TARAKONA
EJDERHA

"Two snakes, off on a whirlwind adventure!" Tarakona announced to the cloudless blue sky above as the pair of reptiles slithered through the tall grass that almost completely obscured their view. He hissed slightly in his excitement, dark purple eyes flashing.

Ejderha glanced over at her brother and shook her head. It was a common enough attitude to have around him, after all. This was hardly the first time she'd done so.

"'Kona, seriously. Why not announce to every creature on the plains that wants to eat us where we are?" She didn't think it was that likely, but they hadn't been raised to be fools. There was no reason to invite trouble when the world was so eager to give it away for free.

"Besides, as neither of us fly, a whirlwind is likely to just pick us up and throw us around until we die. Which is a very short life I'd like to avoid."

Torakona just laughed a snake's hissing laughter in response to Ej's constant pessimism. She always wanted to drag him down, but he had to admit that sometimes he needed it. But that didn't stop her attempts from being funny!

"Aw, come off it. We're too tough and nasty for someone to eat, unless if they're absolutely desperate! So I wouldn't worry about it."

Well, 'Kona tended not to worry about anything. He let Ejderha take care of that for him.

Neo was off on an adventure, and for the first time he was on his own, he rarely went anywhere without his twin brother. Though this adventure he was hoping would end with him finding himself a mate and he didn't want to have the competition of standing next to him. As far as his mate was concerned Neo only wanted her to have eyes for him.

While Neo was excited to be out on his own he was also nervous, klipspringers were seen as food to many and he didn't relish the idea of being someone's lunch. When he heard two voices talking her froze, "Hello" he called out against his better judgement. He wanted to know who else was out there.

"Hello up there!" 'Kona called back to the large mammal who was standing not too far away. It was clear that the legged beast didn't have the slightest idea where the snakes were, which wasn't suprising given how close to the ground they were.

"Lovely day, isn't it?"

Tarakona's words were abruptly choked off as Ejderha headbutted her brother to get him to shut up. Just because the klipspringer couldn't see them didn't mean it wouldn't step on them. Or that it was even remotely inclined to be friendly.

Oh sure, the bigger creature seemed as harmless as 'Kona, but that was what they wanted you to think before they trampled you into gore.

"Hush!" she hissed at the obnoxious thing she called a brother.

Neo took a step back away from the voices while he scanned the area. It took him a couple of minutes before he eventually lowered his eyes to the ground and saw the two snakes sitting on the ground.

He lowered himself to the ground so that he was closer to them. He had never actually met a snake before and was intrigued by them. "Hi' he answered back to the male.

It probably wasn't very smart for him to get down on the ground like this if he had to get away now he wouldn't be able to do it very quickly. "You aren't poisonous are you?" he asked. The only thing he knew about snakes was that sometimes there bite could be fatal.

'Kona flicked Ej with his tail in response to being rammed into silence and slithered towards the kneeling mammal. See, just a friendly creature who was happy to talk!

"Well, that depends," he replied conspiratorially, "are you allergic to snake bites?" The reptile wiggled his brow ridges for emphasis. "After all, the power of suggestion can make even the strongest constitution fall ill!" Bwahahaha!

An overly loud sigh cut through what would have been 'Kona's evil laughter as Ejderha came up next to her brother. She gave him a fuchsia glare indicating that they would, as usual, have words later. But not right now, in front of a total stranger.

"No. We aren't that kind of snake," she informed the large mammal.

"I don't know if I am allergic to snakes." he answered the male before his sister announced that they weren't a poisonous type of snake. He felt his cheeks blush a little at his at how naive had been.

Neo watched the snakes moved around amazed at there ability to make it across the ground with out legs. "How do you do that" he asked resisting the urge to poke them in the middle with his nose so that they would flip over, he was pretty sure that would be considered really rude. "I mean how do you move with no legs." It was a really stupid question but Neo was amazed by the reptiles.

"Why, it's magic of course!" 'Kona explained to the oh-so-gullible mammal. "A little touch here, a little tweak there, and we just glide over the ground! But you can't actually see it since we're already so close to it."

This was absolutely the most fun he'd had in days! Probably because Ej was such a stick in the mud who didn't like it when he had fun. Oh well, he'd enjoy it while it lasted since the mammal wasn't likely to be there tomorrow, but Ej would be.

The darker snake thwapped her brother with her tail a second time as he completed some stupid rambling explanation about magic. What an idiot.

"We wiggle ourselves from side to side while propelling ourselves forward. Our whole bodies are made of muscle, so it's very simple for us. We do not levitate, glide, float, or othewise use whatever fictional nonsense Tarakona is talking about."

She might not have wanted to be drawn into this conversation, and she might not honestly care about the klipspringer, but Ejderha didn't want anyone to believe whatever stupid stories 'Kona made up. That was almost a fate worse than death.

Neo's eyes bounced back and forth between the siblings, they sure did argue a lot. He wondered if he and Jasisiradi sounded like this when they were together. The twins were usually inseparable and often argued for great lengths of time, they rarely agreed on anything.

"Muscles interesting." Neo said as he studied the too. He had muscles too but he didn't think he'd be able to drag himself along the ground like that, he made a mental not to try at it later when he was alone.

"What do you guys eat?" he asked. This was almost like a science experiment for the male he wanted to know all he could about the snakes, he wasn't sure when he would meet one again. This time he looked to the female for the answers known that Kona would only tell him lies.

"Oh you know, a bit of this, a bit of that, some ratel and genet and rat, baby birds and mice, occasionally lice..." The lighter snake's voice rose up and down in a singsong tone as he listed various creatures that a snake could find edible under various conditions. In fact, he was starting to salivate as he did so. Mmm...it must be dinner time.

Lucky for the mammal, he was far too big for either snake to consider eating.

"Food, like anyone else," Ejderha retorted. "Preferably live and wriggling as we swallow it." She frowned at her brother but he seemed to be behaving himself. For once.

"Now, unless if you actually want to see us eat, I suggest you go find something to graze on while we go hunt. And no, I don't recommend watching us eat," she informed him coldly before he had a chance to respond to her supposed invitation.

But really, if he wanted to gross himself out, that was his business. Hers was eating.

A look of horror passed over Neo's eyes as the female told him that they ate things live and wriggling. His stomach doing flips he rose to his feet.

"Well it was nice to meet you both." Neo said in a pretty small voice, perhaps asking them what they ate was a mistake, there was only so much anyone needed to know and he was positive that he hadn't needed to know that. Not in such details anyways.

He didn't really stick around for them to say goodbye back he was fearful that they would begin eating right there in front of him.

"Frog and toad and little shrew, baby jackal and antelope too..." 'Kona sang as the mammal hurried away. He almost burst out laughing at the expression on the herbivore's face, but really, what could you expect from a grasseater?

"Enough," the darker snake hissed. "You'll scare the prey away, and then where will we be? No, don't answer that," she added quickly, long familiar with the various responses 'Kona had stored up against that very question.

The best way to get her brother to shut up was to stuff something in his mouth. So they'd go find something to do that with. And a bit for her as well.
