[PRP] A New Servant? [Inuka & Azhdaha]

Inuka carried herself like a princess, though she had no royal blood or experience in her. In fact, she had barely met any noble lions in her life, but she still counted herself among them. If only there was a way for her to reach the status she so desired!

Instead, she was stuck running errands in the rogue lands, looking for new members to bring back to her pride, and for information to learn from and bring back as well. It was not her ideal position.

It was a LOT of walking and work, and her paws were aching.

Honestly, she wanted a job where someone would just take care of her, and make sure she was well accounted for. They would hunt for her and bring her things she asked for, and make her life comfortable and easy, so she did not have to feel this kind of exhaustion and hunger. Hunting was a miserable strain for her, and she hated running. So far she had not managed to catch anything in a few days, and it was wearing her spirit down.

Huffing, she flopped down in a nice, sunny patch of grass, putting her paws over her eyes and wishing food to appear in front of her when she removed them. It never worked, but maybe one day...

Azhdaha was lonely these days. He had set out from his home pride expecting a grand adventure that would be full of lionesses in need of a hero to sweep them off their paws and wisk them away from danger. After a few such encounters he fully expected to find the lioness of his dreams with whom to settle down and raise a family. He was, to say the least, quite disappointed in the reality of the rogue life he had taken up.

Azhdaha found females to save, certainly, but it was much harder than he thought it would be to be heroic. The lion found himself very tired every time and never found the kind of female he would be proud to call his own, let alone have as mother of his cubs. It was a long trip so far and he was starting to wonder if it was worth leaving home in the first place.

Azhdaha's mind was going through all of this again as he watched his prey and waited to pounce on the injured antelope before him. He had been tracking it for two days to get it worn out and weak enough for hunting. He was quite happy with how he managed to keep chasing it when it stopped to eat. Now was the time to take it down. The whole thing went swimmingly and Azhdaha had his antelope. He almost landed on the lioness laying in the grass. He was not aware of her presence before but he was now. "Sorry, m'lady. I do hope you are not hurt."

Inuka was startled nearly out of her fur when a lion came out of no where and nearly landed on her. She leaped up, fur bristling and standing up on end, giving her a look that she would have loathed if she were not so caught up in the whole 'being terrified' thing.

She stared at him, wide eyed, they tried to gather her wits.

Had he said m'lady? How polite! And that was exactly the kind of thing she liked to be called, because it made her feel like a princess. All she wanted in life was to be treated like a princess, after all, and was that too much to ask?

She did not think so.

"Oh, no, I'm fine. I think I lost a few years off my life from the scare, but not hurt. It's okay, sir," she said with a graceful smile, and she bowed her head at him in greeting. "My name is Inuka, envoy of the frozen isles. Was I... in your way?"

Azhdaha was not happy with himself for scaring the lioness he had just happened upon. She certainly did not deserve his startling of her! He really hoped she was not serious about losing a few years of her life. He did not think that was possible, but then stranger things had happened with the gods wandering around. He got to his paws, the antelope he had brought down on his own was now several paces behind him as he had been rolled out over it's head when they fell from him killing it. Not his most graceful hunt by far, but at least he had food now.

"M'lady Envoy Inuka of the Frozen Isles, you were by no means in my way. I should have been watching to where I was chasing my prey. I could have harmed you by chasing the antelope over you, or landing on you myself. I do apologize for such carelessness. Perhaps I can make up for my blunder by offering some of my food to the lovely lady?" Azhdaha wanted to make it up to the lioness. Lionesses were beautiful, wonderful creatures that deserved all the pampering a male could put on them. This lioness was quite pretty too, so that made him feel worse. He had almost taken such beauty from the world!

Inuka watched him, holding her head up and smirking a bit as she did so, feeling very much like a princess as he called her m'lady again. A lioness could get used to that!

"At least you managed to catch something. Hunting is such trouble, and I'm not good at it, honestly. If you're offering to share... well, I won't say no! But don't worry about the scare, darling, honestly. I'll survive, at least for a while yet."

She offered him a bright smile, looking at him with eager and approving eyes. A handsome male that hunted for her and called her a proper name? It was like a dream come true, at least for a little while. She was going to bask in it while she could, before real life took her back and she had to return to being a nobody, wandering around all alone.

"Do you come with a name, with all that charm?"

Azhdaha stood tall and gave a low bow to the lioness. "Ah where are my manners? I am Azhdaha, self-appointed advocate of the weak and hero of damsels in distress, at your service, M'lady." He rose again and step to the side so she could get to the kill. "You are more than welcome to share my meal, M'lady Inuka. Hunting without assistance took much practice before I was able to do anything like what I do now and I am more than willing to share the rewards of all my hard work." He was really proud of how he was able to take down such a thing as an antelope on his own. Not just every lion could do THAT, now could they?

Azhdaha turned over the lioness' words a little more and made a decision in his mind. She was most definitely a damsel in distress if she could not provide for herself out here. He would have to assist her. "If hunting is trouble for you, m'lady, it is my duty to escort you on your journey and assist with your hunting." Okay to be fair he would likely do most of the hunting and make her sit around looking pretty, but that was just the way he was. He liked spoiling females as it was a very enjoyable and rewarding activity.

