Rayn had already fought one match, which had been fairly straightforward. Beating a green male. Ragnvard had been watching so she had made sure to fight hard and fast, showing off her skill and speed to best advantage. Though the spring he gone from her toes she still felt full of energy, invigorated by her triumph and eager for the next fight. She planned to go all the way and make her brother proud. She also hoped to meet her other brother in the ring, but had just learnt that he wasn’t participating. Coward. Never mind, she had just caught sight of her next opponent and the thought of the battle to come made her blood zip through her. A firekin! She had heard of the pink-coated reaver from her brother, for he made it his business to know as much as possible about the pride of desert warriors with their red coats. It was rather an obsession for him. But Rayn didn’t mind, she didn’t really care one way or another, but if she beat this female, her brother would have to be very impressed!
Dancing forwards into the ring she beamed at the lioness. “It is a good day to die!”

If she was completely honest, nymphaea wasn't in the mood. She had entered the contest on a whim, just something to break up the monotony between reavings and the everyday humdrum activities of the pride, and now she was here, the drive had gone.
This happened, once in a while, she would just lose the will to bother. She hated living in the shadow that was 'firekin' she had done enough to prove that she was beyond that handle and yet many still called her that, the pink firekin. The exact thing that had gotten her expelled from her birthplace was the handle by which she was known and she loathed it. A snarl raised on her lips, she had heard the words spoken by another as she stalked in to the arena and it set her just in the wrong mood to fight.
The younger female before her seemed all up for action, all happy go lucky and ready for a brawl. She almost just raised her paws and turned the other way, but she supposed, she at least owed the other female a fight.
"Not today thanks" she grumbled stalking towards the other female keeping her large frame close to the ground.

"Indeed." She replied with a grin, her vivid blue eyes narrowing in an expression eerily similar to her notorious elder brother, Ragnvard. Watching as the larger female moved forwards, Rayn neatly sidestepped around the edge of the arena. She wasn’t bothered with looking brave, she used tactics, and refused to be rushed. It was what had won her the fight the last time, and she planned to use it in the next too. As the pink reaver tracked her round the ring Rayn waited, watching for the perfect moment. Not letting her body so much as tense or twitch, so she gave the other no warning of her next action.
There! The other lioness took a fractionally heavier step in a slightly softer patch of ground and Rayn leapt, claws in as she aimed for a powerful swipe across the other reaver’s face.

The strike was good, fast and precise. Nymph was momentarily impressed, she other female had spotted the momentary lapse at her paws and found an opportunity. Nymph very rarely cared about other pride members but it seemed she had come across someone interesting here. Plus young, god damned young. She growled and rather than giving in to her frustration caught the young female as she leapt away hooking her back legs.
She was slower than Rayn sure, her massive size saw to that but she wasn't inexperienced, she had fought in many fights against many different opponents and fighting speedsters, well, it was nothing new. Speed had one great disadvantage they tired much faster. she could lope all day at one speed. She was patient.
"What is your name young one? I wouldn't usually ask but since we seem to be having a little witty banter between attacks I thought I should." She moves once again, slow and steady, hoping her hook had at least unbalanced the young female and made her re think her tactics.

The hook was impressive, completely taking Rayn's back paw from under her. But the younger reaver reacted instinctively, tucking her shoulder and letting her forward momentum whip her body round in a sharp roll. Springing to her feet on the other side of the arena once more she grinned broadly at the pink lioness.
"Nice one!" She chirrup end, her exceptional mood not dented in the least. Rather, she had been impressed by the move, as most lions simply were not that quick, certainly not quick enough to catch her. The older reaver had surprised her and she was utterly thrilled about it! This would be a far more interesting fight than usual and she might even learn something new.
"I'm Rayn Somadottir." She replied, perfectly happy to hold a conversation in the middle of a match. "Ragnvard is my brother." Very few Stormborn knew of her mother. The lioness was a freeborn and despite her rather infamous offspring, Soma herself tended to go unnoticed. But most of the pride knew of her brother and Rayn had come to name him in regards to herself just for expediency. "And yourself?" She asked, fascinated by the lioness who not only could most definitely fight, but who would talk to her too! Rayn found most Stormborn too dull to hold a conversation with but this lioness seemed different.
