It was a windy day around the temple grounds. A dark shadow slipped away from her hidden spot to start walking on the main path. The sun was already slipping low so the lioness figured that an evening stroll would be fine by now. Most left the temple by this time to go out for their own evening work or pleasure. Eris, however, preferred to take the chance to roam where others didn’t. So as the sky began to darken with the colors of twilight the dark lioness found herself climbing along the cliffs. The more she walked the more the taste of salt filled her senses. The ocean. She found herself closing her eyes to taste the breeze as it washed over her.
It was nice being able to enjoy the quietness of an evening along the cliffs. She much preferred it to the rush of being in the middle of the Vikings. After all it was hard to enjoy the peace of a quiet night amongst that rowdy bunch.

Anane was still getting use to living amongst the vikings. It helped the black maned lion that he had a great deal of family within the pride. However at the same time it made him a little unease, his triplet brothers were here and Anane always felt need to show them up, it had sucked growing up the odd man out so to speak.
Tonight Anane was relaxing a little though, he was considering becoming a viking it seemed to be the position in the pride that received respect, and of course one of his brothers was already a Reaver, he had some catching up to do. It was with these thoughts swimming around in his head the the green accented lion made his way out to the cliffs to think, he wanted to hear the water slapping against the cliff's it had a weird soothing effect.

It really was relaxing out here. Eris stood tall against the cliffs and let out a sigh of pleasure as the wind ruffled through her fur. Maybe one day I can just leap and fly away from here. Like one of the dark birds that always flew along the shoreline. It would be nice indeed to feel the wind beneath her paws.
Though it wasn't the wind that she was hearing right now. Her gaze widening Eris spun on her paws. Someone else was here? Probably some drunk viking... They always celebrated so heavily after a good raid. Sighing she turned to try to move her way down the cliffs. Maybe he'll be too out of it to even notice I'm here.
As she approached the male she could only hope that the shadows would hide her well despite her brilliant markings.

Anane's ears twitched at the sound of someone moving along the rocky cliffs. He scanned the area and quickly noticed the glowing patches, it took him awhile but his eyes adjusted and he saw the darkly coloured lioness moving in the shadows.
"Hello there." Anane said quietly. He wasn't sure but it almost looked like the female was trying to hide from him, why would she do that, did he look that intimidating? He rose to his feet. "Don't be shy on my account." he said smoothly. Anane hadn't made that many friends in the pride yet, just his family and that blind lioness. He really could do with more friends, and even a mate would be nice. His brother's had already started to have families he needed to catch up to them.

Couldn't blame me for trying. Eris suppressed the faint sigh that she had at the greeting. Whoever had cursed her with these markings really had it out for her. It was hard to sneak in the shadows and hard to pass others in the daylight without strange glances. Some even thought she was a bringer of bad luck due to her markings and strange gaze. Of course it didn't help that when she was a cub every time she was bullied bad things happened to the others. One cub broke a leg tumbling down the cliffs once while a reaver had a horrible raid...just unfortunate events really, but those superstitious had other feelings.
"I'm..." Eris trailed off at his comment in surprise. He thought she was being shy? That's a first. Normally others just assumed she was truly cursed or those who were thankfully not superstitious just found her to be rude and antisocial. Would shy even be a word for her? She just preferred the solitude as it left her to her thoughts. She really didn't belong to the rowdy life after all and was too delicate to really fight like the reavers did. Still Eris had to shake the thoughts from her mind, "I'm just getting out of your way so you can go do whatever it was that you were intending."
She frowned as she walked closer towards the male. Unfortunately for her it seemed that he was rather in a calm mindset and not one of the tipsy fools that normally came up here to make a mess. She honestly didn't know what to expect from him or what he would want from her.

"You don't need to leave." he told her. "I came out here because I like the sound of the ocean, I can hear it with or without you here. But honestly I much prefer to hear it with you here." he told her. He got a better look at the lioness as she moved closer. He found her markings appealing, dark and glowy was a trait that ran in the family and one that Anane found quite appealing he wished he had more of the feature himself.
"You see I have been in the pride a fair amount of time but I have yet to make many friend. Sure I have some family here but thats not enough a male needs more than his family to keep him company." he paused in is talking wondering if perhaps he was coming on too strong. Anane wasn't the flirty type he was a thinker, even his urge to become a Reaver had nothing to do with the desire to fight, but instead because he thought he could use his smart to help the pride gain more from outside of the pride. You didn't have to be brutal to bring in a good bounty, you just had to be smarter than the one you were taking it from.
"Tell me about yourself?" he asked her.

Eris raised an eyebrow towards the male, "How would you know if you prefer my presence or not?" She shook her head sadly, "If you're here for the ocean you should be here for the ocean. For all you know my presence may cause you to stumble from the cliffs or just talking like this will block out the ocean sounds."
She chuckled softly. Unless this guy was suddenly afraid of the dark and wanted company? Most were on guard against strangers though since the vikings were good at causing havoc. Eris was thankful that she was a freeborn into the pride rather than one of the poor thralls dragged in. I would have found an escape as soon as possible in that case.
"Oh?" She truly wanted to chuckle at his attempts of being friendly as it was rare for someone to try so hard with her, "Then why not go pick a fight with one of the males? A lot of bonding happens when the reavers fight each other here. I'm sure they can give you the company you need."
Eris blinked at his question, "I'm a freeborn lioness that likes to wander around in the dark. What more could you need to know from me?" Truly what a silly guy. Yet she gave him credit for trying so hard.

Anane frowned a little. This female wasn't making conversation very easy. "I am very good at multitasking. I am able to hear the ocean in the background while I talk pleasantly enough with you. As to how I know if I prefer your company or not..... well frankly I am not a huge fan of being alone so I figure you must be better than nobody at least you are somebody."
He listened while she suggested ways that he could make friends here in the pride, "Ah but you see I don't want to be like those who use brute force to get their way. I am not a brute force kind of male. Sure I can hold my own in fight but I much rather not have to use the muscles in my body. My brain is a much stronger muscle and I can wield quite well."

How innocent one must be of the world. Eris just shook her head sadly, "I see I can't change your mind then." She shrugged, "I suppose I can entertain you then. You're far better than half of what roams through here during this time." For someone who didn't like being alone it was a strange thing that he had decided to wander along this path then. Why not stay with the bigger crowds? I guess the ocean's appeal is really just that strong.
Fate truly was a strange thing.
Maybe that was the reason behind this meeting. Another thing to just mess with her...blinking at his reply Eris tried to focus on the lion's words, "Not a fighter?" She actually laughed, a soft laugh that lifted up into the night air, "Don't let a lot of the others hear that. They'll wonder about you." It was a teasing comment that showed a bit of warmth before she turned away from him.
"Well if you're here to listen to the ocean then I suppose we should continue on." Eris glanced over her shoulder, "I can lead the way since I know this path well and we can listen to the waves together. They are rather musical." The crashing waters were truly relaxing. It would be a nice break from the confusion of this evening.

Anane smiled it would seem the female understood him somewhat. "Ah my secret is a well guarded one. I have too many brothers who are fighters. I can't appear to be a sissy as they would say." he told her a small chuckle in his voice.
"Well then lead the way." Anane said rising to his feat. For him there was nothing better than listening to the ocean's crashing into the cliffs at night. The body of water was stronger than most of them in the pride seemed to understand. He didn't say anything else to the female, instead he just followed her along the path listing to the ocean.
