Swaths of deep purple had begun to mingle with
black and navy blue, blotting out twinkling gems with light. A
stillness had settled on the night, as stillness always precedes great
change. All activity had come to a steady end, bugs and bats no longer
flying, nocturnal lions and lionesses preparing for a day of sleep.
Soon, drasticly bright colors would spread across the sky, chasing
away the eye of the Great Lion. For the Mwezi'Johari, it would soon be
time to retire.
Leto had spent a great portion of her night in solitude, considering
recent events and seeking opinions of the dead amoung the stars. She
had come to rest beside the river, finding the gurgling soothing.
Bones and such from her dinner lay to the side, discarded after a
fulfilling meal of fish fresh from the gentle current in front of her.
She now groomed her paws, removing the left over debris. Her coat was
saturated from the belly down - perhaps she would wait for the
daylight to dry in the warmth of the sun. Although the dark lioness
was quiet suited to nocturnal life, and had indeed never known any
other way, she did enjoy the afternoons at times to experience the
sunshine. Even more so, she enjoyed earlier morning, when all became
still, and the young sun peaked over the horizon to welcome a new day.
This morning, she mused, would be such a morning.
