Christian Post Bibi, who has been held in prison for six years now, was originally sentenced to death in 2010 for offending the Islamic faith. She had been accused by a group of Muslim women to have committed an act of blasphemy when she drank from the same water supply as them. The women said in their charge that Bibi asked "My Christ died for me, what did Muhammad do for you?" — a statement considered blasphemous in the South Asian country.
With acts like these, it's so obvious they don't follow Moses at all; ergo, don't submit to YHWH's definition of blasphemy whatsoever emotion_sweatdrop
Leviticus 24:11-16 (NIV)
11 The son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the Name with a curse; so they brought him to Moses. (His mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri the Danite.) 12 They put him in custody until the will of the Lord should be made clear to them.
13 Then the Lord said to Moses: 14 “Take the blasphemer outside the camp. All those who heard him are to lay their hands on his head, and the entire assembly is to stone him. 15 Say to the Israelites: ‘Anyone who curses their God will be held responsible; 16 anyone who blasphemes the name of the Lord is to be put to death. The entire assembly must stone them. Whether foreigner or native-born, when they blaspheme the Name they are to be put to death.
Treating YHWH's name with disrespect, or outright cursing God, is the blasphemy. How are Muslims getting this idea that anyone commits blasphemy for "drinking from the same water supply"...? Certainly, not from anything YHWH—the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—commanded.
And if it's for claiming that Jesus died for us...? ergo, alluding to his divinity, and that God could come die for us? How is that blasphemy? They're so like the Pharisees: making up their own definition for "blasphemy" instead of submiting to what's written in the Law of Moses.
John 10:33 (NIV)
33 “We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.”
Excuse you, Mr. Pharisee, since when is that blasphemy ?! burning_eyes
You know, there's one English translation of the Quran (that I know of) that could be used to define blasphemy in this way (the Yusuf Ali translation); like the Pharisees, it seems to be a mere "if you believe ___, you are blaspheming".
Surah 5:72
Yusuf Ali
They do blaspheme who say: "Allah is Christ the son of Mary." But said Christ: "O Children of Israel! worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Whoever joins other gods with Allah,- Allah will forbid him the garden, and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrong-doers be no one to help.
Sahih International
They have certainly disbelieved who say, " Allah is the Messiah, the son of Mary" while the Messiah has said, "O Children of Israel, worship Allah , my Lord and your Lord." Indeed, he who associates others with Allah - Allah has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fire. And there are not for the wrongdoers any helpers.
Surah 5:73
Yusuf Ali
They do blaspheme who say: Allah is one of three in a Trinity: for there is no god except One Allah. If they desist not from their word (of blasphemy), verily a grievous penalty will befall the blasphemers among them.
Sahih International
They have certainly disbelieved who say, " Allah is the third of three." And there is no god except one God. And if they do not desist from what they are saying, there will surely afflict the disbelievers among them a painful punishment.
"Blasphemy" definitely means something different to them—the same way the Pharisees started perverting scriptural definitions. They're so infected with the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees. They reject what's literally written in the Law and the Prophets in favor of man's commentary, because it is certainly not YHWH defining things like that for them.
