I have found a poem I love in 'Young Writers' Summer Anthology 2003' and I thought I'd share it with you. I don't know why I love it, I just do.

It's by a girl called R. Patti.

Supermarket Blues

Low price, good value -
So the label says,
If I coulod hear it speak,
It would be high-pitched,
A falsetto squeak.
Endearing and annoying.
The way you always wanted
To rip the bell off Noddy's hat,
But were calmed by his little yellow car.
Honk, honk, honk, honk.
Picture books are so pretty,
Fairytales are like dreams.
A innuendos
And the twisted truths shine through,
Like barbed wire against a luscious field.
And you're stuck,
Wishing you could return to what was -
Free from the responsibility
Of choosing which bread fits the bill.
What price the best bargin?

It's all about Peter Pan in the end.
