The pale lioness awoke to the eerie glow of dusk entering her shallow den and was almost immediately wide awake. Sabia`Nafsi stood slowly and began stretching with a wide yawn once finished she left her small home and entered the evening.

"Beautiful breeze." She mumbled to herself before heading on her way. Her duties would be beginning soon and she preferred to be able to move about the pride freely, perhaps with a little chatter here and there before truly settling into a shift.

Her only hope was that she could avoid some drama, but with all that was going on even something as simple as a difference of opinion seemed to be causing a rift these days.

"Lazing around as usual?" a harsh voice sneered out of the coming darkness. The familiar black and green lioness followed on the heels of her words. She looked much the same as the last time the two Guards had clashed, though this time her body hung low with the weight of her unborn cubs. Not that Tyfu permitted such a little thing to come between her and her duties...

...or between her and her ability to haze, persecute and otherwise inflict pain upon others. Shangyue wasn't doing much to curb any kind of behaviours among anyone, and Tyfu was eager to take advantage and indulge in the nasty and malicious deeds she always preferred to polite conversation.

There was no need to face the direction of the harsh voice for it could only be connected to one lioness, an unfortunately familiar one to Sabia. "Good evening Tyfu." The pale lioness spoke clearly, but still chose not to turn around. This was her time of day to be with herself and she wasn't ready to completely fork this time over to duties or a brawl. Which ever came first..

..If she knew Tyfu, and she did to a point, this would end in someones misery. Moments like these Sabia wished dearly that she had had more time to physically prepare herself for brawling, perhaps there would be time another day.

"Is meeting like this going to become a habit of yours?"

Sabia, not a vile lioness, was still capable of harsh tones. Though hers were extremely feminine and were certainly shaped by the rank she held in her previous pride.

The dark lioness snorted, somehow managing to convey how very little she thought of Sabia in the single wordless sound. "You seem to think that a lazy failure like yourself actually has any worth," she observed cruelly. "Me, I'm just making sure that all the Guards going out tonight are actually capable of doing their duty."

The not-so-subtle implication, of course, was that the white lioness was not at all able to fulfill her responsibilities. Time had apparently not improved Tyfu's opinion of her one jot. But then, what could one expect of a grudge-holding maliciously intended lioness?

Without a second thought Sabia dropped her rump, slow and elegant, but dropped it with a purpose. She was sure this would act as a sign of proof to Tyfus words and she hoped the dark lioness would act on it. Sure Sabia was certain she couldn't brawl as well as the other, but she'd be able to dig in at least a little.

"My worth is not of your concern Tyfu." The pale lioness smirked to herself, this was only her second run in with this lioness and in a weird way she was beginning to enjoy this. It did worry her once, as her Uncles line was quite brutal and vicious, but she instead chose to ignore her internal red flags and pursue some of the darkness. In this world it almost seemed a requirement.

When Tyfu spoke again Sabia decided to at least look over her shoulder, catch a glance of what she would be dealing with. "Is this your way of saying I have the night off.. Mommy?" As she was speaking the pale lioness took note of the lower abdomen showing on Tyfu, that could mean only one thing. The word 'Mommy' was said with a sneer.

Tyfu ignored the gibe about her pregnancy. She was wholly pleased with it. And with the father...he had been reluctant when she'd first brought up the subject, but when he'd discovered that they both wanted the same things out of it...and both wanted no one else to know specifics, he'd come around to her point of view.

Outwardly, she refused to lose her temper so easily to a useless lioness and made a show of examining the claws on one forepaw. "If you agree that your lack of skill is such that the King will be better protected with you spending tonight with the cubs and Nannies, certainly you can have the night off."

She didn't really care what the Head Guard said. As far as Tyfu was concerned, she was the highest ranked Guard (not Royal Guard) that answered to Shangyue.

Sabia`Nafsi chose this moment to turn and face her competitor. "You're being unusually nice this evening Tyfu, you're practically complimenting me!" The pale lioness met the others eyes with a smile. "You're becoming soft during your pregnancy..." Sabia almost laughed, almost, but she knew better. It would take more than pregnancy to stop Tyfu from making a mark on her pelt, that made Sabia grateful for the distance between them.

Once she had said her piece her mind almost began to wander and wonder, whose cubs were these? Based on Tyfus personality only someone who was equally as dark could Father the little demons that were festering in her abdomen. Sabia had a moment where she was sure of who it was, but couldn't make herself bring it up, couldn't even mutter a thought. A lioness would have to go through something awful being with a lion like that..

The studied pose held by the black lioness was revealed for the sham it truly was as the white female pushed her luck too far. If there was one word that never once described Tyfu, it was "soft" and the dark lioness was not minded to allow anyone to forget it.

As quick as an uncoiling snake, Tyfu lashed out with the paw she'd been examining. The claws were already out and she thrust them all into the white lioness' throat, as deep as they would go. Not slashing, oh no, she had no intention of killing the other female. But the pathetic excuse for a Guard had to learn. And if having five scars dotted on her throat was what it took, Tyfu was happy to help her. And more.

