now? That would come off so creepy. "U-uh.. Uhm.."
Just as she was about to step toward him, Jhosef backed himself up into the tree, only to shudder and groaned again, flopping to the ground in pain. His back hurt. His tail hurt. His everything hurt.

Yahriel whined when he finally started making noises and moving, pushing herself away to sit flat on her but, looking every bit relieved. Thank the gods! He was alive. There wasn't any blood so she was assuming he wasn't injured... at least where she could see it. Maybe a broken bone or two? That wouldn't be good. Her brows knit a little when he backed himself up into a tree and then fell to the ground again.
"No no! Don't move. You're... ah.. you took quite a fall from what I can figure out," she scooted closer to him like a cub would and let her tail flick from side to side. "So you might actually have something broken. It's best not to move so you don't make it worse." She bit down on her lip and just looked him over again before sighing hard. "I'll... take care care of you now. Yeah, until you can move without hurting, anyway..." Offering him a grin, Yahriel seemed determined to do this, laughing to herself. "It's good you ran into me and not some crazy lioness, innit? You could be dead right now. She'd probably eat you."
Laughing again, she got comfortable and looked at him, watched him watch her and tilted her head to the side. "Oh! I'm Yahriel."

Oooooh dear.
She... wasn't right in the head was she? Maybe the limb had hit her harder than he thought. Swallowing a whimper, Jhosef shifted to sit up as best s he could, which really looked like him just hunched over a bit. This wasn't... well wasn't what he had in mind, actually. He was planning on bolting as soon as he could but if she was right and things were broken it might not be any time soon. His hip and shoulder were killing him on his left side.
On his own Jhosef would be absolutely useless. He'd die in a matter of a week. "...Uh.. Maybe? I mean.. I haven't met any cannibal lions yet, but I guess it doesn't mean they don't exist?" Should he engage her in conversation? Too late now. "Yahriel... I'm Jhosef. I wouldn't want to burden you or anything, so you don't have to take care of me. I kind of did crash into you."

"You didn't crash into me," the lioness said with a grin on her face. "You just dropped in to see me."
Bad jokes, but she laughed like it was the funniest thing in the world, heedless to the fact Jhosef had cringed because of her. "I've met one. At least I think she was one. She looked the part anyway. But whatever. Forget about that! What's your favorite meal? You know what? Don't worry about it. I can find you something. You're hungry, right?'
It seemed Yahriel had energy again now that her head wasn't pounding and she realized she wasn't injured. "Don't move." She was already backing away. "I'll bring you something delicious."
With that, the lioness with fire on her legs bounded off, practically frolicking at the idea of a new friend.

When she went into that horrible, horrible joke, Jhosef wished the ground would open up and swallow him whole. He was embarrassed for her. Blue eyes rolled as he put a paw over his eyes. It wasn't like he could really go anywhere anyway. He was pretty banged up. This was absolutely the last time he climbed a tree.
Don't move. Ha. Ha.

Yahriel was pretty sure Jhosef was going to like spending time with her. She was attentive, and caring, and kind. She was going to bring him a full grown gazelle and then she'd have a friend. Of course, it was his fault he fell. She didn't make him climb the tree, but at least it showed he had interest. Her tail flicked as she padded off, looking back over her shoulder to make sure he was still there.
