He hoped his family would be proud of him although he chose not to stay. It had taken nearly a day of soul searching and deep thought to convince himself that he was better off leaving. He couldn't stand the thought of staying and never getting females of his own if he didn't fight. It was what it was. Now he just had to break the news to his family.
Thanda headed toward the most logical place to find his father. Telling him would probably be the hardest. The young male figured his father would probably disappointed in him at the least. He took a deep breath to steady his nerves. Stepping in he called out, "father? Are you here?"

Just as Thanda had assumed Jasiri had managed to find one of the better spots in the territory they currently occupied. There were some perks that came with being Inselelo. When the other males patrolled he could pick the best resting places. When they didn't, he'd have to settle for second best... He had his back against a sun warmed rock and a scrawny tree provided spots of shade. Life was good.
He heard his son call out before he saw him, and as he raised his head the dark maned young male became visible behind the rock.
"Thanda," he said and nodded in greeting, "Have a seat."
The leading males were normally not too kind to adolescent males, but Jasiri didn't see the point of harassing his own sons. They'd leave when they were ready. Or, he supposed, when the Abaholi got fed up and chased them out. It didn't occur to him that one of his sons could technically challenge him for his own position. He couldn't really see them as a threat. Not yet.
If Andhaka or Bangizwe had been present he would probably not have invited his son to rest beside him. The females might gossip, but they couldn't do much about it. He was allowed to talk to his son, and if he preferred to do that from this comfortable spot he figured it was perfectly reasonable to do so.--- Jagazi had finally completed her Ukuzalwa, and she very much enjoyed her new role as an adult huntress. She might not be fully grown yet, but she was at least truly born. She had even been lucky in the hunt. No one was hurt, and they brought back prey to the pride. She hadn't been able to shut up about it for several days. She'd followed along on a hunt today too, and just recently come back to the pride. Jagazi was tired, dusty and disappointed. No one was hurt, but the prey had remained vigilant. This might be the most running she'd done in her life, and they still had nothing to show for it.
She looked around to check for a patch of unoccupied shade that she could lie down and die in. Unfortunately the shady spots looked very crowded. Being an adult really sucked today.magnadearel I'll let her join them later?..
