[PRP] Big Families, Bigger Hearts (Maelewano x Kwadin)

Recently, Maelewano had been feeling a bit of unrest. After meeting Judoc, one of the mercenaries taking refuge in the Nchi lands, she couldn't help but feel like her life was missing something. He explained clearly what it was that made him feel fulfilled, and it made his eyes light up. But Maelewano had nothing like that. Other than her family, of course. However, that encounter had made her realize she didn't have much of a life outside of her family. She never really put herself out there enough to make friends independent of her siblings. It was silly, really, considering all of those others available within the pride to meet. Maelewano couldn't help but feel like she was wasting her life away at this point.

It was strange, the way she'd been padding around the pride recently, being moody. But she knew there was something in her life missing and she thought maybe, just maybe, some clear-minded alone time would help her figure it all out. Then again, maybe that was just wishful thinking.

Kwadin had been staring a rock for what he thought was ages. Something interesting was growing on this rock and he had to take as many mental notes that he could. It was a greenish-yellow and he knew that it was some sort of moss. Which one, he had no clue but he had to find out.

He didn't mind that every time that he was just intensely staring at an object drew looks because he knew that it was for research. He loved research and had every little note he could jot down in his den. Which made it hard for him to live with anyone. He lived close to his family but he needed his space just due to his notes. He sighed softly, it had been sometime since he saw most of his family and this made him sad. He moved away from the rock and looked around.

It seemed that someone else was having a troubled day and he moved over to greet her. "Hello there, Miss? May I ask how is your day?" he said politely. Research could wait for now.

Maelewano had been so encapsulated in her own thoughts that she hadn’t even noticed the nearby male equally enchanted by a – well, a rock. And it was a good thing, too – Maelewano was the type to outright ask about strange things like that, and she wasn’t quite in the mood to deal with such an odd conversation. When the male did approach her, addressing her rather politely, she was quite caught off guard. She turned her head, gray eyes wide as it took her a few beats to gather her brain and make sense of the sound of his voice working its way through her ears.

Blinking, she smiled politely, bowing her head, feeling heat spread its way across her face. It wasn’t like her to get so lost in herself, but recently her entire life had felt off-kilter. Looking up into the lilac-colored eyes of the male, she could tell that he wasn’t just being nice, asking about her day. He genuinely wanted to make sure she was okay. Maelewano was not normally inclined to trust strangers, but this one felt different. He felt safer, somehow.

“I’m… fine enough,” she stated, huffing a bit. “Simply feeling… confused, I suppose.” She glanced about, feeling awkward for a second before remembering that she’d never introduced herself. “Maelewano,” she blurted out in a hurry. Laughing at herself, she partially explained. “Maelewano. My name, that’s… my name.” At this point she couldn’t do much more than roll her eyes and switch her gaze to his in question of his own identity.