She held on, feeling the beat of Sabia's life in her paw, the angle of her foreleg forcing the other lioness's head up and back somewhat.

"Soft, am I?" she asked in a dangerously pleasant tone.

It was as though lightning had struck and run it's course through the body of the pale lioness. Pain shot out like small explosions from the clawed enter point to the tips of her now strained toes. If she hadn't felt numb to the touch she would also feel a few trails of warm, thick blood oozing from the fresh wounds. Taking a moment to inhale and slowly exhale Sabia gathered what she could and stared hard at the dark lioness whom had begun to speak, though the words fell on deaf ears.

"Is that-Is that.." A sputter stopped her momentarily and the taste of blood rushed to her tongue, during this moment Sabia fought back the painful urge to cough, but could not stop a small dribble of blood from exiting the corner of her maw. "Is that all you've got?" Her words finally came together to form a weak attempt at prodding the other. Her hope was that once she was free she could find some inner strength to defend herself.

For this moment and this moment only she wished for her cousins strength, for her cousins ability at ignoring the pain and trembling. The more she wished the more it seemed to come to her, but it still was not enough.

Tyfu felt something which may have been a grudging respect for the white lioness. She had guts. No brains, but guts. To still be defiant even when her life was literally in someone else's paws took a lot of guts. But even more stupidity.

As quickly as her foreleg had shot out before, the black lioness now used her grip to drag the other Guard's neck and head down, almost to the ground, in a sudden jerk. Then, unsheathing the claws on her other forepaw, she held it, tantalizingly, mere hairs' widths from Sabia's eyes.

After she had made her point, Tyfu then, slowly and agonizingly, inserted the tips of her claws beneath the white female's eyes and dragged them down her face and muzzle. She stopped pulling as her claws rested just above the other lioness' nose. The black lioness released her hold on the lighter female's neck at that point, secure in her new grip.

It appeared as though something had changed momentarily between the pair, but whatever it was seemed to be a brief glimpse at little to nothing as Sabia felt some movement of her body. The movement should have been a slight indicator of things to come, but she played on innocent hope that the other would tire and move along. Instead of being given a moment to breath a regain anything the other struck again, seeming to have more momentum than before.

This time the pale lioness gasped.. it all seemed to happen so fast and before she knew it the glittering points of her combatant was digging into her face and dragging along towards her nose. The gasp paused and began again as all motion ceased and Tyfu released her throat. Now all that kept them together were a set of claws gouging the sensitive flesh above her nose and between her eyes.

At this point Sabia clenched her eyes and ground her teeth, this was being done all to continue avoid the absolute need to cough and sputter further. Unfortunately a bloody display was inevitable as it poured now freely from the wounds on her throat. Her pelt, once a beautiful white was now glistening a dangerous red. Had she anymore energy she would have spoken, told off the lioness for causing such harm and for demoralizing her, but she was finally incapable of muttering another word save for a few sputtering moans.

Once she had fully realized her current state she simply opened her eyes and stared up to the dark lioness again, her captor. If words could describe the anger and hatred that had surfaced in her red orbs they would not be her usual neat and tidy speech.

It was not the first time Tyfu had tormented someone like this. But any intelligent lion could have figured that out. As it was, her gold eyes glittered as she recognized the rage and hatred within those of her victim. Some thought now was the best time to bring words back into the torture. Tyfu knew better. This was the moment when decisions were made. And it looked to her as if Sabia was choosing to fight. She might not have the ability to do much now, but she'd be sure to remember all that happened this day, espeically from this point forward. That was what could make her dangerous.

It would also improve her usefulness as a Guard.

Which meant that Tyfu's work here was done. However, she couldn't resist a last fluorish. Instead of drawing her claws straight out of the white lioness' face, the black female dragged them downward instead, raking through the sensitive flesh of the purple nose. Only then did she pull her dripping forepaw away from the white female's face.

With utter disdain for her victim, and studied nonchalance, Tyfu turned and continued on the route she'd interrupted earlier.

Numb.

Sabia`Nafsi had settled into this numb state, but never lost eye contact, never struggled to be free. In fact she played a little as though she almost enjoyed the contact with Tyfu, a contact she would never in her life forget. Not once had revenge crossed her mind, not once had she considered returning the favor bestowed upon herself. But there was certainly dark rumblings in the back of her mind, somewhere she in all the false enjoyment there was a lick of truth.

All of her thoughts and ability to resist died when Tyfu began the progress towards her nose. When the dark lioness finally reached the sensitive pale purple nose of Sabia the severely injured lioness inhaled deeply through her nose and than suppressed a sudden urge to cry out. It would've been what Tyfu was looking for and Sabia was not prepared to give anymore than she already had.

Finally, it seemed as though many moons passed, Tyfu was on her way and left the pale lioness to her thoughts. But Sabia could not think, in fact she could barely lift herself. But she did. It surprised her that she had any strength left, but to avoid questions she moved to find a temporary safe haven to recover.

Without further waiting she left the one of the pride she would never forget.