Inuka liked his style. Hero and advocate and all those lovely words she liked. Someone who did not mind serving others, and helping them when they needed it. And she always needed it, clearly.

"I appreciate your kindness!" She said, unable to hide the giggle as she tried to match his tone, bowing her head at him in a gentle and graceful way before she scooted toward the food.

She had to keep herself from burying her face in it and inhaling all the meat her stomach could carry.

Polite and well mannered. That was what she was going for. Refined.

His next words caught her off guard. Sure, it was easy to imagine someone helping her out and doing the hard things for her, and making her life easier, but it was quiet another to have someone actually offering it. She blinked at him.

"Are you sure it wouldn't be too far out of your way? I don't exactly live around here. My pride is in the mountains, and I'm supposed to return there, some time."

Azhdaha looked around to make sure nobody was sneaking up on them while the lioness was eating. He did not just have himself to worry about right now. It would be a very bad start to his protecting of her to have someone attack them for the kill. "I am sure that it would not be any out of my way. I have nowhere to be. I will at least see you safely back to your pride, m'lady." He would not leave her to fend for herself. THAT would not be proper of him.

"It is not everyday I come across a beautiful lioness in need of my assistance. It would be dishonorable of me to leave her unprotected in these dangerous lands so far from her home pride." Besides, if he got to travel with her, Azhdaha would get to look at her pretty hide for who knew how long, and have countless chances to dote on her. He did not figure he had a snowball's chance on the savanna with her, but he could pretend he did while they traveled together. It was all he had at the moment.

Once the male was satisfied that there was nobody lurking around, Azhdaha bend down and ate some of the kill himself. He would need his strength to look after this female and keep her safe. And of course he was going to need strength to hunt for her later. He was really starting to feel excited about the idea of having a female to look after, even if he was not going to get to keep her for himself. He liked the idea of being useful.

Oh yes. Inuka liked him a lot. And if she could swing it, she would keep him around as long as she could. It was what she always wanted, after all: someone who would take care of her. She had not imagined that someone being quite so handsome, though, and she blushed a bit at the idea of him sticking around.

What if they really got to know each other?

Inuka was not shy, by any means, but she was proper and she did try to keep herself above idle temptations and embarrassing situations. Still, she could not help but wonder about him, and it was very strange to her.

"I like your compliments, sir, and I like your dutiful ideas. I would be very honored to have you as my companion, at least for a little while. You are a very nice guy, did you know that?" She wondered if he just did these kinds of things because that was what he felt was proper, without actually noticing how kind he was.

She would keep him with her as long as she could. Her own, personal knight. Sans shining armor, of course, but the concept did not occur to her, anyway.

"I am glad my words please you, m'lady, and I hope that my deeds will do so just as much." Azhdaha gave her a little bow before he ate a bit more. He certainly tried to be a good lion. To him good, kind, and proper all went together. "Who knows, perhaps you will like me enough to keep me around more permanently." He put on his most dashing smile and nudged the food toward her a bit more. "Eat up, you will neat your strength for travelling, beautiful." He wondered if Inuka would like him staying around forever. He hoped that she might eventually, which was an unrealistic hope in his own mind, but he still had it.

Azhdaha hoped that the lioness was as proper as she seemed, though. He would hate to find out that she WASN'T and have to explain to her why he did not want to just sire her cubs and walk away. That had been what had chased off one or two of the females he encountered so far. The producing cubs was not such a bad idea so long as he got to be with them. He would much rather it be with a mate whom would love him forever, though.

Inuka decided that she did want to keep him around, for as long as he would tolerate her. He was just too perfect, and if she found out it was all an act later she would be very furious.

Right now, though, it was like she had walked into a dream world, and what she had always wanted was dropped right in front of her. She realized she was just watching him, smiling.

Hopefully he didn't catch her staring.

Scooting closer to him, she did not say anything else, as they could focus on their meal and then begin whatever journey awaited them after. She did lean against him as she shared the meal with him, though, humming to herself contentedly as she did so and stealing meaningful looks at him every now and then.

Yes, this whole thing would suit her just fine. And maybe for a long, long time.

Azhdaha enjoyed the feeling of the lioness pressed against him as she leaned on him. He said not a word, not wishing to chase her away. He liked the closeness and hoped that it would be a good omen of things to come. She was beautiful, liked him, and seemed to truly need a male like him around. If this was a dream, he never wished to wake from it. He had not noticed her staring at him as he had been looking around to make sure no threats were sneaking up on them. He was nothing if not vigilant as a guardian.

Azhdaha gave a contented rumble as he got back to the meal and started really thinking of all the things he would do to protect and care for this lioness on their journeys. He would hunt for her, fight for her, carry her if she should get injured. There were just so many things he could and would happily do to keep her happy. He was also very curious as to what her home pride was like. Was it a place he would be welcomed, or did she have a mate back there that would think the wrong thing? He gave no voice to the questions in his mind, as now was not the time.
