Nenam was always keenly aware of the movements of the pride as well as those of everyone within it. They were her charges, given to her to help guide by their goddess, and she was nothing if not a devoted servant, eager to do her job and dream up the way that would lead them to continued prosper.
Which of course was why she noticed rather quickly that one of their member was missing. That in itself wasn't odd - seekers were all the time coming and going, slipping from under her watchful eye to sift through the sands and ruins that marked the pride's path for anything of interest - but the amount of time he'd been gone and the direction... Maybe it was just the way the wind was blowing, but the white and gold lioness had felt a sense of necessity come over her as the pride once more resumed their morning march, and with a few whispered words peeled away from her red twin to weave slowly back through the throng of wandering lions. She did not rush, and took the time to greet any of their number who called out to her, making no sign of her inner concern obvious even after they left her behind. She wasn't worried. Simply needed.
The pale lioness took a long breath, glancing at the height of the sun and the path of tracks left behind, the angle from it to the mountain and a vague mental map of what else was in the area...And set off. Her guess was that he'd try to shortcut...

He had, indeed, attempted to take a short cut. He had lived in this land so long that it was etched straight on his being - so he figured if he had taken to a small path, he'd find his way along-side of the group.
He wasn't completely off, right?
Seeing the familiar pelt of the Pathfinder, he felt himself get a little shy, knowing that he had . . . technically found the group - and by that, it found him, through Nenam. Clearing his throat a little, he gave a little bow of his head to the lioness, marked ears flickering lightly.
"It appears that the seeking as been seeked out, then." He broke the silence, deep voice quiet. He wouldn't specifically admit it, but he was relieved. "The path behind us is safe, at least." He tried to lighten the mood with.

Nenam smiled - a genuine if not terribly expressive thing, her nature being too placid and inwards-focused to really beam at the male - as she spied what she was looking for. WHO she was looking for. To anyone not knowing, they would seem like twins, or siblings at least, herself and the male she did not hesitate to step forwards and greet with a fond (if somewhat lacking in any sort of romantic nuances) nuzzle. They were related, but the line of blood that connected them was thin and cast wide - the far flung descendants of two siblings, from more than ten generations prior.
Still, she loved all her pridemates as if they were siblings. Or some days, her children, depending on her individual moods. She had devoted her life to them, and worried for them in her own quiet way. Of course, she knew Kuvuka was imminently capable. She could trust him to return to her, to the pride, after any length of time away.
It didn't mean she was less glad to find him safe and sound.
"The wind told me to look back. And I did," She shrugged. "And that is good news." It had been more than a generation since anyone of ill intent had come creeping up behind the pride, stalking them by their tracks. It was not something Nenam planned to have happen again any time soon. "Come. Walk with me. The way is easier when not alone, hmm?" She would bid him follow, but would not mind if he chose to leave her once they regrouped with the throng of their people. Many lions had many friends within the crowd. It would be selfish to deny any of them the choice to mingle.

"I must thank the wind, then, for it's foresight to talk to you." He murmured softly, giving her a soft look when she nuzzled him in welcome, going to place his head on her forehead lightly in a somewhat affectionate way. This was one of his leaders, one of the true and strong that show them the way - his movements were full of respect and adoration.
"Your company is greatly appreciated, it will make the trek shorter, definitively - I have not seen the group in weeks. Has there been any change? I am certain that we are all still looking for the way, correct?" He asked, turning to start walking, looking down to the pale lioness that walked with him, white tail flicking slowly.
He was already feeling better.

Nerpin Oh god I'm trash I forgot about this hnnn.
Nenam gently ducked her head, a faint smile flitting around the corners of her lips. "The way has been found, just as we always have done. The windstorms last moon buried several landmarks that we have been using for generations. Thankfully though, they revealed an entire set of new ruins. The seekers are understandably thrilled." And they were. Day and night they were coming and going, babbling happily to friends and family to look at this bit of rubble or that length of cloth. It was a treasure trove, and eased the blow of having potentially lost their way.
"We're actually a few days ahead of schedule now, so Msafiri's slowed the pace. She doesn't trust herself half as well as she should. Even if the wind and sand hid every spot we know on these lands, her feet would find the same path." She had utter faith in her sister. Of course, her own visions were often helpful as well. "We're hoping the rest who went back and out will return before we move on." With the path changed, the temptation to leave way-marks was there...but as always, not an option. Anyone could find those marks...
