Hial wasn't entirely nervous about her first viking. Maybe a tiny bit… but that was it! It didn't help that she knew basically no one in her raiding group. The hell was that? At least, she concluded, she wasn't the only female in the group. That was comforting, sort of. It was a big toss up whether she would actually get along with any of the other lionesses or not. Well, at this point it was whatever. She needed to focus on being a good Reaver! She was sure that at this point Feykir was probably crashing and burning… which gave her great joy, honestly.

"Alright crew, we move out. No bellyaching about all the walking or I'll assume ya have flowers in yer blood… I'll gut you myself if that's the case! Take all that you find, as that is our right!" Hial grinned at her captain's words, becoming more excited and less anxious. With a few jests and teases to some of the other reavers around her she began to move with them.

After some time walking she'd learned several things about the band, mainly that almost all of the other members on this raid were first timers like her. She wondered if that was wise, even? She figured the more new reavers you had on the raid the more likely it was that something could go wrong. But she wouldn't let that happen, at least not on her end of things. She had to respect that the others wouldn't let it happen on their end, either.

After the sun had changed quite a bit of position in the sky Hial could finally realize why the captain had made the condition about complaining. They'd literally done nothing but walk for the last few hours. Of course, it made sense why raids weren't simply a day trip and some lasted as long as a moon, maybe more. Hial vaguely wondered if theirs would last that long… but with the amount of new Reavers on the trip she highly doubted it.

They travelled long into the night, the captain claiming several other raiding parties had had success nearby to their lands and they would find something better if they didn't 'pounce upon the first whore they came to', his words not hers. The night was spent well, with good song and good stories. Boasts flew out of the more experienced reavers' mouths, of all their successes and even some of their failures. When the moon was low in the night sky and getting close to the horizon they slept, hoping to spend most of the day lazing about so they could move with the cover of the night, with the knowledge that tomorrow would come glory. Or more of the same.

Hyenas attack in the night! Apparently the reavers on watch fell asleep, or perhaps the hyenas were sly enough to get past.

1 - 10: Hial embarrassingly sleeps through most of the attack, awaking only as the band is driving the hyenas away.
11 - 20: Having trouble sleeping, Hial was already awake and managed to alert the band to the threat.
21 - 30: Bring on the fighting!
31 - 40: The reaver sleeping closest to Hial is slaughtered before they had a chance, luckily Hial is woken from the noise.
41 - 50: Hial snaps awake with a shout… oh! It was only a dream… she's heckled by the other reavers mercilessly.

She groaned slightly, shifting and turning. They were right there! DIdn't anyone else see them? "Come! We must fight!" She bellowed, but it was like she was speaking to deaf ears. What was wrong with her band? The hyenas were getting closer and closer! And they were ignoring her! What had she done to gain such disapproval? "Do you all have flowers in your blood? What is wrong with you! Ready your claws…. they're here!" She was beginning to feel a little overwhelmed, because as her words came she saw one reaver on watch being taken down, the outcome very bloody. She snarled and hurried away from them all, if they wouldn't listen she would fight on her own! Today was as good a day to die as any, and even better if she did so while in combat. "To hell with you all! Cowards, every one of you!" She knew those words would fall on deaf ears just as the others had. She panted as she ran and ran... the hyenas had been so close, why was it taking her so long to close the gap? She was ready! She could at least bring one down, if not more of the foul beasts. Suddenly she felt something slam into her side and she yowled out, partly in surprise and partly in pain. She twisted and struggled to snap or sink her claws into something, but try as she might she could not see her assailant. Suddenly it felt as though her guts were being ripped right out from her stomach and she screamed.

Hial woke up with a shout, her words about hyenas attacking strangled when her eyes finally drank in some sunlight and she realized that her guts were not, in fact, being ripped out by something unseen. She was hushed harshly by a few other band members. She grumbled to herself as she took a look around. Oh she wanted to strangle herself! She knew this wouldn't be the end of it.

And in fact, after she'd gone back to sleep and rose with the rest of them it wasn't the last of it. She'd been teased a number of times about being yellow bellied, and did anyone smell such fragrant flowers? It was enough to put her in a terrible mood, it wasn't fair. In her dream she'd been the only one ready to take action... but it was better to leave that unsaid. She'd take the teasing for now, and she'd give back twice what she was getting when she did something that would make her deserving of such boasting. She needed some way to redeem herself. The second day of traveling was just as uneventful as the first, with the exception of the added enjoyment of Hial's misery for the others'.

The third night, however, was a success! They'd come upon a smaller group of what seemed to be rogues with little in common besides their roguedom. Two were killed and the third was capture for a thrall, obviously not willing to die for their freedom. Hial had fought fiercely, and was proud of that even if she hadn't been the one to make the capture. And on their way home? They were able to find a good amount of loot, Hial claiming several objects as her own. Perhaps in time the whole hyena dream situation would be forgotten, especially if she could capture herself some thralls. Either way she figured that her first viking wasn't a total bust.

You lost some and you won some… really the goal was to win, but losing couldn't be helped. She envied those that seemed to win always… perhaps it was time to start honing her skills and bettering herself. Then when the time came she could rub it merrily in Feykir's face. She was certain, at least, that he couldn't have done better than she had done. Simply put… he was an idiot. He was too pompous, too sure of his supposed skills when really the majority of his time was spent chasing tails of pretty females. She may have believed she could do anything a male could do, and better at that, but she was also well aware it would take time. And what more did she have than time?
